Do you have PMDD and have you been tested for the MTHFR gene? What did you find out?

I'm pretty sure I have this! I have ADHD, pmdd and now I have M.E. I'm desperate for help, I'm almost 45 and it's already destroyed so much of my life. 😢

Such great info; I wish more people knew about this so they could get proper treatment and also so depression, anxiety, etc. would not be so stigmatized.

I have PCOS, PMDD, gallbladder problems, prediabetic, depression and anxiety. when doctors just tell me to take bill control or an anti depressant i just feel likes its only helping with the symptoms and never ever getting close to the root of the problem. I have always had low levels of B vitamins and it makes sense to take b12 and folate so i am going to give this a try. I hope it can help because there is no way that i can feel this sick and awful all the time and for it to be normal. most of the month i am crippled by my period and then i have all of these health issues but i feel like i can't do anything. they say losing weight can help with PCOS but it feels impossible because of how intensely hunger i feel 24/7. there is no off switch to the bottomless hungry i feel.

If you can get your genetics tested to confirm your ongoing needs. Also check out my video on blood sugar imbalances, it talks about a supplement near the end (chromium) which can help with sugar cravings. There's small studies that say chromium can be helpful for PMDD. Have you also looked into natural progesterone?

Just an aside - Morton's toe (having seconod to longer than your big toe) is correlated with having an inability to metabolise vitamin B6. B6 is a critical element in methylation. I do not know if there are any studies looking at Morton's toe and MTHFR gene.

I have a weird feeling this could be my answer. I have Bodydymsorphia, which is a mental disorder with OCD and eating disorder. I also have severe PMDD after birth control and I was diagnosed with PCOS at a young age with a lot of mental issues at a young age.
My whole family on both sides have physical (hormone, thyroid problems and OCD, mental illnesss, eating disorders) and mental disorders, which could mean it got passed down to me. 1000000% likely.
Thank you for this video. I am taking DIM and calcium d glucarate, I heard it’s good for the mutation but it’s not enough. I’m going to look into Sam-e and methyl folate and watch your other videos.
Thank you so much for this. You’re one of my favorite on UA-cam.

Thanks for your encouragement Beauty. Definitely watch my other 2 videos on mthfr. I've also got a free mthfr report with supplement recommendations. I personally usually start with b12 and folate rather than SAMe. Some practitioners use it but I usually just use SAMe if a person doesn't respond to or tolerate b12 or folate. I'd also suggest you look into zinc deficiency and pyroluria. It's something that runs in families and can impact mental and hormonal health

Methyl B12 or methyl folate gave me heart palpitations and anxiety, it was awful, and i tried having a pin size of the pill hoping it would be a dosage issue, but inreact badly.. I have PCOS and MTHFR .

I had the same. I suggest starting on a really low dose and slowly increasing it over the year to build up your tolerance.

Hello Dr. I was born with Spina Bifida (meningocele) so I know I lacked folate or my mom did. I also suffer from PMDD and was diagnosed 2 years ago by a psychiatrist. Since I have 2 rare conditions I figured I might have either 1 or 2 copies of the mutation. Where can I get tested ? I live in Montreal Canada, I want to know. My mom also wants to get teste as she is bopolar and obviously lacked Folic Acid during her pregnancy with me. Please help xxxxxx

I feel so often very bad and low energy during and especially a week AFTER the period, could you explain what could be the reason and maybe a treatment for that? I also got PMS but my energylevels are not so low then and sometimes not even the mood.

I'm wondering if you can specify whether a particular gene variant has been found to be associated with the methylation related symptoms? C677T versus A1298C?

    • @DrJanelleSinclair
      @DrJanelleSinclair  5 років тому

The most studied gene variant is C667T. Is there a specific symptom you are referring to?

Oestrogen is not the demon for everyobe. Its Progesterone for me. Progesterone latches onto gabba A receptors prohibiting serotonin from reaching the brain. - causing severe withdrawal symptoms
Progesterone levels in my body causes me Extreme agony.
Its established through giving me more Progesterone and lowering oestrogen
Giving more progesterone can cause a depression and physical symptoms soo painful you may want to end your life.
Be careful. Everyone is different. And the advice given here could literally be damage to me.
May help some people. But I know only 2 people with PMDD and they respond very well to combi pill and not Progesterone only- it caused them harm x

This video is not about progesterone 😊. It's about a genetic weakness. You may be referring to my other PMDD video. I do need to ask you to clarify, are you talking about synthetic progesterone like pills (progestins), or actual natural bioidentical progesterone? I agree that synthetic progestins can make people very sick. It can actually cause depression and anxiety. Natural progesterone is another story. It can be a game changer for many people with PMDD. 👍
