I've always loved Mark's distortion tone so much. Imo, the best hard rock/metal tone around.

This video is for the intermediate to advanced player. A basic familiarity with the fretboard and certain scale configurations is assumed. It is good advice he is imparting based on what he has found works well for him in his capacity as the guitarist for a successful recording and live show Rock act that has gotten considerable airplay.

one of my all time favorite guitar players. in my opinion he is one of those guitar players that doesn't only rely on pure shred. if you listen to some of his solos especially from the new album, they are amazing. hes got good "feel" or "emotion", like starting off with a couple of notes here and there, the licks are like telling stories and he could fish out some unfamiliar patterns and sound that i've never heard of before. a truly inspiring guitar player.

@DiveBombProductions I've been playing for almost 14 years now. I like Tremonti as a guitarist, but this "lesson" is anything but an actual lesson. This is a conversation between guitarists who can play professionally or are very close so they understand what's being said. Mark's showing, but not telling. He has to do both. This vid is tantamount to showing someone how you work a quantum physics problem without trying to cultivate understanding into how the problem is being solved.

For those of you that are just hitting your distortion, pay attention to the delay. Delay is a big deal. Get a good delay like a Carbon Copy and make it hit hard. That's the slap back that Mark is rocking.
