- The time finally came I was tired of my old 2008 Silverado and all the problems I had with it. After searching for weeks at used trucks I just couldn't justify the high sticker prices with no warranties, I wanted piece of mind and to just travel when I pleased. 2 year old used trucks with 40k miles are selling for just under msrp of brand new trucks so I made the only logical decision and splurged on a fully loaded 2022 duramax diesel 3.0 lm2 RST z71 Silverado. I'm extremely happy with my purchase the truck is so nice compared to my old truck and has been everything I wanted as well as the resale value is only going up on these trucks. Being a half year truck so high optioned this will be a pretty rare truck with the duramax option.
With new emission systems, try and not idle the truck, keep DEF tank full, and add fuel treatment to lube the pumps. But that is one sweet looking Z71. Congrats on the come up!!!
I appreciate the advice I know you deal with these def systems everyday 😅 such a good truck so far thank you!!
I have a 2018 Cummins/Aisin 3500 SRW Cummins. Should I add an extra lift pump to it or leave it like it is? I know it has a CP3 and I keep the def fluid full. It’s not deleted. What kind of fuel treatment? Thanks
Living in Florida the worst thing you can do is just shutting it off after a trip.
I leave mine running and lock the doors with the key fob, and it will shut it self off after in a couple of minutes.
I just picked one up, any thoughts on def? Only ac delco def?
@@Jerzeyguygenuinely curious on why you’re supposed to do this? Is this to help with cooling the engine off or is this for emissions system?
I love the truck! Drove 2300 miles and only filled the truck four times and DEF once with only two ticks from full. I wasn't hauling anything yet! But so far, I also love this Turbo Deisel!
mines still solid 23k miles now
Wow, this is a great review of the Silverado. We appreciate your business!
Congratulations man. Beautiful truck. I’ve had my black refreshed rst for a few months now and I love it. Ordered it back in march and took delivery beginning of June. Have about 2500 miles on it and no issues. Enjoy
Thank you I absolutely love this truck, feel so lucky that I found this one local just coming off the truck. I was looking for a month and almost gave up these trucks in hood spec without markup are almost impossible to find without ordering one. I’m at 3700 miles now and also zero issues and not a single complaint very happy !
That thing is unbelievably sick, definitely a dream truck for $65k though. Needs a bed liner, tonneau cover, and wheel-well liners ASAP.
Thank you! Prices are a bit steep these days huh 😅hoping to keep it in good shape. 3800 miles on it now so far and I still love it. I have my old truck still that I plan to sell. once it sells I’m gonna get exactly what you mentioned also tint the front windows then some rain guards.
@@Nscardigno33 ceramic coat the paint too!
Prices are gonna keep going up and with z71 it’s supposed to have wheel liners
I’m a ford guy coming from a mainly ford family seeing my grandfather is a retiree from ford and we get employee and family pricing on vehicles. I will say if I had to buy something other than a ford, these new Silverados look really nice compared to the old ones and that all white with the black rims is a super clean truck. I’m digging the baby duramax. I wish ford never stopped the baby power stroke in the f150. Congrats man
When the baby power stroke first came out I was very interested in them as I’ve always liked ford diesel trucks. But once I was in the market for a new truck they had already stopped making them. I’ve always been a really big fan of inline 6 engines tho and my last 3 trucks were also Silverado so once I saw the new interior update and the duramax option I was sold.
Thats supposed to have rear wheel liners as part of z71 also check the paint on all your panels and lowers I had allot the fixed under warranty
No it’s not they were on restraint when I bought . I’ve owned this truck for a year now
Ok on new ones I guess not on restraint thanks
@@isrstrategies it’s a 2022.5 not a 23 I couldn’t even order them from Chevy at the time all were out of stock
Been so curious about the 3.0s so I’m gonna keep an eye out for updates with this !
I’m a sucker for inline 6’s and the gas mileage claims are what sold me. Good truck so far
I have a 2001 Silverado 2500HD Duramax LB7, 613,000 miles and counting. Great engine in a great truck. Congrats!
That’s impressive!! Hopeful for some duramax reliability myself
Congrats bro I know I would be super happy as well. I live in the Bay Area and they are selling truck above MSRP. Even tho most ppl out here don’t even leave the house to work 😂. Great looking truck I love the diesel engines
It will do VERY well on fuel, I have the 3.0 Duramax too. I'm getting on average 25 to 29 around town, and on the highway it's in the 30s easy. 37mpg is crazy on mine. Love it. I have the 2022.5 GMC Sierra Refresh though, but I didn't pay mark up either. I shopped for weeks as well.
I just finished another 400 mile drive last night best mpg was also 37.2 mpg running 72 behind a semi . I averaged about 29mpg I absolutely love this truck. So glad I waited for one I was ready to give up 😅
That’s just on incredible think about what u just said in 6lb truck getting 37mpg most 4 cylinder compact cars get that.. insane no reason to go electric imo imagine if they put this Diesel engine in an small suv ud be at 50mpg rt? It’s all about the ev movement with this government it’s bullshit
Good for you man. I have a 2015 Silverado and it's been a great truck (125k) with no issues. But I can't wait to upgrade.
thanks!! I love the truck at 3700 miles now without a single issue, the power and stability difference compared to my 2008 Silverado is insane. my old 5.3 feels like a v6 in comparison 😅 not saying it’s fast I’ve never even floored it lol just towing efficiency wise is amazing, I believe I’m gonna keep this until I’m ready for a 2500 very happy with it
@@Nscardigno33 Yeh the 5.3 gets too harsh a rep for power. It's not a dawg like people say. It's not like FAST. But it's zippy. And it's a really reliable motor for sure.
@@christopherdavisson617 not a bad engine but 3.0 is far superior I just can’t get behind another cylinder deactivation v8 after my last
I had to go 103 miles from my home to get my Silverado.. I didn't get the duramax but I got the refresh with the 2.7 Turbo. My local city was charging markups and $900 doc fees
I shopped for weeks all across the state and right before I gave up a 3.0 popped up at my local dealer. Those 2.7 are pretty powerful this year still a good choice!!
@@Nscardigno33 One dealer here had $1600 worth of fees and wouldn't budge until it was too late, another dealer acted excited about giving me a $500 rebate on a truck I just wanted to test drive, it had the color, engine (diesel) but didn't have the updated dash and didn't accept the GM Supplier Discount and another dealer in the adjacent county had addendum stickers with 7K market adjustment.. I luckily found a volume dealer in slidell La that had the truck, accepted the supplier discount AND advertised 1500.00 off MSRP on their website... I got to the lot and there were no surprises at all and all of their trucks didn't have addendum stickers on them except for like 2 only because they had lift kits... Congrats on the new ride
I will be driving 8 hours to get a match on what I ordered
Congrats man, You will be happy with this new truck of yours. Take care of her and she will take care of you.
Extremely happy with this truck massive upgrade over my last and personally I think it’s the best 1/2 ton option on the market thankful I was able to get one
The pin stripes are a nice touch!
Panama City package I can smell panama 💯💪🏾🔥
How about an update on how your truck has been holding up?
Good idea tbh I’ve been meaning to get on that it’s been 14 months and 23k miles and not a single issue out of it I absolutely love this truck will make a video soon
That’s a sick truck sir🔥Congrats! I am really interest of getting this exact same truck with the new LZ0 updated diesel!
thanks 23k miles still going strong
Preston Hood. That sounds like FWB. I used to live there.
looks good, congratulations!
Thats a wicked truck. The white looks better in person. Insanely lucky to have mine too. And didn't have pay above market up. Do some donuts after break in period
I love the truck it’s been so good no complaints at all did a little towing with it also man was that smooth! Already got 3k miles on it 😂😂
Awesome truck. Don't worry about the 3k those trucks here in Canada are above 250k and belt is still holding up fine.
my dream truck😭
totally agree I started considering buying one but thought "can I really afford this" the answer wasn't exactly yes lmaoo but I'm gonna make it happen nothing but a little extra work to be happy and comfortable. I travel too much to keep breaking down in my old truck very happy with this one
What dealership did you buy it from most dealerships charge over MSRP thanks much
Yea I searched for about a month trying to find one at a good price . Preston hood Chevrolet
It looks awesome!!!
Want to get a truck but these gas prices got my pockets on lock and this 'transitory' inflation ain't helping.
Hard to believe a steakhouse next to a strip club would ever close. Haha
Great looking truck, congrats.
Lmaoo that’s a solid point there’s another strip club across the street too . Thank you 🙏 3k miles down not a single complaint
how is the truck ? any issue with the 3.0 ? I want buy one but I dont know nothing about diese
absolutely love it 23k miles now no issues 11k miles are towing 5500lb
That's the one dude. The 3.0 duramax is a damn good motor.
23k miles now still solid
seen these for 52.5 this months on the west coast
Well considering msrp for base rst is 54k I’m not surprised. with the options mine has that’s where the added value is. I’ve also owned this truck for 7 months now and have 10k miles on it 2023 is out of course the 22.5 is reduced
@@Nscardigno33 just purchased a 3.0 duramax 2022.5 RST with Z71 55.720 on monday was otd for 60k
Wonder how much they charge you for those pinstripes... I went to a dealer close to Tampa and pinstripe with tints were $499 walk out of the dealer
Not sure it’s not mentioned on the winder sticker I want to tint the front windows soon tho
I'm a Chevy salesman. I almost bought a black rst Duramax.. I couldn't bring myself to it. . The motor just didn't do it for me vs the 6.2. leather is over rated. 6.2 resale is the best. Those are sooo rare. I get Duramax in alot
6.2 is Only rare cuz the lifters fall out of them before you even get to service the transmission at 45k miles. If youre buying a truck for acceleration you’re buying a truck for the wrong reasons. Leather stays far cleaner than cloth especially in my line of work I’m a mechanic those seats would be ruined in no time
@@Nscardigno33 I don't get dirty so I'm good without the leather package and it's under warranty and I won't keep it past that. I work there.. so if I get lifter issues, than I will get a demo to drive. Not worried about it. I have a motorcycle for nice summer days.. and I don't like how leather is cold in winter and hot in summer
@@xpurpled Ileather just looks nicer I have heated seats and a remote start with ac to solve that. don’t plan to keep mine after warranty either but I have 100k to worry about that vs your 60k . I’m sure you don’t mind the 15mpg on the way to your office job but I travel out of state a lot normally with a trailer hooked up and probably still get better mpg than you while towing a trailer vs you empty. I love my duramax and all the guys on the 3.0 pages prefer them over gas too. I understand tho your just a salesman not a mechanic all the sales guys kept trying to sell me on a 6.2 too but it’s cool I know they don’t know any better they just see more horsepower and assume it’s better
How's the milage been?
That truck is a fuckin beast!! I would love to own one but as many have mentioned..... the price is steep but to each their own. I really like that truck slot and have heard ALOT of good things about the 3.0. Mainly fuel mileage but other things too.
i agree the prices are wild but looking at the used market I wanted a 6.7 diesel ford and those things were 50k with almost 100k miles 😭1500 is all I needed for now tho and I’m a sucker for inline 6 engines . just really didn’t wanna have to work on my next purchase so 100k warranty was really a piece of mind . absolutely love the truck tho . 30mpg unloaded and I’ve been seeing 21mpg towing my car trailer. great power for towing also compared to my last 5.3
@@Nscardigno33 I really like it. I'm glad your happy with it. I'm a chevy guy but those new power strokes are sweet. Those mpg numbers are awesome and plenty of truck if your not towing enormous loads. ALOT more tech than vehicles in the past so the price is going to reflect that plus the upcharges for economy and inventory etc.
I love the truck I'm a little on the fence about the diesel not because I think it's bad or anything just because I'm a bit naive never owned a diesel
This is also my first diesel , I’ve always wanted one but didn’t really need a 2500. I also didn’t want the bad fuel mileage or parts costs that come with fixing big Diesel engines if you ever had a problem(I was looking at used older pre emissions HD diesels) So I’ve had my eyes on these 1500 for a while. Excellent fuel mileage and 100k mile warranty Nothing to worry about really . Just gotta keep your def topped off and change fuel filter every other oil change. I’ve owned 2 5.3 trucks prior and won’t go back to gas after owning this truck I love it.
@@Nscardigno33 so are the oil change intervals the same for the diesel? Do you use the same kind of oil or is there a special oil for a diesel?
@@chrismarbrey9678 gm recommends 7k oil change intervals I plan on 5k intervals .
As far as what oil, gm also recommends using only dexos d approved oils . This would be either ac Delco dexos d or Mobil 1 espx2 . Both can be purchased off rock auto
@@Nscardigno33 how is I truck any issue ?
@@watchmanexpert 11 months in and 18k miles not a single issue . I’ve been to the dealer once and that was for the first complimentary oil change. About 8k miles have been towing . Awesome truck
now if the epa died off so we could delete and tune that 3.0 sick rig
Would be cool probably get even better mpg . I’d love to have an exhaust valve to make it louder but not all the time if it was deleted
@@Nscardigno33 plus as far as longevity and clean burning the emissions crap literally damage the engine which is crazy because having to buy cars at a higher frequency is easily argued as worse for the environment.
Looks like its leaking fluid, seems to far back to be ac ?
That’s where the ac drains on these . I’m at 16k miles now with the truck not a single issue
No exhaust brake. Fantastic truck though, I’m still waiting on mine.
When you turn tow haul mode on the screen prompts “exhaust brake on” it’s not like 3/4 ton exhaust brake and can mainly only feel on hills but it is there slightly. Would be nice if they came out with a programmer to adjust the amount of exhaust brake you get
Congratulations on your purchase sir!! A rare and beautiful beast indeed!! Over or under 50 grand out the door?
I love it so far can’t wait to start towing with it. Over 50 but I also found a few 2021 with 20-30k miles over 50k as well
Try about 60K to 65K.
@@edtv6453 62k they are proud of these things 😅
lol the steakhouse next to the strip club was definitely a vibe
nice ride
Nice truck!! What's the fuel economy?
Amazing 20mpg towing a 6k lb car trailer .. 24-26 city and 30+ on the highway under 80mph. Over 80 will be about 25ish
@@Nscardigno33 Thanks!
@@SuperQuantum69 my last 5k mile average is 22.6mpg . That’s combined with the towing I’ve done and idle time . Idle time I have a lot of as I let the truck warm before I drive everytime definitely takes the mpg down . For example on my way to work I’ll get 26mpg if I don’t let the truck warm up . If I let it warm up for 5-10 mins that same trip I get about 22mpg
@@Nscardigno33 Interesting. Thank you!
Does your truck have cooled seats and heated steering wheel?
It has heated wheel and heated seats no cooled . Unfortunately not an option for rst only the high country has that and I couldn’t justify another $8k just for the addition of cooled seats and a rear view mirror that flips to camera as it has everything else and 9 other cameras already lol. Plus I don’t like all the chrome on high country
@@Nscardigno33 I one hundred percent agree, I had a 19 f150 lariat that had cooled seats which was great in the summer, so it’s unfortunate that the Silverado doesn’t have it. But the heated steering wheel is a plus. I wonder if you can special order a rst with cooled seats.
@@calebfelts962 possibly but not sure. this was special order with all the options but dealer ordered I just got lucky walking in and it just coming off the truck. Katskinz sells retrofit seat covers with cooling but they are like 3500 😂
@@Nscardigno33 haha yea that’s what I’m trying to avoid.
Are your mirrors manual or power fold?
manual fold I think power fold is only a high country option
Is that the new i6 duramax engine they re did for 2023?
Lz0 is the new engine they just started building those yesterday. Not available in any trucks yet. I didn’t want one anyways lm2 is proven pretty good. I’d never buy a first production year engine, could be good but there’s added emissions, few new parts and get like 30 Hp gain which in a truck this size you won’t be able to feel. That power bump was purely a paper figure to get people excited in my opinion.
@@Nscardigno33 I agree, put focus on HP/TQ
Gorgeous truck, but we will all regret the day buyers started accepting MSRP as a good deal...it's not.
unfortunately we are in the real days of supply and demand and many willing to pay much more. there are only so many of certain items available. its not the same as 5-10 years ago when you could go to a dealer and have your choice of 15 diff trucks with every option every color etc. these days you go to a dealer and will be lucky to see 5 trucks on the lot most of them being base models. I wanted a 3.0 duramax no exceptions and options were very slim. I spent 2 months looking and almost gave up as all I could find were dealers marking up base models. I needed a new truck badly so I got a loaded out example for what most are paying for base models. I would have loved to pay less as prices on anything are crazy but if you really want something sometimes you gotta pay for it. Very happy with the truck regardless of the price ,its just money ill make more tomorrow maybe not much but always some money coming in
@@Nscardigno33 History shows us that market conditions are temporary, and that includes what we have experienced over the last couple years. With inflation out of control and the Fed raising interest rates to try and stop inflation, consumer activity will slow down dramatically in the coming months and that will drive prices down. It's a slow process, but I expect vehicle prices to gradually return to rational levels over the next year and that's when I plan to buy a truck.
@@dlg5485 only time will tell. I didn’t buy the truck for sport I absolutely had to have a new vehicle to continue making money. Waiting who knows how long for prices to “come down” For me it wasn’t a choice. I didn’t want a new truck I needed one. Used prices are absurd 2019s selling for $5k under brand new .so technically I made the most rational decision buying new now I have a 100k mile warranty and not a worry.
What was the MSRP on it?
Congrats!
How do you turn on the adaptive cruise control? I fiddled with mine and tried reading the instructions with no luck.
2022 1500 RST LM2 (Duramax 3.0)
On the left side of the steering wheel press the guage button. right next to that in the center button push down to enter cruise while at speed
The 3.0 duramax is the only engine to get with the Chevy 1500. All their other motors are just crap garbage! It’s the truck I would like but I think I’ll have to go with its big brother L5P duramax
Completely agree after my last AFM 5.3 and now owning this never again will I buy a gas truck . Extremely happy with my purchase. After I grow out of this 2500 will be next for me as well!!
What did it cost?
