i haven't played all of these and there are some i did play but didn't like. However there's quite a few on this list that i'd wholeheartedly recommend to anyone! Skelethrone is an enjoyable soulslike with a few balancing issues in the form of difficulty spike bosses, however past that there's a big map to explore with lots of secrets. It looks dark and gritty and was all made by one guy! A very impressive game given this fact and one i enjoyed. There's also an easy difficulty for those who would just love to explore this dark world. Ghost song is one of the most immersive and atmospheric metroidvania's that is in my opinion a must play for any MV player. The worldbuilding and overal tone of this game is unrivaled and i was completely pulled into this strange and alien world for the entirity of my playthrough. Combat is a bit slow indeed but the exploration is top notch! Dark devotion initially scared me with the roguelike mechanics but once i had beaten a few bosses and unlocked some permanent gear i fell in love with the combat. I can easily say that dark devotion has some of THE BEST bosses in the genre. I loved every boss fight and some of these can stand next to the likes of blasphemous or the last faith. Moonscars is a game that's just downright depressing in a good way. The whole world feels so melancholic and drained of joy, it's truly addictive to explore it. The amazing pixel art, among the best i've ever seen, is incredibly well made and the music is so sombre and beautiful. Bosses are fun and the combat is super satisfying thanks to amazing animations. Vigil the longest night is a game that has some janky mechanics and weird storytelling but the unsettling visuals and MASSIVE map to explore make it a true standout soulsvania. You can easily lose dozens of hours in this game experimenting different builds and weapons. It has good replay value due to some branching quests as well. Death's gambit afterlife is incredible. While it can be very hard you can also become overpowered yourself as some of the builds are broken. I've seen people destroy bosses that had destroyed me for hours so it allows a lot of freedom. Especially the amazing voice acting, cool storytelling and beautifull pixel art are noteworthy with one of the best soundtracks too. Both blasphemous and blasphemous 2 are some of THE BEST the genre has to offer, they're among the best games ever made period. There's very few games that have as good worldbuilding as blasphemous and they truly give an unforgetable experience! Both are must plays for metroidvania fans as well as fans of soulslikes in general. There's few games with more fun bosses than the last faith. Even just thinking about that game makes me wanna jump back in and fight the bosses because they're so incredibly well made. The combat is perfect, the pixel art is among the best ever seen and the music is beautiful. Another must play! Ender lillies quietus of the knights has some of the most fun combat i've ever played. While the game suffers from enemies/bosses that are just too tanky it's as a whole still a very fun experience and one easily worth recomending. It can test your patience with the tanky bosses but they're tons of fun to fight. I'm excited to play the sequel when it's done! Both mandragora and spirit of the samurai look like a lot of fun. I only got to try spirit of the samurai's demo and was sad to see it not have any boss fights but the claymation really gives it a creepy vibe and the full game will have some amazing horror aspects to it i think. Mandragora on the other hand looks like another perfect soulsvania to play. Salt and sanctuary is probably the closest you can get to 2D darksouls in every way and it's a brutally difficult game with high replay value. It is weird thought that the footage shown in this video was from its sequel salt and sacrifice which is more of a monster hunter style game where you hunt and kill mages. i've yet to play ender magnolia and nine sols but i'm certain they're tons of fun too. Grime is as well but given the developers origins and their stance on the conflict they're in makes me not recommend either grime 1 or their upcoming sequel. HK is good but it keeps getting praised so much that i don't want to further contribute to that. Worth playing but not talking about
YE WE MADE A LIST! It's kinda surreal to be on a list with some of these behemoths! For those of you scrolling through, check out a lot of these games! Great explanations for each.
I love when the devs add certain color & light fx, but some of that enemy flashing is WAY too overwhelming.. I don’t want to be blinded with a flashbang each time I strike an enemy for 20hrs+ 😵💫
Nice & solid list, since you mentioned Blsphemous 2 next to the first one, I'll mention the sequel to Hunter X: Hunter X codename T. I'll wait for Ender Magnolia & Mandragora :)
@felipezapata6148 separation into zones instead of 1 fluid map. Hunts for mages. I think people were looking for more of the same and they changed it up a bit. Sanctuary is better but sacrifice is a good game. Wait til it's on sale
If a game doesn't have a stamina indicator it's no longer a Soulslike. 🤣🤣🤣 throw out half of them... So any game that has bosses and dodging is soulslike which is nonsense. You are trying to compare warm and soft.
Even the lack of visual stamina bars, many of these games still have natural dodge/attack cooldowns, so it still functions the same… Also, I’d imagine any “dying mechanics” is reason for most ppl to label them as ‘Souls-Likes’ + more subtle game designs like currency being souls etc
Not always the case. I use a set of around 10-12 metrics and figure if a game hits around 85% of them it’s likely a soulslike. Below are a couple of examples of soulslikes without a stamina bar: Tails of Iron Tarnishing of Juxtia They both hit basically every other soulslike metric, just no stamina bar.
@@SadTown99some recent soulslikes (or soulslites) don’t have soul fetch after death either, but feature almost all of the other normal souslike metrics. WuKong Stella Blade

Wow, nice explanation for each games ^^
@Exvarghra yes you as well, great list. And i also want to add eden's guardian as honorable mention.
Oh yeah missed that one, really amazing blasphemous-like game, cant wait for it!
Both Ori games are fantastic.

That looks like salt and sacrifice. The sequel to salt and sanctuary
That's right, I just realized. I made a mistake on my editing. lol my bad....

May I ask what the promp is to that thumbnail image? Looks great, and it’s very hard to make 2d sidescroller images with ai art
Hello, the prompt is a secret ;) As for the place, I use dall e
@ ok then, disappointing
Bro no 1 is salt and sacrifice..not santuary
lmao
You're right lmao! This is what I get for editing while half asleep
@Exvarghra no problem 😊
I like your content, but thinking of Salt and Sanctuary is better than Hollow Knight.
