I love how nervous you are, when you touch the back of your head, like if you were talking to your high school crush haha, it shows that you are a real fan. Mark seems like a really nice guy.
Mark played a small section of Blackbird on my guitar at a meet and greet outside of our local rock station studio he had just interviewed with. It was a small meet and greet. Wasn't anything planned, just a few fans that camped outside the studio during the interview. Maybe 10 other fans there. He hung out and chatted with us for about a half hour. This was just before the release of All I Was. Such a cool down to earth guy. Amazing that he took the time out of his day for an unplanned meet and greet.
Cool dude. I admire his honesty - Hate's dry amps, likes having delay always, prefers to compose over improvisation. A lot of people will criticise those choices (pretentious players). He ain't pretending
evinoc Yup, dude is the real deal. No cover/improves his compositions are beautiful and the riffs are SICK when he needs to turn on the ROCK knob. He’s complete and for sure one of my modern inspirations in the guitar.
@@letourneauvt9566 i think he was mainly refering to people who not only have a different preference, but also believe that their way is the only way and that if you disagree, you're just stupid.
Big Chungus well said. That can be applied to ALL kinda of things these days as well. Mark Tremonti is very well respected by most musicians ether they actually listen to his bands or not. He’s legit.
i love mark since his time in Creed. he has proved us that he is not a sell out artist. brokw down with major label and chose to go with indie label just to avoid being controlled by that shitty label. that's when you know music is literally your life.
Mark is the man! So straightforward and down to earth, yet a truly elite player and songwriter. Not surprising that he's so well respected by the guitar community and music fans alike. You seemed pretty nervous initially(understandable), but it quickly became an engaging discussion. Thanks!
Honestly, in my opinion, Tyler's quality of interviews has skyrocketed since last year! I love the flow it has and the questions are making the interviewed artist think and reflect for a second, which is unlike most interviews they do! And this is the most comfortable and natural I've seen Tyler during an interview so far... and it wasn't even planned beforehand, so koodos for that too! Love it!!!
My favorite guitarist of all time for over two decades since back in his Creed days before anyone knew how good he was, I used to tell people he was a badass player back in ‘99 and people laughed at me, well well well! My favorite band has been Alter Bridge for a long time, ever since 2007 when I was sitting in the chow hall of my first duty station outside of Fairbanks Alaska and I heard the Blackbird album, which coincidentally has my favorite song of all time of the same name “Blackbird” ....great interview! The band Tremonti is also one of my favorite bands, the song have ANY bad songs!! Mark “The Tremonster” Tremonti is one of the most CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED guitarists of ALL TIME and I personally cannot figure out why
I totally agree. Tremonti is one of the absolute bests. He has gotten some wider recognition thankfully. I did a search of best guitarists and he's making it on significant lists.
That clean picking at 3:38. I have heard that bits and pieces before, it is one of the best sounds I have ever heard from a guitar. PLEASE PLEASE PUT THIS IN A SONG. PLEASE. Huge fan, love your playing.
Tremonti is one of my favorite guitarists ever. He inspired me back in the day and still does all these years later. I thought "What's this life for", as simple as it is, was one of the most beautiful guitar intros I had ever heard.
Great musician and he seems like a really nice guy too. Also really cool to see an interview like this being done by a fellow musician, it comes across a lot more genuine, that you were asking questions that you really cared about knowing the answers to rather than just following a list of generic questions. Great job man, look forward to seeing more of these interview type videos!
I have been a Mark Tremonti fan since Creed. I picked the guitar back up after almost 15 yrs of not playing and a lot of those songs were still floating in my head and I could get them through my fingers. He comes across like a regular dude and seems like he'd jam with anyone no matter they skill level.
Thank you Mark Tremonti for introducing me to D5 (halfstep down ofcourse) Tremonti is king, el presidente, if he told me the sky was purple I'd just assume I've been wrong all this time.
Tremo's a fuckin sweetheart. First time Alter Bridge came to Aus. They did like a 4 song set with POD, Disturbed and a very ordinary Aussie emo band. They played second and my buddy and I ditched the gig in hopes of getting to meet the reason we picked up a guitar. I was pretty hammered by that point. But in the ally way, there Myles was. He jumps into a van with the boys and Tremonti pops out with a guitar slung over his shoulder. My mate called out to him and he handed his guitar to a fella and jogged on over. He had an good chat with us and really gave us the time of day. What a fucking guy.
A friend of mine, who is a pretty mean guitar boss in his own right, got to sit down with Mark when Alterbridge was in Texas and trade licks with him. Also got him to sign his guitar which had recently been upgraded with Tremonti pickups. He talked about what a nice and genuine guy Mark is.
I really enjoyed that, you asked great questions and mark tremonti is an amazing guitarist and musician and always seems like such a humble, honest and relaxed guy who was more than happy to give you his time.

One of the biggest underrated players in my opinion. He has great riffs for days, amazing tone, great live and also a great writer. I like that he uses a lot of fimger pivking riffs.Been a fan since My Own Prison. Tons of great riffs on that album. The major thing I learned from Mark was to be able to use more open strings in order to navigate the fretboard. Opens up a lot of options like bends into octaves or unisons. Also when he was showing how he writes riffs(same way I do as well from learning from Mark) In the article I read he said that he will place his hand down and just move 1 finger around to make different chords, But it also said that he would do that and detune the guitar to make otherwise impossible riff chords.
