I was thinking this while listening to him speak. The "woke" as they refer to, do not think or analyze for themselves, and to engage in a conversation with them is useless because their response is reciting a narrative that they remembered to be true. There is no changing their attitude. Common sense doesn't work. I showed a video by Zach of Wolves and Finance on youtube about the Civil Trial in New York regarding Trump. Zach explains it like he is talking to a 6th grade classroom, and the LEFT response was Plausible Deniability. The comments weren't intelligent but childish bullying responses such as, "I dont trust Conservatives," or "Zach is lying." The LEFT likes the "herd" mentality as it fits their big government will take care of you agenda. I read a book, "Cynical Theories" by James Lindsay about how Activist Scholarships made everything about Race, Gender and Identity. It starts out with postmodernism and explains how our younger generations have been conditioned. Unfortunately, Im not as optimistic as this speaker. This Marxist Socialism appears to be taking over our Country.

I almost wanted to cry listening to his speech! I was a liberal, more so a conservative now, found my Catholic Latin roots, and have been Awake for awhile! I’m an RN that fought getting the jab and won! However, waking out of the matrix can be a lonely depressing place to be. However, there is no going back for me❤

Attributing media misinformation, which absolutely is true, to “wokeism” is curious. Anybody who uses that term is immediately disqualified from relevance. That’s because there is no definition of the term that is commonly understood.

I can't believe this much truth is allowed in one video on UA-cam. Every person in this country needs to see this video. Too bad I have already parted ways with all the woke people that I knew and don't even have enough common ground to communicate let alone reason with. Just to see this many people listening to this man gives me hope.
Don't be fooled. It appears Mr Shellenberger does the same thing as the people he criticises, ie. Cherry-pick data to mislead. The data presented on global CO2 emissions is misleading and the conclusions incorrect. He uses “Our World in Data” for UK, France and USA CO2 emissions, however, he uses a graph from “Zeke Hausfather” for global emissions. Firstly the “Zeke Hausfather” graph is depicting land use emissions whereas the “Our World in Data” graphs are CO2 emissions due to fossil fuels and industry, totally different. If you use “Our World in Data” for global emissions you will see that total emissions has not peaked but continues to rise. The reason global emissions continue to rise is because China, India and numerous other countries emissions continue to increase. I stopped watching after the book plug as I didn’t want to commit to fact checking everything else.

This is the most amazing speech! I am stunned by the incredible facts presented by Michael schellenberger. And not just the facts but his extraordinarily phenomenal ability to communicate these facts is stunning! This speech should be required for all High School and college students to watch. What a superb lecture I just enjoyed. Thank you for the university to allow this presentation. As a 83 year old I needed his spirit of optimism. Having survived WWll , I hope this government comes to its senses and has the courage to make appropriate changes. It's not courageous anymore. That's why I'm not putting much trust in Shellenberger right now. It's called a Limited Hangout, Shellenberger posted things from the Twitter files which we already knew. It just looks courageous because he's prominent in public discourse right now. But I would remind everyone that Matt Taibbi has been all over this stuff for years. He doesn't get invited to lecture. Shellenberger has so much content just from the last 5 days that I have a hard time believing he is acting on his own. Or that he believes what he says. Why didn't he talk about UFOs for 15 minutes like he did on Rising yesterday. Especially if it's so "ontologically shocking" as he says. I think he's just like his father, in the CIA.

Five months after the post , I am enjoying this now. Clarity of thought and expression delivered with a deep passion.
Michael is an amazing person. So intelligent, wise, he searches and then shares his wisdom with all of us. That´s so beautiful. He is a beautiful person, but he is also a strong person. Really inspiring. i also have to tell that he helped me to find peace in my state of mind and emotions, because I felt really alone with my way of thinking. Now I know I am not alone.. It´s such a grace nowadays for having the possibility via internet to network. :) thanks University of Austin for posting this 🙏.

lets reverse this idea of a "cost" ... this should now just simply be seen as the original facts as they are, and the people that display them as the new trust-worthy media, or the new media entirely, and the true leaders and power holders. Truth is simple. This is the new mainstream. In my mind, and in reality as well.

I am a nurse and worked with a nurse who died after her vaccine. She was beautiful and left three children. I had several blood transfusions due to severe anemia and refused the vaccine but was threatened with termination daily and had to get a medical excuse

Absolutely.
It shouldn't be framed simply as "racial division and strife" which means becoming aware of history and how the world operates is somehow bad. Certain people should and need to become critically aware of how the modern world has been formed, not just from a north American context. This is not something which is passing or a fad or part of a fleeting movement. This is the history of the planet and it should inform how the planet is "reformed" almost going forward.
As always, the wet dream for particular people, and those who follow this man even if generally it is against their own people, is for there to be no races/no "other" people, that these people do not have a history, that they do and did not occupy the planet, if fact they do not exist, which is the actually complete opposite of what is actual truth an reality.

I always advocated for my patients. It was the narcissism and power of the people I worked for that was disturbing. The patients were misguided by that and social media. The parents and clients were being "emotionally blackmailed." Speaking the truth was always a problem in that environment.

Michael Shellenberger is an American hero. God bless and keep Michael Shellenberger as he continues to bring irrefutable truths to the American public. This is probably the most important speech given by anyone in the last 50 years. Yet sadly... half of the student audience seems to be entirely apathetic and ambivalent. I hope by talk's end, all of the students will have opened their minds to Michael's message.

Wow! A whole month to come to this... Michael (and Matt also) has done a great job informing the public. The thing is that people are in denial.
I think too many people don't want to do some hard thinking. It's easier to just repeat the 30 second soundbites they hear from the Woke and other ill-informed people. I do think the tide is slowly starting to change regarding these subjects. But it needs more of us to call "Bull-Sh_t"!

Came across this outstanding lecture after listening to several videos debating the cancellation and de-monetizing of Russell Brand. Most people I know personally, are still asleep. When I open a conversation with them they do not want to know. It’s frustrating and stresses me out so not doing it anymore. I wish I had the calm demeanor and eloquence of Michael S. Maybe it would be easier.
This speech clarified and articulated the root of modern day rot better than anything I've come across since the stink set in. Shellenberger is a saviour. The best part is, I feel better suddenly . . . at least the problem is well identified now. This presentation needs to be shared widely.
Why did he say " there is Climate Change" when earlier he said there wasn't? 46:10... Disappointing.
Why do you feel better. This message has been there, the data has been there, as I have seen it many times. The people who need to be enlightened by the message have already rejected the data. They make up logic to discredit the message and call it biased and racist. All of us praising this message thinking, OMG yes!...is a temporary feel good as we are the only ones praising it because we already think this way.
This message only falls into the minds of those who already have this mindset.
Woke is destroying people and cities and will continue. They will not all of the sudden say "ah ok, I just didn't see it that way".
This civilization will fall.

All of these positions should be engaged in rational debate, but instead, only the most politically extreme view prevails by suppressing all other viewpoints.

Of course there is climate change but it is the natural cycle of heat and cold not influenced by man.
Our burning of fossil is not affecting this change.

Its so interesting that Michael has now shifted to understanding the base level reasons that people are acting the way they are and why this is all happening. That is, trauma, personality issues, psychopathy, and the need for meaning and tribe. I am a fan of The Crappy Childhood Fairy, whom I know you, Michael, are friends with. This is a nice coalition of ideas suitable for a potluck dinner!
Dark content but an uplifting message. We need more positivity in dealing with woke negativity and all of us need to speak out when we see BS and not leave it to the few.
This made me cry. Ive thought of all these things before but guess it was just the conversational approach that just made me feel a cathartic human connection while also feeling not alone and gratitude for this hero.

This is one of the best presentations I think I've ever seen on UA-cam! I only discovered the University of Austin, and Michael Shellenberger, a few weeks ago. As an ex-academic with a doctorate in philosophy I'm not using (mainstream academia being too corrupt for me; Shellenberger barely scratches the surface), I'd love to join them if they'd have me - sent an application just this month. This will mean moving back to the U.S., as I've been living in Chile for over a decade now, but paying close attention to affairs back home. The rise of Donald Trump should have been predictable; also the borderline-violent reaction to Trump which is continuing, and who knows where 2024 is going to take us? Shellenberg's presentation gives me hope that one way or another, Americans will survive this fight between those who want to consolidate money and power globally and dominate, versus those who just want to be left alone to pursue their private goals and dreams. Will be seeking out Shellenberger's writings, and will be learning from those who are building up the University of Austin, regardless of whether I have any future with them or not.
Trump is the best thing that has happened in our country. People are realizing because they see a person like Trump, who had a good life, who is showing us deplorables how to truly love ourselves and our country.
This guy breaks it down really well understood and even though some people will think that he's harsh or in your face. Because he has so many things to tie together and help you make a clear distinction between so many topics. And like myself. Not all people are as articulate as Jordan Peterson. Bravo for being so brave..

I was terminated at my last job for having the audacity to listen to this during my lunch break (-the vast majority of which I diligently worked through during the time I was with this 'company').
No verbal or written warning, just instant dismissal about 90 mins after I'd finished listening...by a VERY uncomfortable line-manager who offered up the lamest 'reason' possible, and a HR manager who seemed to get a genuine charge out of what was going down. Class act.
The company is heavily woke-oriented and after my tenure there, I realised just how oppressive the atmosphere was; I felt like I had been released from a Gestapo jail or Stalin-era Soviet gulag. I'd NEVER expressed any non-woke views in any way, shape or form, but I guess the IT 'morality police' caught me.
This is WOKE culture at work - totally unconcerned about who they target and quite happy to fuck with someone's livelihood, if that's what it takes to feel good about themselves and their bullshit agendas.
Time to wake up people! This shit needs to be shut down before what's left of freedom of speech/thought/choice is lost forever.

This is one of the best and most compelling talks I have ever heard. Shellenberger is fully in command of his facts and is a masterful rhetorician.
I fell to the floor when I realized a video this truthful was available on UA-cam or anywhere public for that matter. Thank God Mr Shellenberger is intelligent enough to question the norm and brave enough to continue sharing the truth, and that there are young people in higher education institutions who still think for themselves. There is hope!!!

This is a very important presentation. I appreciate his optimism and balanced approach. Rational thought is what protects us from our tendencies towards psychopathy.
Psychopathy can't be protected against--you either are a psychopath or you aren't and they're born, not made.
