  • My British troops attack a ridgeline held by German froces commanded by Buckycatt from the Few Good Men. My first Fortress Italy multiplayer game!
    This is Combat Mission: Fortress Italy, set on the Italian Front from July 1943 to May 1945. Mods-wise I'm running the ubiquitous HQS sound mod, Vin's Geometric icons and Vein's effects.
    Combat Mission is a game developed by Battlefront.com. One of the most realistic tactical simulations ever made, Combat Mission covers a wide variety of military settings, from World War 2 (Normandy, Market Garden, Sicily, Italy and the Eastern Front) to fictional modern conflicts in Syria (Shock Force) and Ukraine (Black Sea). You can find out more about Combat Mission by visiting www.battlefront... and especially the forums.

    Your AAR videos are wonderfully edited - they tell a complete and coherent story. You very effectively and smoothly mix together the micro and macro perspectives to create an entertaining video. These videos must take a ton of work to organize and create. Thank you for all the effort you put into them. Oh, congratulations on a well-executed mission.
    I also like your turn-by-turn videos. The experience is different from the AARs, but both are wonderful.

    excellently executed, textbook, set-piece assault. That said, I'm honestly surprised at how low your casualties were... i'm sure some medals and promotions will surely be sent your commander's way!

      Thank you! Though with it being May 1945 I think the pixeltruppen would rather see the end of the war than medals.

    Very clever use of the flamethrowers. Did Buckycat ever figure out how his troops were dying?

      It was a joke, because this was published in the middle of a game between Hapless and Holoween, and we got to see both perspectives at the same time. Hapless is playing someone different here, thus the joke.

      It certainly is different from following formations, but I'm not sure if I'd call it very importantly different. Still, I wouldn't say no to that, a mid 1943 game is substantially different from a 1944 or 1945 game.

    • @usuallyhapless9481
      @usuallyhapless9481  4 роки тому +3

      IIRC it follows the line of ridge pretty closely, with an extension over onto my side in front of the road junction and the villa (safe from my deployment zone around the corner of the valley). There's not really enough cover or depth to make it worth stacking in force thanks to it being an exposed forward slope. Definitely something to include next time though.

    Thank you for the excellent AAR. I have always had a question about CM simulations, the modeliing does not account for burning houses or structures.

    • @usuallyhapless9481
      @usuallyhapless9481  5 місяців тому

      The current CM engine doesn't simulate fire at all. Little fire graphics can pop up in areas subjected to a lot of small arms fire or flamethrowers, but they're just eye candy.
