- Been noticing a trend with factory intakes on vehicles. They are adding extra ducting that leads to the front outside the vehicle. We have observed this across several brands and models.

Thanks for providing all the examples of new intake styles
Thought it was best to show the different examples before someone says otherwise lol
It definitely helps to provide flow at speeds. For those that go to raceways. Certain cars with engineering in mind shares a common purpose to run efficiently. Like how you said "nobody really talks about" because by design were inclined to bring cars back to the dealer. To be fair some cars were designed with that Ram style in mind.
I think 4th gen Fbodies and Corvettes were a good example with their filters up front by the radiator.
WS6 packages had "Ram Air" stickers on the nostrils.
When I bought my Z it had a cold air intake with the filter directly behind the grill. I took off the part that went down there because I don't want to take off the bumper every time I take off my intake. Now the cone filter basically sits in the factory position. Definitely has saved me time with the frequency that I disassemble and reassemble the intake.
Serviceability definitely has to be taken into account and I think you made the right move.
I have the momentum motorsports ling tube intake, so the filter sits just above the bottom bumper grille.
That's cool! How is servicing it? Long time no chat, hope you're doing well!
@@AnthonyJ350 servicing it ain't bad, ai slip the filter off under the car when ai remove the undertray to do the oil change. Yeah man indeed, all good man, hope things are well with you!
When I purchased my Z, the previous owner had an AEM CAI with the filter behind the driver side front bumper corner. I don’t like these as servicing becomes a nightmare removing the wheel and fender liner or entire bumper. When I removed the AEM kit, it was apparent that the cone filter was never being serviced. I put an OEM 06 filter assembly back on. Better filtration and no noticeable performance loss.
The 2006 airbox is the best blend of performance and serviceability for sure.
Can you measure intake air temperature in aftermarket intake systems and factory ones?
You can get gauges that intercept information from the OBD2 ua-cam.com/video/l9zGcAY3MQA/v-deo.html
My 95 f150 has a stock ram air system. You could either have a scoop that took air from the gap between the hood and grill or from the grill itself.
That's so cool! Is it a first gen Lightning?
@@AnthonyJ350 That was just standard for that time. Mine had the scoop above the core support and replaced it with the one that took the air from the grill. Unfortunately the scoop would collapse some when you revved the engine lol. I have always modified my air boxes slightly by trimming the edges or making the intake holes larger.
I love a good discussion around air intakes, but the most important part that most people seem to overlook is that it has very little do with the air flow; it's about positive and negative pressure. The ram shouldn't make any difference. As the engine is drawing air through the intake, it is creating negative pressure in that space. As long as where the air is coming from isn't creating an equally negative pressure, it will draw air no problem. Particularly while the car is driving, the cavity behind the bumper is in positive pressure so the intake is definitely not struggling for air.
So there's just more available air in the grille vs inside the fender lets say.
Could you add the link to the ram tube.
Here's the video ua-cam.com/video/TH76lSch-uk/v-deo.html
Wish this existed for my hr!
Sorry to hear that
From the OBD readings the in take air temp for my stock intake is about 10 degrees higher than the outside air temp. I always see people do the bumper cut out for the intake air box, but I’ve always wondered if that will cause problems in heavy rain.
nah its only an issue if you're literally spraying water into that area while driving at speed.
I discuss that concern in this video ua-cam.com/video/pLPaydTesa4/v-deo.html
@@kittymeow180 pouring rain + high speed = spraying water?🤔🤔🤔
Thinking of putting in a jwt poo charger intake on my 2003 350z or should i stay with the stock air box?
I like the stock air box with a K&N panel filter and replace the factory tube with one from Mishimoto or Z1.
thank you so much i will def do that last question i just recently had a muffer delete on my 350 and idk if i should put the muffler back on what should i do? is it bad for the car? i do this cuz mainly for sound mod but id like your input@@AnthonyJ350
@@JadaaFresh It's just sound. Doesn't affect the engine with or without it.
My experience with Ram Air vs Static Air intake. Both a cold fender intake and Ram Air will work the same until you hit about 40 mph or so. At that speed you start having High Pressure raming into the opening through the intake tube. The MAF sensor sees the added air thus reports to the ECM. The ECM inturn sends a signal to the injectors to increase fuel delivery. The benefits are quite noticeable at highway speeds when you need the extra horsepower to pass another vehicle. Be careful on the placement of the Ram Air opening to avoid water ingestion. They sell fail safe intake tube valves to prevent hyro lock.
On the otherhand those Fat Tubes with a cone filter that sit in the hot engine bay are useless. Independent testing has shown little to no gains as compared to a stock intake with a clean filter. It will make a lot more noise making you believe it has more power. Your wallet will be lighter also.😂
Thanks for the comment
On VQ35HR, there’s a chamber or resonator in the driver’s side’s factory air intake tube.
As most silicone air intake tubes like Z1 or Mishimoto’s, can you remove it and block the whole for better air flow?
I haven't done it on a HR so I don't know what people are doing for that chamber.
Where can buy this ?
Or new product is coming soon?
For witch vehicle?

@@alexcs0506 Check the video description. I just updated it with a product link for the 350Z.
@@AnthonyJ350 Can ship it to Hong Kong? Thanks
@@alexcs0506 Ask the seller, I don't sell it.
It’s 2023 who still thinks you can make power in a na DE 😂😂
Everyone? Because there's dyno results for improvement and the concepts don't change over time.
I don't understand the point of this comment. Do you having something to show us? Besides the Punisher logo in your profile...
Are you making fun of people for making small improvements on their vehicle and not spending every last dime on a vehicle?
