This is why i love viewers from this amazing ytuber so much positive energy , so much in fact that this is giving me energy to go forward for this day.
I’d say try this again as a Lithoid Devouring Swarm. More habitability and being able to focus entirely on minerals and energy instead of wasting districts on food would be amazing.
Isn't there a chance you'll die early though if you spawn next to an a aggressive faction? I'm an idiot when it comes to Stellaris, but don't devouring swarms rely on numbers? The slow breeding rate lithoids have would be really painful.
OvenCake Yes but hive minds get bonuses to their population growth. The lithoid breeding will definitely hurt ALOT you’re right about that, but it’ll be balanced out by being able to grow more pops at once due to being able to settle more worlds at once from their higher habitability. Basically the strategy with hive mind lithoids is just spam colonize to keep up with the negative to growth rates, and plus I believe devouring swarm lithoids get MASSIVE growth rate bonuses when they devour a planet (something only lithoid devouring swarms can do).
My opinion... Maybe go Lithoid / Fanatic Xenophile + Spiritualists and go Psy route, or + Materialist and go synth?? Perhaps, go heavy into allies and diplomacy but rush alloys, and research better tech, first perk as technological ascendency. Just a suggestion.. This was cool, Ive been waiting for something like this. Devouring swarm is rough to be sure and youre already at a huge disadvantage to start with. i think maybe a machine empire would work better. fewer resources to balance, immortal leaders. just because the game settings have to be max doesnt mean you cant make a strong empire.
If someone can pull this madness with a horde, it's you! If it is really impossible this way though bribe them all as not a horde! I will watch any version gladly.
Random fact. I had never a game where I didn't have fanatic purifiers with an advanced start as neighbours even when I removed the option. Welcome to my world. xD
Needed to also start with a random empire for the complete challenge. But, looking forward to the run anyway ;d. Also tfw your empire is actually Triple H.
These runs are all i do and i recommend saving 20+ a month till you finish the supremacy tree for the no retreat option. When you get around 2.5k alloys is when you wanna suddenly build a fleet to avoid wasting it on upkeep through the years. Also build a unity building to get supremacy finished within 15 years. With the no retreat option youll be way bigger then the ais. You do want at least one or two systems for some anchorages but otherwise stick to let the ai expand for you at the start to avoid wasting alloys and minerals. After one or 2 ais gone youll have a big empire and income to easily keep up with ais unless multiple war you at once. This is how i play which ive perfected over who knows how many games.
Maybe a fanatic xenophile, machinist or a technocracy. When you leave the max difficulty mode, you could try a diplomatic Hive Mind, which would be interesting.
What I'd do: Go Lithoids, Xenophile, Fanatic Materialist, go for the lithoid secondary species and get one of the rare resource traits (Prioritize gases), get intelligent and/or another rare resource trait for primary species. Bio-reactors might come in handy, and let you get use out of agri districts and early servile restrictions(Since it's energy it could give you that early boost to the economy, and replace when needed later in the game). Rush a second alloy factory on homeworld to supply for ships, then go full research on homeworld. Definitely plan to build tall.
bioreactors are only a thing for machine empires. He needs to expand as much as he can so he can get as many planets. He could go on a Gaia world if he wants to play tall. This could work, but the issue is growth speed. the -25% growth speed will hurt lathrix too much to have lithoids as the main species.
So while at war with an existential threat, you tried to continue expanding your empire instead of poring ALL of your resources into defense. You were not continuously building ships and after maxing out the rate at which you build ships you could have built a second shipyard or you could have also tried to spend your excess on defense platforms at your choke point.
I play a lot as devouring swarm, and it is only playable at 2 difficulties down from max. You can even develop stronger and take out first 1-2 empires who attack you at max difficulty, but the problem is the more territory you have, the more bordering empires, and they all will attack you, so you end up with like 4 different wars at once, and you may be stronger than each individually, but you cannot be everywhere at once, so always lose in the end. The only chance is to be locked in by fallen empires and have no or just 1 choke point. Even then other empires will kill you like 100 years into the game. Note: I also play 5x points per research, so maybe a bit different play to what you get with default 1x.
I´d recommend fanatic Xenophile and materialist and boxing yourself in, rushing down the techs, and regarding habitability you could make use of the lithoids
tech/tradition cost should be maximum for max difficulty because then you will have a bigger trouble catching up to fallen empires and the crisis, although then it might become literally impossible without becoming friends with everyone and banding together against the crisis
Hey man, if you want an even harder challenge, I recommend of course using Starnet AI mod AND a mod called Hemothep's Dynamic Difficulty Should be a true challenge.
Lathrix you should be a rogue servitor with lithoids! It is very powerful because you can get unity and gases from them. It allows you to get traditions extremely quickly. For your second civic pick either rapid replicators, rockbreakers, unitary cohesion, or introspective. (i would reccomend rapid replicators, or introspective) I play this empire in multiplayer games and do very well. You could pick rockbreakers so that lithoids do not limit your mineral income though, or unitary cohesion to go full on unity. Your robots should have mass produced, the one that gives +5% resources, and luxiourius. you can edit what i have told you f you want and anything i have not said is your choice. Please like so lathrix can see this
In my opinion, the best approach ( or best empire ) is fanatic xenophobe ( get the growth bonus + cheaper expansion without the huge -1000 opinion ) and a normal pacifist, go with inward perfection ( more growth ) and the second trait is go syncretic evolution and go with lithoid as a secondary species.
if he wanted more growth he could go mechanist for robot production, and if he wanted more influence go authoritarian or egalitarian. Also inwards perfection will not help because he needs friends.
This is actually how I play normally. I had no idea this is considered impossible. I win 1 game in 20 normally but I just feel like this is the way the game was meant to be played.
If you want to do the non-friendly run you try the Determined Exterminator's, or Fanatic Purifiers with Post-Apocalyptic. To be able to use any world you find right away.
I'm no expert, but the best secondary ethic to FXenopile might be militarist. From my memory (might be wrong) Pacifists don't directly dislike Militarists, just Indescriminate bombardment. Also, regular militarists have access to every war philosophy, so they can change it to get rid of "differing philosophy" when creating a federation with pacifists.
I think it might have possibly worked if you'd have another planet and had a little more time to build up to force limit to fully utilize the fire rate. Supremacy certainly was the right choice though. In general, an empire that can prevent getting attacked early on and keep the pops it conquers would still stand a better chance I believe.
Maybe for the next attempt you could try to use a megachurch to befriend and leech off of all these powerful neighbors. That'd be at least funny to watch
Do the more diplomatic way, because you can also see some more instead of dying in the beginning. You have a higher change of surviving, because you can get protection. You can also do an overpowered robot empire. Robots are pretty insane in both the beginning and end-game.
robots falter at end game because at that point organics have caught up to you in terms of growth speed and consumer goods are better for science than minerals Edit: also organics have arcology projects
Haha don't worry, they were already changed to the best weapons and such, If they were as they were when completely stripped of equipment they wouldn't be able to move systems to engage as they did nor even fight at all! They would have 0 listed fleet power.
You could "recreate" Titan A.E. when the Origins came. Start with the voidborne origin. Humans. After Earth Colony. And just try and get to a Titan/Worldbreaker. Second idea. You can "top off" the other empires with 20 xenofobic fanatic militaristic empires. All with the same race and trates. Just "Empire X Section 1" and count up to 20. Let's se if you can make it.
How about going with determined exterminators? You can inhabit every world though the pop growth will not be as good at the beginning. However, you can get up to almost 6 growth per month with the right traits until you are able to research more robot modification points and the research for 10 percent assembly speed. Additionally you can go with a Terravore Lithoid Hive Mind for additional habitability and still have the ability to go for hive worlds, though i think machine worlds are a better type of planet for the respective species.
Perhaps a mega corp would be a good option for these max difficulty runs? You wouldnt want or need to compete for space as much, and instead would want to just build up branch offices everywhere.
This is ineffective because it requires energy, and a lot of influence to make branch offices which may not make enough of a profit to be worth it. The influence is needed for outposts and edicts
@@PaladinElliott The advanced empires that begins next to you means that there is nowhere to expand. And thanks to advanced starts there should be many places that it is good for branch offices.
@@maltek1542 When you look at where lathrix started, if he got on good terms with the empire to his south he could have expanded in every other direction, but not much to the east because of the fanatic pacifistt
Suggestion for Federations in 2020: Do a series based on David Brin's Uplift series. Humanity is a new species in a universe based on species patronage, with elder species in charge of a sort of political pyramid of uplifted species. Despite having recently achieved space travel humanity gets 'elder species rights' because they uplifted dogs and dolphins. Half advanced start species, start with xenophile/materialistic, syncretic species origin. Weld the young races into a federation to survive.
@@CreeperDude-cm1wv with 50% advanced starts, bound to be a few militaristic. Which, to be sure and to fit the universe, probably turn on Aggressive in the start options. With Aggressive on even if they like you militaristic races tend to try to manufacture border friction and set rivalries. I'd probably make it a rule not to defensive pact/federation with any of the advanced starts till year 100 or something, too. Set mid-game to earliest start date, end game maybe a bit early but isn't the point. The series was a mostly hostile/indifferent universe where maintaining independence was a massive win in itself. I'd also call being made a vassal or forced into a hegemony a loss, including the Great Khan and Awakened FE.
May i make a suggestion? Human Hive SPQR Devouring Swarm, Strength of Legions Very Strong, Agrarian/Resilient, (Whatever negatives you desire) I had much fun fighting with +100% extra strength armies or +150% on defense if you choose resilient. Rome will Expand.
You should consider the possibility of surviving as a vassal of another empire in a future playthrough, as actual defensive pacts might be too hard to get.
About the idea with starting on a habitat, the next DLC has Origins wich has start on a habitat and one your homeworld is about to explode flee to the stars.
I think that the tech rush Strat would work as you will need to play tall as the other empires will be trying to take everything from you and they will get extra resources and all that from the difficulty so you need to just turtle and almost act like a fallen empire at least that is what I would do
The only reason the other guy completed his impossible run is because he got a relic that spawned him every 10 years 5k strength fleets(end tier tech) for free.
I think devouring swarm is fair , If you really wanted the most powerful edge you would have gone driven assimilators . Also while you could have gone some kind of Xenophile and formed a giant federation i actually think thats gaming it harder since its fairly easy to do and ensures that unless you start between a couple genocidal empires you basically wont have any threats . So anyhow i think Devouring swarm is fine , though playing as fanatic purifiers yourself would have been interesting also .
I am wondering if you might do some ftd when it releases, it's perfectly fine if you don't since your burnt out. Maybe do a collaboration with borderwise or spud cubs.
I swear it's impossible to do this without diplomatic corps and free haven materialist, xenophile, egalitarian. Everyone loves you wants to protect you, and if you advanced fast enough all the war refugees from neighboring systems come in and exponentially increase technological and economic power.
this is why i never turn advanced neighbors on. Its not adding difficulty, its adding an early potential restart. Its impossible to deal with an advanced empire that wants to beat you into a pulp early game, so its just hoping they at least dont want to kick your teeth in long enough for you to catch up
Starnet A.i is a monster of a mod. when you get 500 fleet the A.I has like 2k. the only way i found to win is to get defense treaty whith another empire in the early and tech rush to BC. if you are going for this chalege i suggest you try that :)
Habitable worlds set to 1x is WAY too many. Even setting it to 0.25x is still too many. There's a mod that makes it even less and it's really worth playing with it on. Makes planets so much more valuable. The mod is !MicroMod - Rare Planets 80%. There is even a 60% version if you think 80% decreases planets too much. Also, planetary diversity is an excellent mod as well.
i managed to survive as fanatic purifier against 3 neighbours passing the war ball (declaring one after another get peace) by spamming torpedoes, you could try the same tbh and by going military first

If you want to do the non-friendly run you try the Determined Exterminator's, or Fanatic Purifiers with Post-Apocalyptic. To be able to use any world you find right away.
Why have I never thought about this
I'm no expert, but the best secondary ethic to FXenopile might be militarist.
This is like playing advanced minesweeper
The worst thing about genocidal is that EVERYONE has a valid cb to annihilate you
Extremely tall xenophile megacorp would be both interesting to watch, and have a decent chance of success.
Robots are pretty insane in both the beginning and end-game.
robots falter at end game because at that point organics have caught up to you in terms of growth speed and consumer goods are better for science than minerals
Edit: also organics have arcology projects
RECKLESS REPRESSIVE ROCKS - Same empire but as Lithoids for expansion purposes.
yo lath...., you were fighting with the scrap corvettes......."this will not turn out like you expect"
I say try again if for no other reason than the name is worth it.
You wouldnt want or need to compete for space as much, and instead would want to just build up branch offices everywhere.
id say go tall af and hope you spawn in a corner and get the ring world as the starter
-Lithoid
-Corporate
Civics
-Free Traders
-Private Prospectors
(Naval Contractors)
This is ineffective because it requires energy, and a lot of influence to make branch offices which may not make enough of a profit to be worth it. The influence is needed for outposts and edicts
@@PaladinElliott The advanced empires that begins next to you means that there is nowhere to expand. And thanks to advanced starts there should be many places that it is good for branch offices.
@@maltek1542 When you look at where lathrix started, if he got on good terms with the empire to his south he could have expanded in every other direction, but not much to the east because of the fanatic pacifistt
@@PaladinElliott I think he got a bigger area than usual thanks to the fallen empires
choosing humans automatically puts you in the middle since thats where Sol is
Suggestion for Federations in 2020: Do a series based on David Brin's Uplift series.
To survive what? The end game?
@@LowbrowDeluxe ah so sticking together in a rather hostile universe.
May i make a suggestion? Human Hive SPQR
Devouring Swarm, Strength of Legions
Very Strong, Agrarian/Resilient, (Whatever negatives you desire)
I had much fun fighting with +100% extra strength armies or +150% on defense if you choose resilient. Rome will Expand.
the snivelets shall rule again
You should consider the possibility of surviving as a vassal of another empire in a future playthrough, as actual defensive pacts might be too hard to get.
About the idea with starting on a habitat, the next DLC has Origins wich has start on a habitat and one your homeworld is about to explode flee to the stars.
I think that the tech rush Strat would work as you will need to play tall as the other empires will be trying to take everything from you and they will get extra resources and all that from the difficulty so you need to just turtle and almost act like a fallen empire at least that is what I would do
btw I do not play the game personally
Might want to go either for lithoid or for machine empires so you can make early use of all the worlds in your systems.
The only reason the other guy completed his impossible run is because he got a relic that spawned him every 10 years 5k strength fleets(end tier tech) for free.
)LOCK CAPS SORRY( HEADZARQUIANSOLDgOOD
BACKWARD IT WHY IDK ALSO
@@personwithaname271 amazing
I think devouring swarm is fair , If you really wanted the most powerful edge you would have gone driven assimilators . Also while you could have gone some kind of Xenophile and formed a giant federation i actually think thats gaming it harder since its fairly easy to do and ensures that unless you start between a couple genocidal empires you basically wont have any threats . So anyhow i think Devouring swarm is fine , though playing as fanatic purifiers yourself would have been interesting also .
Good luck Lath...
Its impossible to deal with an advanced empire that wants to beat you into a pulp early game, so its just hoping they at least dont want to kick your teeth in long enough for you to catch up
GO GO GO HUNGRY HUNGRY HUMANS
Were you fighting with the "scrap" type corvettes?
I updated them, If they were as they were when I first made them they wouldn't even have weapons nor be able to move to new systems! :P
Also, planetary diversity is an excellent mod as well.
i managed to survive as fanatic purifier against 3 neighbours passing the war ball (declaring one after another get peace) by spamming torpedoes, you could try the same tbh and by going military first
Ay we did it. Gl my friend.
Hell yeah it's here!
I'd really like to see a retake on this challenge with the newer patches.
Just leaving a comment for an awesome video.
Smart naming both DE & DS after yourself that way even if they win you do by technicality.
I want you to keep with the hungry Bois (but if you do do another empire avoid xenophile military or megacorp. That was MATN run)
Friendly Lithoid : The Rest in Peace Marbles !
I think a rather tall playstyle suits this kind of challenge way better.
it does not because you have no way of knowing if you are going to have habitable worlds nearby
I should have guessed the outcome of this attempt by the video length...
If I was going to try this run, I might try Lithoid Very Strong/Resilient, rush planets and try to fortress world. Rename homeworld Cadia.
Lithoid Devouring Swarm
*The planet will break before the guard does*
I think try a different approach, looking forward to it!
its flipping time gents
I have a feeling this isn't going to end well.
Choppytehbear1337 no shit sherlock
U Master fuck you Watson
Had sub titles still on and at the beginning it says sir ants rats lol😆
