► Why inflammation is not the cause or problem with Tennis Elbow
► Why Tennis Elbow isn't actually a form of “Tendonitis”
► And why most Tennis Elbow sufferers need to ignore the ADVICE to ICE (or R.I.C.E.)
“Whether you use ice or heat on your Tennis Elbow or Golfer's Elbow depends on whether your priority is healing or simply pain relief…”
(So, if your priority is healing in the long run - rather than short-term pain relief - you may want to rethink the ice and choose heat instead.)

Im on my 4th video now. Still nothing but what makes tennis elbow worse or hinders healing. Nothing on what
to do as far as exercise. I’m out!!!!!
I experienced this first hand. It was a mistake to use ice, I changed for heat and started exercising my muslces gently and im starting to see improvements.
Super
Information!
Yea I was diagnosed with tennis elbow 6 weeks ago and I feel ice therapy has done nothing for it. I got a copper elbow brace that applies some heat and circulation and tried a few times with a warm pad and it felt like my progress towards healing doubled. So im gonna go straight for heat now.
Sir please tell that aplly heat bag it will recover and can i play cricket with brace ..
Thx alot sir
Very good, thank you. Wish I'd seen it sooner - it would have saved me money. Excellent!
Going to give heat a try. Been doing gentle muscle scraping on my forearm to promote circulation and healing. I think both will really help my recovery
I found that heat relieves my TE pain and ice makes it feel worse so I started ignoring the ice advice and opting for the heat. I'm glad to hear that I was right. I also stopped doing exercises to "strengthen my arm muscles" and opted for resting my arm. After 3 months of pain, it's almost gone after doing this for only a couple of weeks.
I have to do this too
Please tell me......what you've done can you please clearly tell me......cause I'm suffering from it and its painful.....please tell me.....I'll be thankful if you reply me 😢
Where is pdf sir plz provide a link I am not able to download
Ever tried low carb/ketosis?
This worked for me after months of tennis elbow. I made a sleeve out of a tube sock. Covered the area, forearm and lower triceps with deep heat and covered my whole arm with the sleeve. Mid forearm to half way up my bicep. It burns. Once I felt the heating go away. Did it again. Slept with the sleeve on. It went from very painful, just straightening my arm to barely noticeable even after work out. If I don't do this, it comes back. From lifting weights. If I do, it stays away.
What did you do to heat the tube sock? Are there other ways you recommend doing? In lots of pain here lately so glad you did well from this
@@ts5792 I think he means he’s using a cream like icy hot and then covinrring it with the sleeve if I’m not mistaken. He’s not actually heating the sock, I think.
Elbows are now connected to the big drive on the right from flax seed and left from the manual
I have BOTH tennis and elbow!!! I'm so fed up and can't stand these doctors!!! They know nothing, its crazy. I'm going to join your course.
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Hope! I look forward to seeing you inside. (You get access to both the Tennis Elbow and the Golfer's Elbow programs no matter which one you join - I hope that's not confusing!)
Did it help??
Hope, did you find relief from your combo golfers/tennis elbow? I have the same problem.
The Best!
What about the elbow joint itself where the tricep tendon insurts around the elbow point? Add heat or ice?
Hi. Thats exactly where i have the pain. Im going to try heat on it and see if it helps.
Just checking in to give back, this guy's vids helped me. I had a bad elbow that started when I stopped racing and began weightlifting. It lasted for years.
Doc said I has arthritis and it's just unlucky genetics.
But I researched and eliminated foods from the nightshade food group and wheat. Gone. It took months, When I cheat it returns in time mildly and I quit wheat again. I hope someone sees this and it helps.
billytheweasel Thanks for this, how many months till you felt better? I have it and coincidentally had started eating tomatoes again...interesting, will cut out nightshades and wheat and dairy and try that!
@@desertbluesplaylist7550 It took a few months IIRC, it's been gone for years. I eat some cherry tomatoes off the vine in our garden - it's the season. But I make sure they're red. I minimize oxalic acid too.
billytheweasel Thank you!
Hi would this apply to back pain as well using hot instead of cold?
Back pain is a lot less specific than Tennis Elbow. I don't really have an opinion.
I want information. Not questions
Switching from ice to heat has been a game changer for me tbh. I was icing my elbow several times a day with no results. I do massage and heat and on day 2 I’m already noticing some improvement.
I hear that practically every day! Glad to hear it.
Should the heat be applied before or after the massage ?
And, before or after a light arm training ?
That was a waste of 4 mins. Just say it's an advertisement for a pay plan.
After 2 months, I still don't have any swelling at all with my tennis elbow. Yes, I understand that many believe that the lack of swelling in tennis elbow likely means that it is not an inflammatory process. But is it still possible to have an ongoing inflammatory process for months without having any swelling? Is that *possible* ? Or does the lack of swelling after two months completely rule out an inflammatory process?
It's a very rare thing to have any noticeable, visible swelling with Tennis Elbow. Sometimes the tendon will have some signs of swelling on an MRI but you won't normally see it - as in looking at your elbow and seeing puffiness. (Swelling / edema is the accumulation of fluid / lymph / plasma, to be clear. It is not a sensation.) So, yes, lack of VISIBLE swelling does not mean there is absolutely no inflammatory process going on. There SHOULD be some inflammation any time you have tissue that has been injured and is now in that stage of the healing process.
@@TennisElbowClassroom Yes, thanks. It is just weird to have major pain with tennis elbow but no visible swelling. Whereas if I lightly bruise my knee with much less pain than the tennis elbow, there will often be visible bruising (which I think is an inflammatory response).
So,what is the best form of heat to use? A shower head with hot water? A microwavable heat pad thing? A sticky heat pad? Deep heat? What is the best option please and how often and how long do we apply the heat? Thanks very much
Craig
Infrared lamp therapy
I think the most important thing is to hit it with hot water under the shower or sink for just a couple of minutes as soon as possible after you get up in the AM - Anything else is a bonus. I like the Infrared idea below, but you have to buy the lamp, of course.
I've been using a hot water bottle with a support sleeve around my elbow, it's really helped me so far.
Whats the acute injury called when it is swollen?
That is sometimes called Tendonitis - In that case, when you have acute injury and associated inflammation and swelling the "ITIS" suffix is fitting - but it's not the standard, by any means. Most cases of Tennis and Golfer's Elbow do not involve either acute trauma, swelling or inflammation (except sometimes in the earliest stages) The vast majority of cases, once chronic, (6 weeks or longer) don't involve significant inflammation. (Burning pain is not specific to inflammation, by the way.)
Fourth video now and I am still confused and tired of NO info about HOW to fix my problem. Bye Bye I find another source.
He said to use heat, not ice, which I did and it helped tremendously.
please help me I have no idea how and or why my elbow is hurting
@nota russianspy i have seen a dr. and I have watched some videos I have neither 😡
@nota russianspy just had an x ray, 68 I have no Idea how i did this and no I haven't done something specfic to injury it??? like said i just sleep on my left side I do have a tumor in my lt humerus, which i'm told the two aren't connected mean the pain in my lower arm (elbow) has nothing to do with the endochondroma??... I now have had this for a total of 2 weeks the first week the pain was only a 5/10.. now its an 8 to 9/10...the dr put me on celebrex i cant take Nsaids..i'll be seeing him in 2 weeks 12/31...at that time well see if we need to progress to an MRI ....its funny I just got over having a rt achilies tendinitis.. which i went throught physical therapy... then had PRP which was amazing now no pain at all, I keep do mild stretching..can you have prp of the elbow... the dr said no.. that was amazing cost well worth it
Well, that certainly explains why I started having more pain as soon as I first iced. Thankfully, I’m less than 24 hrs in with the icing so I will just stop now. Thank you!

How are you now
How do you feel about compression therapy for tennis elbow, such as with the voodoo band and the method they are calling voodoo flossing?
I don't have anything against Voodoo Flossing. Worth a shot. (Does look like a lot of work, though.)
Inhave swelling and redness, no heat
Heat is best.
I tried with ice and i noticed that the pain just got worse i dont know how that happened..
How are you now

_Jaximus_ what did u do?
me too at i hear is that there a nerve that runs threw your inner elbow iced mine got worst
@yuyubottle to the rescue for both heat and ice recovery on the move!
Hello for elbow stiff after surgery may you help
Why do you charge to help ppl? Other therapists on UA-cam. Don't do this.
Exactly
I tried ice it didn't work
I've heard that from so many people. Not to mention that many people seem to hate doing it and don't like how it feels!
Inhave swelling so ice is good
That may be an exception - Most Tennis Elbow sufferers don't have any noticeable swelling, though - especially after it becomes chronic.
But ice for 15 or 20 minute will be like heat you missed that
Ice can also be a vasodilatator
I didn't miss that. First and foremost, ice is a vasoconstrictor and after that you get some vasodilation on "the rebound" - but look into what Dr. Gabe Mirkin (the Doctor who coined the RICE acronym in the 70s) says now. He has completely reversed his position and has even written a book against icing. Other Sports Medicine experts like Gary Reinl agree. Here's Reinl's site and his book, which includes a foreword from Mirkin: www.garyreinl.com/iced.html
Iam sania I got farcer when 3anhaf year
Cheers for the video content! Sorry for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Kiyaria Yanenry Rule (search on google)? It is a good one of a kind guide for unlocking the secret to get rid your tennis elbow without the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my old buddy Taylor finally got great results with it.
Thank you for this video. After watching it, I encouraged my sister to use heat on her tennis elbow and she found it reduced the pain very quickly and she has a wider range of movement. I’m hoping she’ll sign up for your video course. Many thanks again.
Glad to hear that, J! And thank you for your recommendation of my course to your sister!
How is she now
How did it do?
@@fingersm The heat worked well to reduce the pain. My sister then signed up for the course, followed all the exercises and it completely resolved her elbow problem. She hasn’t had any pain since. She was very happy that the exercises worked so well.
@@JH-su3rn how did she apply heat and what exercises... Can you please tell in detail?
I use ice my hands feel better
Thanks, ice didn’t stop my pain at all
Ok hihip
I understand why you would want your body to respond to an inflammatory process and not ice (restrict the blood flow).
But if tennis elbow is *NOT* an inflammatory process, what is the harm of icing?
And if tennis elbow is *NOT* an inflammatory process, why then does icing (restricting blood circulation) provide pain relief? 🤔
First see other reply... There may be some inflammation in the early stages of Tennis Elbow (6 weeks - maybe 2-3 months) as your body attempts to heal your tendon, but with chronic Tennis Elbow (6 weeks + generally) that healing process is failing. The longer this persists the more the tendon tends to slip into a state of degeneration - the OPPOSITE of inflammation and healing. The harm of icing is that inflammation is necessary and normal and you don't want to suppress it - you want to allow it - and sometimes you even need to encourage it! Look up and read all the medical explanations about how PRP, Prolotherapy, Tenex and TenJet procedures work, in theory (all forms of Tenotomy) you will see how they are trying to reverse the degenerative process (and heal smaller tears, in some cases) by causing "new" trauma and triggering a new healing response, which begins with inflammation.
Ok hihip
U
Cut out the intro and get to the info. Would appreciate it.
It's a 4 min video. Take a chill pill.
for tennis players: the correct answer is "Neither". You must stop using amateur, incorrect and very harmful stroke. You must learn correct and professional stroke. But this requires taking many tennis lessons and re-hauling entire stroke.
Okay. I agree that's important for tennis players. (I should point out that, statistically,, most people who have Tennis Elbow don't actually play tennis, so that's not going to apply to most Tennis Elbow sufferers.)
Tennis elbow does not occur only when you play tennis It can happen in many different situations, even as simple as lifting something heavy.
True to an extent
This dude is BRUTAL to listen to.
So this was a commercial
I just wanna get lean :(
Wym ?
Eat less
I just listened to one of your videos on your website.. man that took a long time to get to the information. I think you'll lose a lot of potential clients or viewers delivering that easy. Your message could be shared in 2 minutes but you ramble on and on repeating yourself talking in circles
That's a fair comment about some of my videos - especially the older ones. It doesn't appear that you're talking about this video that you're actually commenting on, though (which has 10 times more up votes than down and is only 4 minutes long.)
I'm always trying to improve. Making a good video is a complicated skill that takes a lot of practice. At this point, I tend to just ignore a lot of the comments on older videos.
Unfortunately, as you probably know, as a content producer yourself. UA-cam (unlike Vimeo) makes it impossible to change / replace a video with a better one, without destroying all your embeds, likes, comments, etc.
(Because you can only delete the old video and upload a new one - starting from scratch - and who wants to do that?)
Another non-informative video.
