I've always loved Mark's distortion tone so much. Imo, the best hard rock/metal tone around.
Had the pleasure of standing right in front of his mesa cab when he was playing live
All I dream of playing like is Mark Tremonti, nobody else comes close to his beautiful style in my opinion.
Thanks for the lessons Mark. I really appreciate your dedication toward better understanding of the guitar for all of us.
The different shapes and practice it in the one spot. That actually is really out of the box, and it helps! Thanks
This video is for the intermediate to advanced player. A basic familiarity with the fretboard and certain scale configurations is assumed. It is good advice he is imparting based on what he has found works well for him in his capacity as the guitarist for a successful recording and live show Rock act that has gotten considerable airplay.
one of my all time favorite guitar players. in my opinion he is one of those guitar players that doesn't only rely on pure shred. if you listen to some of his solos especially from the new album, they are amazing. hes got good "feel" or "emotion", like starting off with a couple of notes here and there, the licks are like telling stories and he could fish out some unfamiliar patterns and sound that i've never heard of before. a truly inspiring guitar player.
Fantastic Mark!
This guy teaches like yngwie "first i learned this shape *picks real fast * then i learned this shape *picks real fast* now let me slow it down for you" * picks even faster*
But he will never be in yngwie's league.
@@leedemkiw.2894 Yeah? What league is that? The "I'm too hammered to speak to any of my peasant fans, where's my lobster? I NEED MORE LOBSTER" league?
Or are we speaking of the "I have no idea what year this is" league?
OH both? Sweet.
@@coreyhilson2283 relax
@@nic3286 truth hurts
I like this approach.
You rock Mark!
Thks Mark
@MrWarFreak91 completely agree!...it's not all about being the fastest...speed is nothing without feeling...mark blends both in amazing ways!
a very Satch kind of thing and if you vary the picking like pick every other note or pick 2 out of 3 notes etc etc it develops more and sounds a little different every time you use it
Great player! I'm a Brazilian fan! 😎
People who say hes a crappy teacher probably dont play guitar or are begginers. cause Ive been playin for about a year & a 1/2 and i can understand this pretty well
@DiveBombProductions I've been playing for almost 14 years now. I like Tremonti as a guitarist, but this "lesson" is anything but an actual lesson. This is a conversation between guitarists who can play professionally or are very close so they understand what's being said. Mark's showing, but not telling. He has to do both. This vid is tantamount to showing someone how you work a quantum physics problem without trying to cultivate understanding into how the problem is being solved.
This PRS is the most beatiful guitar ive ever seen in my life
I think to do this warm up things I´d need to warm up with something easier first.
Scott.. Whatever his name was, wouldn't even exist without that extremely talented band he had. These boys would have made it with or without him.
I like listening 2 Tremonti so much I bought his instructional dvd, & I don't even play
i thought i was the only one who realized this. this is so true. it goes a long way.
Legend
that guys forearms wrists and fingers are in amazing shape
one of my favs ever, easily top ten of all time, maybe even top 5
I just realised how long his pinky is omg
Long but not Paul Gilbert - kind of long
His pinky is longer than my middle finger it’s insane
@@TheRealCowlick that's what she said
Idk what every one is complaining about if its a lesson. I learned alot in this! Idk what is soo hard? But i have been playing for 7 years
Yes, this is legato! Just like alternate picking can sound different from player to player, so does legato.
@mrpinkice hes referring to the sweep video he does where hes got a ton of delay reverb and a phaser going on.
@dittotl the tab is in the magazine if you want to play it slower.
Tremonti is an iPhone X, he has a notch!
@VICmAN88 The easiest way is to pick up The Guitar Grimoire Scakes and mode book. It goes over all the scales and modes and shows what cords they work over, theoretically anyway. Hope that helps.
Mega ćwiczenia
@TrippyTheShroom u and me both! I looooove the 513
@horsieytube id have to say guthrie plays as flawless as humanly possible never heard of him before till now but I'm a fan now thanks for the info.
im an intermediate guitar player... love tremonti.. but what can i do to understand the mode or shapes hes talking about? i play by ear but want to get better at leads or solos for which im getting better but not where id like to be..
@RioUchiha he does have delay, but hes also very fast.
the best no doubt
Nice PRS guitar!!!!
good lesson , i need to practice 3 note scales
@RioUchiha u clearly haven't used delay like, ever... cuz that sound is reverb, if it was delay u would hear harmonies because the notes played before would overlap with the ones played later...
inb4 sorry for my english
@RioUchiha Also. Its a damn warm up. He is definitely fast.
Mark is a better musician ... thats his power while picking tones and notes
His voice has a natural noise gate.
For those of you that are just hitting your distortion, pay attention to the delay. Delay is a big deal. Get a good delay like a Carbon Copy and make it hit hard. That's the slap back that Mark is rocking.
Tremonster!
how much reverb do you need for a warm-up exercise?????
@fernyorgo He acctually cut that down a lot in ABIII. And i think he uses it because he likes the way it sounds....yeah that sounds about right.
@Kornergrafen ......actually, it's "Higher" by Creed.....
@marcusmarkmus with legato (esp for a stadium band like Creed) it's better to show how to get he notes in around the repeats so it doesn't sound rushed or out of time.
@Justasssu Semi-true, A. Most of us do lol. B. Delay makes my mistake repeat itself 3-4 times which makes it that much harder to forgive yourself for making ha! But in the words of Billy Gibbons -"if you make a mistake, don't worry about it!"
@riskotibor80 you're right he is a bit, probably cus he's introverted & learnt via trial & era
Errr... getting back to the video. Which edition guitar world was this video included in?
@fendermac Why thank you =)
is he using a bogner shiva? and if so is that the stock distortion?
I have never liked tremonti or creed but I have always loved his tone. I have a newfound respect for him and wish he had displayed more of his prowess, perhaps I would ahve ried to like them lol.
he is a fucking machine
Alguém sabe essa música que tocou no começo
@crrockstar01 your not saying tremonti is better than satch or vai right?
There's no such thing as playing perfect guys. music is never perfect what's the point in hating on the guy? He's good great even most people can't play his stuff well without years of practice and he has a pretty vast amount of knowledge.
What is the title of the song in the beginning?
OMG, I got work to do!
I can do the basic technique just fine, but how the hell do I practice the descending 5s and 7s to a metronome?? Anyone?
I've figured it out: the easiest way is to just count them as 6th notes. It's awkward at first but just start slow
@MrWarFreak91 I feel exactly the same way, that is why he is my biggest inspiration
What's the song at the begining of this video?
cool
@blogtvpunk
Hardly, not compared to other musicians GW has interviewed, and not to mention that those guitarists can actually apply their style and musical knowledge to bands that don't completely suck.
does anybody know what is the exact name of this guitar mark is using in this guitar lesson?!?!?!
@hellbadger....that's saying something!
@Xeranx To be honest bro, Guitar World (i think) invited him to just do a quick lesson. Nothing planned super technical but i imagine Mark was busy at the time and basically showed a quick lesson and left.
@innerdreamrecords You can keep up if you pay good attention. I agree he's fast, but once you know the key's E minor, you should be able to recognize shapes ;)
@fendermac Why would you want to?
I think Mark smoked a J with Scott Phillips then he was like FUCK! I have to do a Guitar World thing..... Love ya Mark your still an incredible player.
@MountainDProductions yeah all the editors took the time put special effects in and watching over and over
what issue was this from??
@Xeranx Well a lesson is where he teaches you something. I learned some good stuff. So idk I just dont like how people are like "This sucks!!" and what not. Just because they cant learn. BUT some people need to be taught in different ways. IMO
exclusive....to all of youtube
Wow.. I just saw a lot of my own style in what he just did.. I'm totally gonna check this dude out! =D haha..
whats the song in the beginning? it sounds so good!
Creed - higher
dang i love paul reed smith guitars....if they werent like 4000$ id buy me one
@StevieHendrix92 That's right!
@chadewatson
For some reason, I would actually believe that. I mean, I've obviously seen Paul play his fair share of licks on GW gear demonstration videos, so it doesn't seem too unlikely to me that there are more players like him around the 'office'.
@crrockstar01 The difference between Mark, Satch, Vai and Malmesteem is that Malmesteem can't play with feeling or melodically, just arpeggios. All the rest all play melodies they made up.
gutar?
What's the name of this Bogner Combo?
bogner shiva
@XxSconeManxX couldnt agree more, however, tremonti is okay, but i still completely agree, the old guys have the knowledge and the sound, not the generic shit tone everyone has nowadays
@92796Apollo Wrong. If you think that then you have never seen AB play metalingus live.
@kar98ksniper dude you got owned
why arent there tabs to this?
ATTACK OF THE BEES!!!!!! Oh, its just mark playing guitar.
0:01 to skip ad
this guy's got a fucking MASSIVE picking arm ahaha, good lesson too
Mark is an interesting player. I personally like him more as a band guy more than as a 'guitar hero' guy.
whats the song in the beggining? thnks in advance! :)
Creed - higher
@shaqdaddy11 He's teaching technique not actually licks or riffs so he doesn't need to do it slowly
what the name song opening
Faisal Putra Higher - Creed
hi which guitar pick and strings ( gauge ) does Mark uses ?
eleven
sidhanth gupta he uses dunlop nylon and im pretty sure he uses a bunch of string gauges because he uses a lot of alternate tunnings
ua-cam.com/video/-9O0SBskwys/v-deo.html
@CosmicSPC A PRS, frequently regarded as better than many Gibsons...
Since Human Clay Mark has never had bad tone
@RonnieAGonzalez thanks(:
