Fantastic footage!! I have been in the English Channel in steady 40 knots gusting 55 knots in a 51 foot sail boat.... about 15 miles SW of the Needles off the Isle of White. We had wind against tide and the seas were 4+ metres possibly as big as 5 and so incredibly close together I could not believe it. We were sailing to St Malo in France but decided to abandon that passage and we sailed for Bournemouth instead! Much better than being smashed to pieces all night!!

Sail boat against 5 m waves.... looks really crazy! During stormy weather I sometimes imagine myself on a sailing boat. Horrible feeling:) Its much more comfortable to be on the big tanker;)

Excellent footage, takes me back to the mid 60s, we were in a typhoon near Taiwan in a WW2 LST (Landing Ship, Tank), the seas were olive green and visibility was about a quarter mile, we would ride up a wave, teeter, crash down and slid down into the trough only to be hurled up again to the next crest. Our main deck suffered many cracks amidships and we had fish swimming in a ballast tank when we got to Japan, but the sides held up. I was still a teen and knew "no fear" as I would have, if I had experienced that later in life...

I guess to get in a typhoon on such ships like LSTis really scary. Big tankers are much safer:)

The stress on that hull and on that bow must be enormous. Always wonder how ships can withstand those forces year in year out.

      Double hull is strong enough👍😉

Nice footage of pretty bad conditions, but I came here after watching the video called "Tanker in big storm" (LwKXfc_a4Ag) of a very similar ship (180+m long tanker) - I'm willing to bet it's the most insane bad weather/waves on UA-cam. Have a look.... :p

O,yes! I saw that video few years ago and reviewed it from time to time, really impressed. You right, there is no more scariest storm footage on UA-cam. I was a few times under the similar stormy conditions, but on a bigger ship - one time approaching to Drake strait and also few occasions in the winter North Atlantic. However didn't have the mobile phone or videorecorder then:) Thank you for comment and good luck!
