As an RN for 23 years, a lot of these people who have gone through these procedures will experience chronic pain for the rest of their lives.
I studied biology and earned my PhD in biomedical engineering. Between the covid outbreak til now I have lost all faith in the medical and public health fields. We had a brief and shining moment when the medical field did more good than harm but we've reverted to horrific practices of uninformed human expermentation.
Real doctors of biomedical engineering know how to spell "experimentation."
And, they fully grasp that medical technology has saved and prolonged billions of lives.
I went to study universities for many years too.
I mean, I don't know what that even means "informed consent".

Obviously a surgeon isn't going to operate without the patient signing something. And you can't tell me a 16 year old asking to have their breasts moved doesn't know what that means!
I definitely agree with you wholeheartedly and honestly I’m sorry for your wake up call. It seems as though the problem is quite simple to diagnose yet mountainous to resolve. The problem: the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry has put its hooks into our doctors and medical institutions, both private and public. The bigger problem: getting people to comprehend this, which poses itself quite the difficult task when the media and our politicians are both in their pockets as well.

Therapist of 15 years here. White, male, heterosexual, actual classic liberal who still TREATS gender dysphoria in a clinically responsible way and tries to get my clients to accept their realities rather than to cosponsor their delusion. Speaking up at conferences has been met mostly with contempt and kept me pretty much alone during the lunch hour and I am okay with it. What I am not okay with is the idea that none of us are speaking against it. We have the courage (hell there is a documentary coming out about me being a dissenting voice against PED use in sports) but there are so few of us and we are not given a platform to discuss our experiences and I have been rather successful helping my clients accept themselves. Even the clients who have left for more “gender-affirming care” have come back. Some of us are trying to get our clients to identify with what they do, not with some arbitrary characteristics they were born with or decided they had. We are the minority, sure, but are never invited to the table.

Thank you for affirming that there is still true help for people. I am despairing that the man my daughter married has been taking estrogen for over a year. He and his siblings were horribly abused mentally by their mother (other siblings are in therapy and one has attempted suicide so I know that's real). How he doesn't look to getting counseling to deal with that is beyond me! My daughter is standing by him, and even affirming his new name & feminization efforts. But I can't say anything for fear of losing my daughter. I appreciate any advice and prayers!

Throughout my younger years I was super reckless and developed many bad habits; anyone who saw me would think I was a total moron. I realized part of the reason was my ability to rationalize bad choices. I could always construct a convincing reason to do what my selfish impulses desired. It's honestly kind of frightening haha.
Luckily I survived my 20s and after some painful learning am fully aware that my initial reasons for wanting to do (or not do) something are likely off the cuff and after the fact excuses for selfish/hedonistic impulses. I approach all my beliefs and decisions with great skepticism now and never assume I am in the right or being a good person. It has helped a lot.
I've also come to the conclusion that very few people throughout history have ever looked in a mirror and decided "Im going to be a bad person today." Even Hitler and Stalin likely thought their path was the righteous one.
Seriously, how can anyone over the age of 30 think its a good idea to prioritize the short term happiness of a child over long term ramifications? No wonder we have a generation of 'adults' that through temper tantrums when they don’t get their way. That, plus social media and the way things are taught in school has created an epidemic of personality disorders.
I don't think he believes "it's insane". He convinced himself he's right. Simply being an Endocrinologist implies no particular experise & certainly implies no moral insight. Just like the roofer - who at first (and second) glance seemed to know everything possible about roofing - but resided over a terrible, yet expensive, new roof over my house. They work in this field because it's easy money for them. So the field attracts those without strong ethical foundations.

Imagine telling a 12-year-old before puberty has begun "if you do this you won't be able to have kids of your own and you probably won't be able to have sex". What 12-year-old thinks about having children of his/her own? Most kids at this age don't care. Some may be thinking, "So what, I can adopt a child." These children have never had sex. How are they supposed to be able to judge what they are losing if they are deprived of the opportunity to do so.
What makes the actions of these people an unimaginable crime is the fact that most young people grow out of their "gender insecurity" before the age of 18 - and this has long been known. It is also known that "trans" people have the highest suicide rate up to 8 years AFTER the IRREVERSIBLE surgery.
What's worst, in my view, is that it has long been known that over 80% of young people grow out of their "gender insecurities" by the age of 18.
What's striking is that these people seem to lack any awareness of doing something wrong, but on the other hand they are aware that they are committing unjustifiable, inhumane acts, because otherwise they wouldn't lie about the non-existent evidence regarding the benefits of the "treatments" and try to hide their actions. They still deny that the surgeries are carried out on teenagers, even after evidence became public.

The absolute horror is taking kids away from the parents who refuse to affirm their kids identity and don't themselves give consent to any of this madness and have their parental rights taken away. I heard a guy the other day from Canada who said parents don't have rights, they have responsibilities. Only the child has rights. This is what these maniacs are pushing in Canada.
In 2023, the California Senate Judiciary passed AB 957, which would consider it abusive for a parent to not affirm a child’s gender “identity” and would deny custody to non-affirming parents during custody disputes.

In a weird way I think they're right. However, they gloss over the fact that a child has a right to their parents.
I know the logic is convoluted, but hear me out. Only the child has a right, the right to have bith parents. The government can't be responsible for that right, because it is incentivized to remove that right. That means the only ones that can stand against the government to protect the right of children to have their parents are the parents themselves.
In other words, a parent isn't entitled to having their child, but children needs their parents so much society can't function if the government is given too much power when deciding when a parent is abusive towards their children.
Dr. Peterson, if I may share my point of view on this topic as a parent with teen children during the Covid lockdown time period. In the fall of 2020 many students started the new school year with laptops or tablets provided to them by the school districts free of charge. My children attend public schools within the largest school district in the state of Idaho. These laptops and tablets had content filters built in, yet youtube was not filtered. So these young people spent a large portion of their lockdown time watching videos from influencers in their 20's. These 20 something influencers were the ones making the trans movement popular and then it becomes a trend that the young teens want to be a part of. At this same time, many of the older more conservative school teachers quit teaching and/or retired early to escape the insanity over the pandemic. The new replacement teachers being fresh out of school were liberal extremists, single, with no children of their own. So many of these "trans" kids don't even want to change their biology. They just get anxious and excited to have a coming out with a new name and gender identity so they can feel like they are participating in this trend. They get the peer attention they crave by their new name. The teachers go along with the new name, even when that name isn't even used or acknowledged in their homes. Teachers and school admin MUST stay on the same side as the parents.
What an insane theory, my to girls 8, 10 watch UA-cam all the time probably saw plenty of transgender content yet they have never expressed to me at any time they are confused about who they are and what there gender is , if yours or others children are confused or being forced into thinking they aren’t what they were born as then quite simply you aren’t doing your job as a parent, because ultimately you are responsible for them until they are 18 ,so you have failed them period ! How hard is it to monitor what content they watch ? How hard is it to pull them out of a school that acts in a manner that is harmful or manipulative towards children who are supposed to have their innocence protected . ? how hard is it to remove access to laptops or iPads or phones ? Except for the ethical standard of "trans people are actually trans and this intervention will save their life", which is the legal ethical standard in Canada. It's mandated. You're looking in the abstract at what you think ethical standards should be based off how they used to be, but they're not anymore.

I knew this was coming too. TLC featured a young boy that identified as a female and they chronicled this child’s journey on hormone blockers and at 18 a full on sex change. They had extreme problems creating new genitalia because the child was put on hormone blockers at such a young age that they didn’t have enough tissue to invert the child’s biological genitalia to that of the opposite sex. They had to use the child’s bowel to create the new genitalia. This young adult now weighs at least 300 pounds and is so unhealthy physically and mentally.
This child who didn’t go to high school really ended up being accepted into Harvard and at that time I couldn’t understand how this child was accepted by Harvard. But now I know why… because the child was accepted on DEI policies.
It’s all so sad. I am praying for all the children.

But when it comes to doing this to children, what we're witnessing now is something even worse than the willingness to do it, and that's the EAGERNESS to do it.
