Honestly even if you consider Lego DC super villains canon (which I do even if I admit you do have to fill in a few blanks for it to work) his character profile actually can work with this backstory.
His profile brings up how he lost his family and was caught in an explosion before he became the Red Hood. However at no point does it actually reference him dying. It doesn’t even bring up the Joker blowing him up, so the explosion could’ve been self-inflicted for all we know (similar to this comic).

Ok, I just wanted to point out as a Jason fan, this portrayal of him as a hotheaded and reckless kid has only really become popular in recent years, with comics like Robins, Batman: The Adventures Continue & Batman: Urban Legends effectively retconning him into some brute, who got himself killed because he disobeyed Batman's orders. Though, if you look at the source material, this portrayal couldn't be further from the truth. Jason was a very sweet and caring kid, who always saw the good in people even when Bruce was having second thoughts. Sure, he could jump to conclusions or be impulsive, but what Robin wasn't? And the fact of the matter is, Jason didn't die because he disobeyed orders on the field, but was literally tricked by his biological mother into walking into the Joker's grasps, so that she could use Jason as leverage to escape blackmail that Joker had on her. The last panel we see him alive in, he is trying to untie his mother (who lo and behold, the Joker betrayed with his broken and bruised fingers, so that at least one of them could escape. Now I can see why later adaptations left out the bits about his mom-- its convoluted and way too dark in a story that's already horrifically tragic, plus somehow having a kid die because of his own mistakes is just slightly better than one who died just because the universe was cruel. Still though, it really does pain me to see how many people still believe that Jason's death was a fault of his own recklessness or brutality, when he was literally just a sweet kid whose life was robbed from him because of a madman.

It's worth mentioning that Jason could be pretty aggressive compared to Dick and Tim, but his aggression came from love and compassion. Like the example of the rapist who "fell" off of the balcony. That only happened after Robin realized that he wasn't going to face justice. That's what it comes down to. Jason has an extremely strong sense of justice, and can be driven beyond what some consider reasonable to serve justice. This trend continues into his time as Red Hood, to an extent. Originally he was portrayed as much more sinister, and eventually they just made him completely insane. Thankfully that aspect has been mostly put to bed.

No one you attack explodes into pieces EXCEPT Cedric and they joke that he can be revived using a lego construction manual
Character disassembling = death, rebuilding = resurrection
Really, death eaters apparate away rather than die. This is the one consistent thing lego does.

In the lego DC villain files it states Jason died or went missing in a explosion so it's possible that Jason tried to catch Joker on his own but fell for a trap ment for Batman which resulted in an explosion but seeing how Bruce doesn't have a memorial for him in LB1 it's possible Bruce didn't recover a body.
This could imply one of 2 things happened
1)Jason didn't die but disappeared in the wreckage and was found by someone else to nurse him back to health maybe The L.O.S
2)Ra's al ghul found him and resurrected him.

Even the TT Games cinematic at the start of Lego Batman 1 is itself a reference to BTAS. Two crooks are running on the roof of a building when Batman drops down in front of them, uses a batarang to disarm them and then takes them out with a few punches and finally stands triumphantly at the edge of the building as the cinematic ends. An obvious homage to the intro scene that played at the start of every BTAS episode.

All of his "mistakes" were emotionally driven because of his childhood life as gotham street rat. And all of the "mistakes" he's done were never about himself, it's always about saving/avenging others.

Great video! I always wondered why they skipped over Jason, and I always thought it was because it was too dark for kids to know that Robin the Boy Wonder was beaten to death with a crowbar by Joker. As for the connections to B:TAS, Tim’s costume change also happened in the comics, his first suit was the green pants one and then later on he changed to the red and black costume to honor his best friend superboy, but otherwise, it is eerily similar to the show. Also, this isn’t really related to anything but I never knew Killer Moth was planned to be in B:TAS, and it’s a shame they didn’t add him because I feel like that show could do with some goofy villains for once instead of complex tragic ones like Mr. Freeze and psychopathic murderers like the Joker.

I always saw it as Jason being the Robin in the first game since he acts and looks so different to Tim in the second and third game. And that since he appears in Lego Batman 2 he died between the games. But if you pay attention to the way the characters act the robin the first game seems completely different to the one in the second, the one the first game is reckless and aggressive much like Jason. And this is probably way more than what they were ever thinking when making the games but killer croc decapitates him which could be a reference to the fact that killer croc killed Jason's mother in the comics if I remember correctly, but since nightwings in the first game that means it is after the time of Dick Grayson and since there's a massive shift in character traits between the first and second game it is not stretch to say they're two different characters. Also if you look at Batman's actions, you can see in the first game he's just happier and more chill whereas he's darker in the second game which could allude to the tragedy that took place between games

the DCAU doesn't refuse to mention jason todd, it just predates the red hood reveal. that only happened in 2005, the same year justice league unlimited ended.
as far as lego batman, I honestly don't think it was an intentional omission. like I said jason todd was revealed as red hood in 2005, development of the first lego batman began in 2007, it genuinely might just be that red hood jason todd was too recent at the time of the games development to be included, the development team might not have even been aware of that storyline when they were working on the game. I mean, damien was introduced around the same time and like red hood he also didn't appear until lego batman 2

I’m my opinion, Jason’s canon in arkham is the best and represent the true resentment for batman. because instead of being beaten with a crowbar for 15 minutes and blown up, jason is brutally tortured for months in a wing of arkham. which if rumours hold truth batman WALKS PAST in arkham asylum. being beaten for months and batman not trying to save him really shows how much resentment jason has for him: even if the arkham knight wasn’t the best execution of his revenge.

      @CursedShinobiClown 10 місяців тому +1

Jason shouldn’t hate Batman though, the entire point of under the red hood was that Jason didn’t hate Bruce for not saving him he hated him for not breaking his one rule. Arkham Jason on the other hand is just another tragic villain not even an anti hero

Actually, I'm pretty sure the set with killer croc resembles more the DC super villains game because of the design of croc himself and also captain boomerang. But it still works because I think Jason Todd's canon of that game is perfectly compatible with everything that you mentioned.

The reason that croc appears in that set with not only captian boomerang and kitana is becuase the suicide squad movie was being released at the time. lego never put out offical suicide squad sets but to capitalize on the movie they rolled those characeters into other sets.

"If the game holds the same continuity as dc cannon"
Bro, it does NOT. It is based on Batman TAS. Jason Todd is not in Batman The Animated Series, and thus not in the lego game. And since nightwing is not in the story, only batman and robin, you could even argue that this robin is Dick Grayson (even thought this adds up in regards to clayface being alive and the height difference between Batman and Robin)

This is fun a video but feels less like a theory and leans closer to conspiracy theory. The leaps and bounds to connect btas with the lego games would make stretch Armstrong blush. Obviously when introducing the wider world of hero's the justice league would share a majority of similar members, but even in that GL and the flash are different people from the shows. And the redesign point makes no sense either seeing that the only character that follows this is robin. In on-going series' like games character redesign is done to keep some semblance of something being new and fresh like in the arkham games. I think the solution is much simpler than it's made out to be:
1989 Keaton batman is separate from everything
BTAS is influenced by but untimely separate from the films. Since it's a children's show they have limits on what can and cannot be shown, therefore skipping over Jason's story who at this point has yet to become red hood in any media. Electing to go with at the time what was the current robin and avoiding the connection to Jason possibly being murdered later on.
And finally the lego games taking inspiration from both the 89 film series and BTAS, but still apart from both. At the time of of the first game red hood was still a pretty recent character and not really suited for lego batman 1.
It's not uncommon for materials with a younger audience in mind to skip over Jason in favor of drake, as least until the series matures more.
That's just my take. By no mean was it a bad video, just a little too far reaching.
