Didn’t know you had to go the RED fort as ‘coalition PM’. I thought the PM goes to the Red fort only as 'the PM of India'. Because, I never heard the phrase ‘Coalition PM speech from Red fort’ when Maunmohan Singh was the PM- with about a 100 less seats than the BJP has today.

I'm not from WB, but I stayed in Bangalore in 2016 when 2 black women's clothes were torn by mobs 2 separate incidences. There were only around 50k medical seats till 2014, which is now over 1 lakh. Means congress created 50k medical seats in 65 years while Modi created 50k in just 10 years. Modi vowed to increase the number of seats to 1 lakh 75 thousand in next 5 years.

While examples for each area in the speech abound, just a case in point is the clear and glaring skew in the political affiliations of leaders facing corruption charges, not to mention the reversal of these charges upon the accused changing party.

Ashamed, Abused, Cheated, Betrayed, Corrupt, Disgrace, nautanki, Drama, Eyewash, Hypocrisy, Incompetent, Negligence, Dictatorial, daadagiri, taanashahi, apmaan, Childishness, Criminal, Mislead, Untrue.
Organized corruption like paper leak, or by powerful corporate houses or politicians like ajit pawar, praful patel, naveen jindal, ranjan salvi, amol kritikar, iqbal mirchi case, they don't fear laws, due to connections with ruling Party, instead they thrives in rigid systems to commit crimes.
It is like "Maan Ki Baat" with visuals. I firmly believe NO SANE MIND takes his words seriously now. Watch out for what he does. While he was lecturing on Women Safety, 2 famous rapists had been released on parole who has ability to garner votes for BJP. Don't forget how Brij Bhusan Singhs have been protected.
Dynasty free politics in India is like catching the rainbow's end. For every such 'non-dynast' politician there will be at least half-dozen family members, back-seat drivers, controlling that person. Isn't BJP controlled by Sangh PARIVAAR?

The Independence Day speech should not become an annual ritual, where year after year the ramparts of the Red Fort are a mute witness to a rigmarole which plays out before an invited audience. In the rendition of the speech their appears no honest commitment to the citizens or a strong resolve to meet their hopes and expectations. What is needed is action, because it speaks louder than words.

After every speech of Modi, many people cry that he spoke thus and did not speak as they wanted to. They feel very disheartened that they are not appointed as Speech writer for Modi so that they can include everything on earth in his speech and voice their narrative. Keep waiting for more years in a hope that thing to happen. Meantime do analyze brilliant speeches of Rahul Gandhi, you will find so many intelligent utterances. Contrast is clear.

A reputed journalist should be careful about your wording. The devious law by Modi govt was 'banning' "Instant Triple Talaq" not Triple Talaq itself. Also Instant Triple Talaq was banned by Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Mercy be upon him) and penalised in earlier Muslim states.

Population control and NRC is the need of hour in India.
Modi ji's call for a secular civil code to replace the current communal one clearly struck a nerve, as evidenced by the flurry of fantastical and ironic objections from the usual suspects. Hopefully, this signals a BJP that is becoming more adept at coining names. While the dharmic BJP may never reach the linguistic cunning of the left, it could still move away from missed opportunities like the clumsily named CAA.
Wish you a happy Independence day too, Shekhar sir. A few thoughts on your observations:
1. It's clear that government is waiting for 2027 to conduct the census, isn't it? The women's reservation bill clearly says it will come into effect after the constitutionally mandated delimitation exercise conducted after the first census after 2026. I think that's a clear indication of where the GOI's mind is at, and I imagine that the call to not conduct the 2021 census was a deliberate executive decision. Henceforth, maybe we will see the census held in 2027, 2037, 2047, etc., ? Idk, I'm speculating.
2. I don't think the PM said or even implied that *If someone doesn't agree with Mr. Modi*, they're a negative nelly (or whatever other phrase you used). I see that as a stretch because I've seen nothing in the last ten years that would justify that statement. I may have bought it in 2014 when I didn't have data, but not in 2024. And forgive me for saying this, but I think Indian journalists must adapt to new realities more quickly.
3. Mr. Modi can tell the media to show X or Y and create fear in the hearts of criminals all he wants. The narrative during the times of the Nirbhaya tragedy was that if GOI passed tougher laws, it'll serve as a deterrent. Yet, 12 years later, here we are once again. Unless the governments of the country bring in police reforms, and GOI and the courts bring in judicial reforms to make justice delivery more efficient and responsive, a strong sense of confidence in the law enforcement and justice system is just shared delusion. The PM should be more concerned with what the GOI must do.
4. On a lighter note: "Nobody says move back to the old system (of taxation)" - please don't give them ideas, they're sitting on a whole mine of bad ideas anyway. 😅

It's growing @ around 2 crore per year
The population will keep growing at least for next 40 years and would stabilise at around 169 crore around 2069. The population will get aged with time. But ageing as a problem is around 75 years away. By the end of the century we will be around 150 crore. That is a big number wrt the area india have. I hope you will note this in your future episodes.

1. Who told Shekhar that China is in big trouble due to population growth slowing? It might have social issues of taking care of old populace but not economically! What sort of logic is this for a country with a stock of over 1.5 billion population? In fact, India has a huge population issue with the highest number of people in the world due to high birth rates, even if we talk of population dividend!! 2. Modi is now talking the same things under sweltering heat for a 100 + minutes. He has not delivered on many of the items he promised in his second term. He should deliver them fast otherwise by 2029, he will lose his respect and will be ready for replacement. Simple, hard political truth. His other major failures are on Agricultural, climate and actions like afforestation, unemployment for the unskilled, unemployable young voters etc. 3. Of course, Shekhar is on his usual nonsense when he talk of coalition PM. If Modi delivers on many items by 2026, he can go for mid term polls too and come back on his own. Modi is Modi and though we criticize him as we have high expectations from him, there is NO alternative to him. Let us be clear about this.
