Batman Under the Red Hood is one of the few cases where the actual animated adaptation is better than the comic that it's based on and it's even written by Judd Winick who also wrote the comic.
Hot take: also Batman vs Robin as an adaptation of The Court of Owls and The City of Owls!
@@GummiSosa nah, Batman V Robin was NOT better then the original Court Of Owls. It's not bad though
I wouldn't say it's better i would say it's as good as the comic book for me I read the comic book I didn't even know the twist cause the incidents were in separate books so it was one of the greatest twists for me so That Batman Comic Book would always remain special for me!
I love how this is just above a comment that says that the Comic is better, to me atleast appears that way
Id argue a lot of that is it’s not bogged down by being part of an ongoing comic. Under the hood had lot connections to recent batman stories as well as infinite crisis. Those references to those recent events whilst cool when you’re reading through Batman’s major stories, ultimately hurt the story as a standalone. There’s a lot of things they talk about that are confusing if you’re not familiar with the then recent batman stories of the era.
The animated movie on the other hand cuts all that out resulting in a bunch more concise, tight story.
Ah I will never get tired of Jensen Ackles'voice acting for Jason Todd
The crazy thing is, Jensen later went on to play Bats in The Long Halloween.
@@mc_zittrer8793 agreed, I totally wouldn't mind him reprising the role for future projects
Love to see an adaptation of dark knight returns: the last crusade or Batman cult with him as Robin
Always chokes me up. He gets so much emotion into his lined.
Because it's literally just Dean venting to his dad why being a Hunter was more important than being his father
The fact that Red hood didn’t fail Batman but the otherway around is the biggest failure in the canon for the character of Batman. And that’s such good story telling.
The only failure of Batman's was taking the brat in. Should have let him die on the streets.
they both failed each other, that's the point
Not really they both failed each other

@@slkjvlkfsvnlsdfhgdght5447 Jason was a f#%king kid! He shouldn't be held responsible when Bruce was literally his guardian, someone who was well aware of the dangerous people surrounding them, and who did not immediately pursue Jason when he learned that the boy had left for Ethiopia in search of his mother. This was right after an argument where Bruce told him that he's not Jason's dad, and that he doesn't need to put up with his 'teenage rebellion' (
In my personal opinion, Jason's death made batman only go HARDER on crime because I think, as a person, batman doesn't know how to handle death and trauma so the only thing he knows is his mission.
I agree. Distracting yourself with work makes grief easier to deal with
That's actually what happened in the comics, Bruce got colder and more brutal. Slowly escalating to the point where if he keeps going he might actually kill some poor kid who stole a guys wallet just so he can feed himself. Tim Drake saw this and went out of his way to force Bruce to accept another robin in order to stop that from happening
I never picked up on the running theme of Batman regretting both taking him in and failing to save him when I first watched this oddly enough.
It makes it sound like Bats didnt care Jason lived or died he just saw jason as a failure and refused to sacrifice his code for his fallen son.
But I agree Bruce is likely feeling more than what he said and cares more about what is happening, the fact at least in this movie Batman was fighting alone feels like after Jason he decided to never again have a robin and as you say he might have grown bitter and fought harder.
But it is logical that the incident changed nothing about his failures with Jason, and he also does not blame him for being angry and acting out.
@@Smashboi76 Oof that bad... I see.
@@kennethsatria6607 yep, all because he lost his son
In the comic, Bruce doesn't maintain eye contact. He shifts responsibility to his ideology and almost seems like admitting Jason is right, is getting rid of his parents mindset.
In the movie, Bruce takes responsibility and explains why he won't. He levels with Jason and TRULY apologizes. He's not a crazy man who doesn't truly know right from wrong... it's a flawed parent, looking the child they failed in the eyes and apologizing.
Fun fact: in batman: Noel, Bruce admits that in the grand scheme of things, Jason's death is what made being Batman a burden to Bruce, and not the fulfilling heroic act it used to be.
One thing you'll observe is that Bruce assumed Jason would just be like Dick, become Robin and be a shining hero but because for all tense and purposes Bruce and Dick are privileged. Dick grew up with traveling acrobats who loved him and nurtured him, Bruce had loving parents and was a billionaire, Jason was a starving kid on the streets, Dick and Bruce live in a world of black and white, good and evil, Jason lives in a world of gray, he doesn't see his actions as bad because he thought it was necessary. And many times in comics, the writers make Jason Todd grow into a loving big brother sort, that personality some what become like Bruce but with much more emotional intelligence. Jason Todd is very much like year one Batman, filled with anger and vengeance but no principles to hold him back.
Bruce didn’t assume that Jason would be just like Dick. He was quite aware of what he was getting into and was quite understanding of Jason’s personal issues, even if he didn’t always agree with him.
Also Year One Batman isn’t really any more angry or vengeful than present day versions.

7:50 This. This is everything to this story. Jason wanted to love Bruce as a father and for him to love him as a son. So he chose to blame Bruce's crusade, without blaming Bruce himself.
No matter how hard you are... If I was batman in that moment, and understood how hard my son was trying to love me despite myself... I'd have to shoot the Joker and admit that at the very least, my family comes before the mission.
Gotta remember that in Batman's mind His mission saves other families even if it cost him his own. That will never change for him
@@aerostrafe1075 Yes, but that logic is inconsistent with how the criminals that he lets get away time and time again only cause more murders and deaths of other families in the wake of Batman's philosophy. Criminals take advantage of his philosophy and use it to destroy more families. Batman lets criminals kill other families because he can't bring himself to stoop to their level. However, what I've seen as a big misconception is is that he trusts law enforcement to do there jobs. Batman himself has actively deterred the Gotham Police Department from using lethal force on serial killers such as the Joker.

If we ever get a season 5 of Young Justice, I would love to see an Under The Red Hood adaptation through the perspective of Nightwing and Tim Drakes Robin. Batman’s VA is already the same from the Red Hood movie. With the S4 cliffhanger, it seems like they are going with a theme of turned heroes.

Bruh what?
Superman was already the most popular super hero character before Death of Superman
@@Indigo_1001 that's why they killed him and made him blue and electric.
I don't think I agree with the conclusion that Bruce regrets ever taking Jason in. I think it's more that his regret lies along the lines of not doing more to save Jason from his growing anger, of not being able to give him the kind of stability he needed to avoid ending up where he is now. I think that's the reason the movie ended with Jason's first day as Robin, and saying that this is the best day of his life. His time as Robin *wasn't* going to stay the best day of his life, we know where he ends up, and Bruce regrets not being able to steer him away from what he becomes because he was in a better position than anyone to affect Jason. At the time Bruce falsely thought that he'd already done what he had to in order to save Jason, because it worked for Dick. But Jason isn't Dick, and he was carrying more anger than Dick did. Maybe he could have done more to save Jason if he didn't become Robin, but Jason wasn't gonna be saved if Bruce never took him in. Bruce was his only chance of escaping this fate, and Bruce failed him.
Jason Todd’s story is so underrated, who he was before on the comics and where he has come as a result is an amazing accident
He’s not underrated, everyone loves him.
@@bibbyboxx2219 underused would be the right word I think

@@Artryom bro what no average person is becoming nightwing or even Red Robin the only way a life like that will turn out is u in a grave or traumatized for the rest of ur life and Jason is both.
@@gigan7169 "Average person" is where you look ridiculous, idk if you've noticed or not but Grayson was a genius and listened to Batman which helped, Jason was disobedient, brash, hot headed and got too passionate... He didn't think things through, He's exactly everything an apprentice shouldn't be... He got himself killed but had he listened to Batman and been more patient, he could've came out like Nightwing, but he's a killer... A killer who projects his murderous tendencies onto criminals. As Batman even said, he'd have ended up committing some atrocities had he not adopted him.
He was so different from Grayson, and average person would likely end up dead eventually but even Batman had times where he almost ended up dead that's part of being a vigilante, but not everyone would be... The smart and lucky ones could be successful at it like Batman.
@@Artryom If we are talking about the comics i have to disagree, in Jason's original robin days he wasn't brash or hot-headed and his real disobedient behaviour only really came in when women were being harmed (e.g i believe, the diplomats son). Something that batman isn't innocent off either. Alot of the "he was always a criminal" and violent aspects came after his death and was mostly adults blaming a kid for his own murder. A death that was arguably not his fault as his birth mother lied to him, told him that the joker was gone then handed him over to the joker with a gun pointed at his head after he tried to help her. Even before Robin, he risked his life to save batman's life and only stole bat's tyres to survive as his dad had died in prison and his adopted mum had due to a disease. Plus in one-shots exploring if the robins weren't robin in the first place jason was a priest and even an f1 driver.
@@randomhumanbeing301 Ye, I know, we're talking about his UTRH movie like the video essay, which makes his Robin days play out differently. Idk how that wasn't obvious...
At least I'm talking about the movie. The movie and comics have two different continuities.
I don't mind the fallen apprentice character. But there was a time in the comics where Jason was robin, commited like the others. He came from nothing: Poverty, homelessness and orphaned. Then Bruce Wayne gave him a paradise.
Jason could've ignored the suffering of those less fortune. But instead he choose to risk everything he held so dear to save rich and poor alike from villiany and madness. Ultimately putting his life on the line to save a criminal relative who had only brought him pain.
Damien Wayne may have Bruce's blood like Tim Drake had Bruce's mind. But Jason's had his heart. He was passionate.
Both for justice and for his studies. You see he did not want to lose his second chance at a good life.
But Jason also reflected Bruce in his temperament. When someone hurt a woman Jason would react in much the same way as Bruce with Joe Chill.
I want to see more of this era of Jason the Second Robin.
Scam detected. Request denied.
Literally one of my most favorite movies of all time. It shows Jason's character off so much. He doesn't blame Bruce for letting him die, he blames Bruce for not avenging him. He loves Bruce, he doesn't hate him.
I think the choice was still made, but just not on Jason’s terms. Remember how after Batman finally defeated him to then realize there was bomb about to go off, he had two choices right then and there. Either save Joker, who had no ability to escape of his own accord, or Jason, who can leave despite the fatigue and injuries.
He chose Jason in that moment, and while he is missing and Joker somehow survived it does show that despite the “mistake” that he, Joker, and Ghul made he was willing to pick him in the end. Whether Jason will recognize it or not I can’t be certain but Batman didn’t lose, nor did Jason.
Joker really should've died
Such an underrated comment. You described my thoughts exactly.
Joker also chose another embrace of death when he stopped Batman from defusing the bomb, and Jason was critically wounded.
8:06 "And then Jason's bomb goes off, which should've totally killed the joker but it didn't"
It's called plot armor.
Feeling like a lot misunderstand Jason. He's an example of the middle child who's realized his parent's ways aren't the best. Bats is a real control freak and Jason is one who's actually willing to do what needs to be done to those that deserve it.
I think his real failing is that he just can't understand why Batman can't.
@@3Rayfire A traumatised, control freak that isn't above adopting traumatised orphans to turn them into living weapons for his "mission" that is ultimately pointless, because of how it simply continues the cycle of violence, not changing it
Batman IS dangerous, once he drops this whole mission, there is no denying that. All that edgy shiet with Batman who Laughs and contingency plans have been explored many times.
But honestly, Batman really needs to change his ways or hang up his bat cape sooner rather than later, because this whole thing doesn't yield ANY results. Plus Bruce Wayne could do a much better job fixing the city, than as a bat onesie wearing lunatic
@@kubelek37 That's not true, Batman crushed the mob completely, that unfortunately is part of the reason the "freaks" came into power. In the other hand without him Jim Gordon never would have been able to clean up the Ultra corrupt GCPD.
The problem isn't Batman but the fact that the authorities can't find it in themselves to just execute the Joker or imprison him on an asteroid. Batman shouldn't have to be the one to kill the pasty face bastard who can't be rehabilitated.
And Batman has recognized numerous times that using Bruce Wayne's resources are necessary to winning his war, that was the point of Batman Inc. Gotham practically runs off of Wayne Corporation jobs and Wayne Foundation charity.
@@kubelek37 most based comment about batman ive ever read.
@@kubelek37The murder rate in Gotham has gone down significantly since Bruce became Batman. But keep talking about how ineffectual he is.
One of the great joys of this film is the battle between Red Hood and Black Mask. Black Mask is presented as a psychopath with a hair-trigger temper, prone to impulsive bursts of rage. And that’s how he likes it, making sure that the “new guy” is instantly intimidated by him. What makes the contest great is that while Batman takes on criminals mostly through surveillance, investigation and, where necessary, interrogation, Red Hood confronts by deliberately challenging the boss. He is actively working to antagonise a villain whose whole schtick is is bad temper. And his “poke the bear” approach is delightfully vicarious for the audience. We would never dare to get on the bad side of a man like Black Mask, but Red Hood willingly courts his fury. This produces two good moments: the first when Black Mask tries to set a trap and says,”when I say a party, I mean a whole mess of people ready to kill him.”, the other when he’s in his office and suddenly realises there’s a red dot on his forehead, then runs from the room. It’s all fun to watch as he is driven absolutely nuts by the whole experience.
Jason's speech at the end of this movie is 1. Beautifully delivered by Jensen and 2. Is the argument I cite every time I'm in an argument about Batman's no-kill rule. Some criminals are beyond rehabilitation. Batman is an active contributor to the cyle of death.
But if he kills he becomes a part of that same cycle of death. It's not up to Batman to decide who lives and who dies
At the same token what's going to stop jason when he has no more big fish to kill? He is gonna kill jaywalkers? The homeless? Hell the injustice universe shows what Jason's mentality leads to where criminals who don't deserve death are killed anyway because some vigilante thinks it's okay to shoot every criminal they see regardless of the actual crime or if they actually harmed someone or not. Guys like jason more often then not just kill someone because they got a hunch and not solid proof
@@Juancisco I still don’t know how criminals like the Joker haven’t been given the death sentence - how

@@bet0v966 idk how someone hasn't arranged for an 'accident' to happen with the Joker to take him off the census while in custody. There's got to be enough cops angry enough to outright murder him.
Jason is by far my favorite character. So much suffering this boy has been through and all he really wanted was the reassurance that his father cared and loved him enough to put an end to his killer.
Because let's be honest, if the asylum really did its job and the damn clown didn't manage to escape every month, Jason wouldn't be so insistent on the bastard's death, because a real life sentence with no chance of escape would serve as revenge.
i loved this essay- i don’t see people dissecting their relationship like this (outside of tumblr) often, thanks you for making this.
i think a big part of their problems is that while they love and miss each other so much as father and son, they don’t- and almost actively refuse to- understand each other's ways of showing that love and that’s supported by, as you said, their unwillingness to compromise and step into each other’s shoes. in fact, their separate ways of showing love are so opposite, that they're read as acts of violence by the other.
i wrote a meta on tumblr about this a couple months ago but this video essay has really inspired me to maybe flesh that out and make a video essay too.

I got to disagree. The failure wasn't that he let Jason in. It was that he couldn't save him. Not his life but his soul. In the comics after Jason dies batman does change. He becomes more violent. Crossing more and more likes until Tim Drake shows up. If not for Tim he would have soon become a killer
Yeah yeah. He loved Jason a lot. He didn’t regret letting Jason be Robin at all, just that he couldn’t save him. Twice

@@riotkitty I don't think those sentiments are mutually exclusive.
God I love Red Hood.
Also fun fact: in some comics, it was Nightwing who beat Joker to a bloody pulp for everything that happened(Jason, Barbra, even Tim) Batman had to pull him off and Joker had to be in the whole hospital for weeks.
Fortuitous timing. I showed my younger cousin under the red Hood earlier today, and she cried. Weirdly, I feel like a good older cousin for giving her that experience.
I would love to see a red hood vs rumor film. Jason has shown that he won't kill every super villian unless it's a villian as bad as the joker (which most Batman villains aren't as a lot of them are redeemable, some of them very easily so if Arkham had better therapists and was better in general) or there is a hostage (as he would rather not risk it). Where as Mario (the dude seriously needs a last name) has shown to want to kill every super villian in Gotham because of the joker even those that have been redeemed before (something I'm surprised Batman didn't point out but oh well.), I could see rumor being the line that red hood won't cross similar to how the red hood is the line Batman won't cross. (Maybe Jason could call Mario out on well a lot of things like stealing from his boss just to get on his nerves.).
It's still crazy how the fate of Jason Todd as Robin boiled down to votes cast by the readers of the comic at the time
Edit: also as much as I love the Under The Red Hood movie (Jensen absolutely kills it) the comic is even better
It’s really not the comic is rather bloated with scenes and characters that simply did not need to appear. Like Deathstroke,Mr freeze, and captain nazi. The tie into infinite crisis and Todd’s statement about losing one son is also unnecessary and takes away from the final fight. As it makes Todd more vindictive and cruel than he actually was meant to be
I think they're about equal. The one thing I really like more about the comic is that Black Mask has more of a downward spiral into madness. In the movie his first scene is him screaming and punching his henchmen. It works for the movie I just prefer the arc he has in the comic.
@@calebmurphy9406
I never got that downward spiral vibe at all. He acts just as deranged in the war games story that directly preceded under the hood.
@@jagtech490
Imo
The Freeze scene was to give Jason the "lay of the land". Essentially give Jason an idea of what type of person Mask the current kingpin of Gotham's entire underground is. By him sending Freeze with fake money dishonoring thier deal to kill him it gives Jason a better understanding of what type of psycho he's dealing with.
And it gives Jason the opportunity to give the stolen Kryptonite to Batman and Nightwing furthering the point of the "don't sell to kids scene" showing that while Jason is an antagonist he clearly not evil and does the right thing (in his own twisted way)
The Deathstroke scene was to explain how Black Mask got in contact with high end assassins to send after Hood dealt with Freeze and his hit men he initially sent out.
The Jason vs Captain Nazi, Hyena, and Vertigo scene were a follow-up to prior events and pretty just the fearsome hand of four fight from the movie. Do you think the fearsome hand of four fight was unnecessary in the movie????
I'm biased since I'm a weirdo who prefers the comic but there aren't many scenes I'd cut from it barring the batarang to the neck scene and the Chemo and Bludhaven scene.
@bruhmanofyear2 it's an opinion but ok
Jason Todd’s story is so sad. Really hits me hard with Batman and DC’s general never kill rule.
I loved this movie so much, I just kept rewatching it over and over.
My favorite versions of Jason and Black Mask.
Black Mask is so good in this version. He is so fun on screen but also crazy. I feel like he embodies the traditional version of the joker in this film. The version that is just crazy and a joy to watch work and not the version here, that kills Jason.
Yes just yes.
God, this movie is so good. I watched it yesterday. I'm not even that into DC, but Jason alone makes me want to get into it.
Where did you watch it?
Jason Todd is my comfort character for when i want to read Whump and Hurt/comfort lol
also Fanfics portray his relationship with the batfamily better than 90% of all canon comic books out there
It's a shame that we didn't get the chance to have a live action Red Hood with Jensen Ackles. He would have been awesome. WB dropped the ball like they always do.
Sadly him being older means it probably won't happen.
And he never even got to meet our Batman Kevin Conroy. Just imagine the possibilities there. Our favorite Red Hood meets THE Batman himself! Shame it will never happen..
In Jason's defense: if I was a Gotham resident and I knew Batman and the police kept letting the Joker live, after he killed my loved one and thousands of other people's loved ones, I would become a supervillain. Or at least start a political movement to pressure the governor to post a "Shoot On Site" order for the Joker. Is such an order constitutional? I would let the Supreme Court determine that AFTER the Joker has been shot, multiple times, with a couple straight to the head.
With all the cops the Rogues have killed, how they get taken in alive is an absolute miracle, in the real world. I grew up in LA, and most times, cop killers are not taken in alive or at least not without extra holes in them. Guy in a purple suit and white makeup seems like an easy enough target.
*daredevil dog*
The political movement seems more appealing, and it's probably the best move for a random civilian. Batman can argue with a supervillain or a henchman, but a straight-up random civilian who is actually good, actually honest, and really trying their best to change Gotham? Hell nah, he has to deal with it, since attacking a civilian will not end well for him. We all know that..

A grayson video would be legendary since he is one of the most important characters in DC and just as interesting as Jason todd
"because he took me away from you" that line always breaks me man, Jason's just a kid here, begging his father to show him that he's more than a soldier, that he loved him enough to priotirize his love for him over his own values or the mission, he just wanted to feel loved and important man.
As someone that's becoming a psychologist I love these vids so much.
there was something so special about Jason Todd that i gravitated to in my late teens, a time where it was just.. not a good time. but the first minute of the video hit so fucking differently now as an adult.
starting 2023, i'm just starting to experience the PTSD from being raised in a cult, even though i've been free for 5 years. i never realized how and why my basic human rights were never taught to me, how my belief system and my identity was conflicting, and how much abuse i went through directly by people who said they loved me too.
This has a very strong intro sequence. You bring up some good points, even though they are entirely heartbreaking. It's amazing how a poll ultimately resulted in what, in my opinion, is one of the greatest tragedies DC has written. (This is not acknowledging how most writers drop the ball in terms of characterization, therefore wrecking the pain of tragedy)
If you’d ask me, under the hood is a great plot and Jason Todd makes a fantastic villain in it. However I have never been a fan of his modern incarnation after the story. Jason Todd; red hood was one of Batman’s greatest failures coming back to haunt him. Nowadays he’s just sorta Batman’s shadow the hedgehog with crobar trauma.
Any chance you’ll cover Batman: the Brave and the Bold? I’ve watched through the first two seasons and it’s such an absolute delight.
its so cute
If there's one thing I learned about Batman in Under the Red Hood is that Batman, as a character, lacks self-control. Jason only wants Joker dead; just Joker. He already said it, not Penguin, not Harvey, JUST JOKER.
The fact that killing one irredeemable piece of shit is Batman's tiping point into losing his no killing rule just says that he isn't really in control of himself and his emotions.
Fun fact: The voice of Phineas from Phineas and Ferb voiced young Jason! Vincent Martella is a gem :)
I’m so glad you are covering this red hood is my favorite DC character ever written
The problem is that Jason and Batman are both wrong and both right. Joker needs to die, but neither Batman nor Red Hood should be the ones to carry out that sentence.
Batman (and Bruce) should allow the justice system to execute Joker, for the sake of the safety of every halfway decent man, woman, and child. (In some continuities, I believe he is actively intervening in the legal system to ensure his criminals are found insane and sent to Arkham rather than executed.) Batman needs to let go of his obsession with saving everyone and allow the society around him to find a solution that ends the killing.
At the same time, Jason needs to stop trying to make everything about himself. Batman's code against killing is not a reflection of his love or lack thereof of Jason. It is a moral system that he adopts to prevent himself from becoming an evil person. It's flawed, but those flaws don't prevent Bruce from caring for Jason. The proof of his love for Jason is the fact he took him in at all and tried to personally help him find a path toward goodness. Jason needs to recognize that and stop trying to define their relationship in terms of killing Joker or not. Whether Joker lives or dies has _nothing_ to do with their relationship; their relationship stands on falls on the merits of the interactions _they_ have, not some third party or Bruce's moral worldview, no matter how flawed it is. Throughout this entire story, he is not trying to improve on Batman's mistakes; he's just trying to get personal vengeance, rather than justice, whether it comes from himself or from Batman. He'd _rather_ it come from Batman because that would validate his hatred and (in his mind) restore their relationship, but the reality is that would do neither.
Given all this, I think Batman is _closer_ to the moral high ground in the conflict, and we see clearly where Jason's path leads: more violence, more death, more chaos, escalating into an all out crime war in the city. No matter how powerful Jason is, there will always be someone willing to compete with him. He won't make things better, and unlike Batman who is at least breeding a new generation of heroes and honest citizens, he will only breed sociopaths willing to kill to get what they want.
Perfectly, perfectly well stated and true!
Bruce wakes up on a beach with Jason Todd choking him and Jason gives up and just starts sobbing and Bruce just calls him a coward
I found this channel after watching the boys recently and watched ur video essay. I’m going to binge ur channel to help get out of my schlump. Appreciate the video!! Jason is my fav character 🎉

ur literally my favorite channel and ur talking about my favorite dc character i’m so excited to watch this omg omg
🦇That ending though was crushing. Seeing all the hope and excitement to be Batmans partner. All that positive energy while wearing that og Robin outfit🦇
Red Hood is my favorite comic book character so this video is one I have been waiting for.
So glad someone like you made a video about this tragic and beautiful story.
*Hands down I firmly believe that Commissioner Gordon is the perfect antidote to the problems from Batman’s “No Kill” Rule and Todd’s edgy views*
Still hear Jensen Ackles’ voice in my head whenever I read Jason’s comic dialogue.
Took me years to realize Jason is played by the Supernatural guy
Bro I love your videos they make
me happy please keep posting
always love your intro edits
Great analysis as usual. The way you write your videos and use music to portray certain parts really gives off a 'professional documentary feel', which is rare on youtube. Just wanted to say that you make real quality content man. Thanks for yet another great upload!
You are soo good at telling stories!
This made me cry ❤
I love Jason Todd so much. He is easily my favorite Robin.
Bro this shit was beautiful Dawg, really has shined a new light on both of the characters for me. I had watched this years ago when I viewed my life through a different lense, interesting how that works ain't it.
The biggest takeaway I get from the story is that they're both wrong because they're both right. The morality of reality is rarely if ever black and white, it always seems to be disturbingly grey. It's very easy to convince ourselves that we know better than others, that what we believe is right and what is wrong is fact. Inevitably though, no matter what we do, it always ends up backfiring somehow. Nobody is perfect. Nobody. Our perspectives on right and wrong can't be perfect either. If it could, we as the civilization of mankind would have had things all figured out without controversy a long time ago.
Jason Todd to me is so special because no matter what reboot or series, he is Batman's greatest failure in them all. He's a symbol of Batman's failure as a parent, a mentor, and as a hero.
Your videos are so good man. Thanks for the content. Really enjoyable to watch ☺️
I was hoping you were going to cover the stories of the Family Matters movie/series. I feel those go more in depth of Jason.
The reason I relate to Jason is that I relate to the experience of having your trauma being belittled by you parent figure and even though you tell them how much it hurts they still don't see it
The intro to this video made me grin like an absolute idiot at my computer. Great Work!
Best part of this movie is the recognition of when the line gets cut, small but meaningful
U prolly my favourite UA-camr right now fr keep up the good work bro
bro ur 2023 content has been fuckin peakkkk. ive been putting it off for a while, but i'm finally subscribed. Plus that thumbnail is hilarious.
Videos Like this is why I love your channel ❤️❤️
Saw Jason on the Trauma Channel™️ and had to click
OH MY FUCKING GOD I LITERALLY JUST ASKED YOU FOR THIS!!!!!! was this for me 🥺 if it was thank you so so much, I really needed something that I asked for to come through ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ much love and I will absolutely continue to watch and comment ❤️ thank you
8:01 hits harder when you remember in the comics that Batman’s slit Jason’s throat and proceeded to leave him in the exploding building- while actively choosing to save the joker.
That’s not what happened. Joker caused the building to explode by shooting the explosives. Batman didn’t actively choose to save Joker or leave Jason there.
this video just makes my love for Under the Red Hood even greater
red hood as dean is a fking hilarious caption
Batman always chooses the Joker over his family and friends.
This was beautiful
Thank you. Just, thank you.
Genuinely love this dude (implicitly pretentious to be precise)
THIS IS SO GOOD
I still want a Jason Todd movie or TV series but I want it like the punisher I think that'd be a good template. Also the thing I loved about this movie. Was it gives the real reason why batman doesn't kill. It's not that he can't It's that if he did he knew it whouldent be just one person. Batman admits that if he kills it not going to stop he'll keep going. I thought it was a better reason then murder is wrong because it's Batman acknowledging even he's not above becoming corrupted.
god i love this channel
Love this video!
Bravo! Bravo! Keep up the good work my man!
