Ah ha, at 0:50, I recognized the hotel by the seawall; it's the 'Dike Hotel.' In the spring and autumn, my wife and I often go to the beach in Lingang to watch birds, and we stay at that hotel. The restaurant on the top floor has a nice view. The east-facing rooms offer beautiful sunrises, while the west-facing rooms have views of many ducks and other water birds in the pond. I was away from , Chengdu, China for 15 years so you can imagine how much it has changed for me. I lost 45 pounds when when I had to do radiation and chemo in 2018 and they had me taking Boost very high calorie when I had to take my nutrients through a feeding tube.
Welcome back Matt, China has grown so much in the last few years! I'll be back to SH Monday from Canada. Unfortunately less flights getting back now and cost is so high. Enjoy the family time! Cheers mate!
China's speed of progress is like trying to catch up lost opportunities in the past 100 years.. It is like EV car that is unknown in the past 10 years then suddenly selling more than 30 millions in one year.

You should see Calgary and area. Whole suburbs go up. Like China quick lol. It's growing massively here. Mostly immigrants and people from Ontario are filling the new areas.
Huawei is going to move 30000 of their employees to Shanghai from Guangdong, so they built a massive HQ there, this area you were seeing could possibly is one scientific industrial area includes that Huawei HQ.
And new high speed rail routes and standard sleepers. Newer highways, airports, hotels, hostels, theme parks, nature reserves and even other high tech fields like generative AI, robots, machine tools and other industrial equipments, construction and mining machines, softwares and traditional costumes from minorities
