The best thing I need right now, I stumbled on this while looking for how to plant my yam in a sack but I didn't see the step by step planting of the yam, I was expecting to see the process from the beginning
Good job my friend. One suggestion: use more durable bags. Lay out your bags in rows. That will ease evaluation, inspection and access to individual bags/plants for maintenance( weed and pest control) it will also lend your process to mechanization.
Man you would have a container for measurements for precision and you would have shown us before fast forwarding it I love your . What am saying is give good example first am enjoying u.
Check to see it's not in water logged area. If it's not, it means it is some nutrients deficient, e.g nitrogen. So, get fertilizer, NPK 15:15:15 and mix with poultry manure. To get them back to great shape and health state
Great explanation on the reason some sprout faster🏆. With that in mind, wouldn't be a good idea to plant the heads separate, the tails separate, then the insides? That way the focus would be in a particular area based on type, and likelihood to sprouting faster? THANKS FOR THE GREAT INFORMATION🕊
@@JunaTabTheChosenOne I think I didn't watered mine enough. I have to start another one. This time I'll make sure it can drain better and water it more often. We have cold weather now, so I'll start it inside. It's fun to try.... I sure hope I can get a good system that works. Yams are so expensive here.
This is dependent on the dormancy state of the yam. Some can take up 2 months plus. You need to also check to see that the seeds are not decayed yet. And to make the sprouting faster, creat an enabling environment for the seeds to sprout faster.
@@ChidavAgriculturalHub pls how do I create an enabling environment for the seed to sprout? I do wet once in a week. Quantity of water is 2liters since there is no rain for now. What else can I do?
Good day Chidav, please i am interested in this venture but in a small scale. Please is their room for mentorship? How can i contact you for mentoring cus i want to start as soon as possible. Thank you
After harvest, can the same sacks be used for another planting season? How durable are the sacks? Is there any particular sack you will recommend? Thank you for the good work you are doing
They would have worn out and won't be able to carry the soils again for another cycle of production. But, if you could get or more durable sacks, with a more durable texture, you might be using them for a couple of cycles
At the seed planting take time to educate where should face down and where especially the cut set type of seed. At the end of the project what then happen to the soil that the too had been removed
Chidav do you have an idea where I can get fertilizers in Lagos. And whats the name of fertilizer you'll recommend? Another thing at what point do I stop watering my yam?
Can I plant yam any time of the year? Will yam seeds sprout anytime of the year? How long (months) will yam spend before maturity (harvest)? What nutrients (fertilizer) does yam required to have bountiful harvest? At what time do I need to apply them and possibly the i to apply? Thanks as I await your prompt response.
Yes, you can plant anytime of the year as long as you have water. It takes about 6 to 9 months to maturity. Then, for the last question, you may need to join our mentorship program. As I can't give any generic recommendations. There're certain factors that would inform nutrients recommendations.
Can you do another video of a honest comparative cost analysis of this project? Please don' take my critique of this project personally. I am interested in it because I am a yam farmer too and I think you might be putting too much resources, time and labor than is necessary if you use another method therefore, I wonder what your profit margin would be at the end.
Isn't the bag method to yield more per land amount? Like if land is limited, using bags will allow more plants? The cost of each could still show which is better for desired outcomes.
@@amusatolaitan2972 Didn't know that... Great Information! You saved me on a new plant start... it was moldy... I remember you saying go through and remove diseased yams pieces... 🤗 I'll start a new one instead.

You're very correct, that has been effected actually in subsequent projects

I can imagine .
How long is summer?
We don't. We're using the rain for the cultivation
Wow nice ideal
Thank you for the video, pls how often do we water the plants especially when it's not raining.
Maybe once every week, maybe twice or thrice.
Its dependent on the soil.
You have to always check the soil randomly to ensure it is moist and not dry.
@@ChidavAgriculturalHub Thanks, remain lifted.
Boss how do you deal with the pollution left by litters of the plastic bags
We don't use plastic bags. The sacks are biodegradable.
@ChidavAgriculturalHub the bags are not biodegradable. They'll break down, but that's nano plastic fiber that stays on the earth for decades.
When is the ideat time to plant our yam mini set and when exactly can we harvest our mini set?

What month is best to start yam farming

Get any brand of fungicide and insecticide
Must one use breathable sacks or can use laminated ones?
Use breakable ones. They are environmentally friendly. You dont want to use a material which would pollute your land after harvest.
Thank you
You're welcome
Hello my question is after fertilzing Most you water it or Not?thank you
You should water
How do you prevent thieves from coming to take free yams ?
By having security personnels at your farm location
