The spacious, freestanding Outbreak 1550 Swag from 23ZERO will keep you comfortable every night on your touring expeditions.
The Outbreak 1550 is constructed from a 400gsm tightly woven and proofed canvas which provides a durable shelter to rest your head in. This swag has enough room for two, with enough space left over for your gear. Fully seam-sealed for protection, the Outbreak has a heavy-duty HF welded PVC bucket floor which shields you from the ground up. For ventilation, there is a super-fine mesh window at each end with zip-down canvas walls for wet conditions. To keep you comfy as you sleep, this swag features a 70mm hi-density thick foam mattress with a poly-cotton cover.
The 4-way entry makes it super easy to get in and out of, there are internal storage pockets for your essentials, and this swag also provides scenic 360-degree views. For roomy and reliable shelter every night on your travels, you can depend on the Outbreak 1550 Swag from 23ZERO.

I brought this swag from Snowys over a month ago and have put it through the test countless times already in Far North Queensland. It is absolutely amazing, especially for tropical weather with canvas sides and front tied up leaving only the mesh, looking at the stars & tops of the rain forest canopy through the skylight in the Daintree. I'm a large guy around 6 foot and 100KG and the mattress is super comfortable and I still have a bit of foot room to move around. It's a queen-size mattress and I have ample room with the missus lying next to me. No need to season the swag as the seems are already weatherproof. This was put through the test at Etty Bay on the Cassowary Coast where it poured down about 250mm overnight and we were bunkered down and dry. Another cool thing we do when the swag is totally open with the side mesh and skylight, we clip a fan to the middle pole and point the fan directly down onto us to combat the humidity. The oversized canvas bag is the best and allows you to roll it up with sheets & pillows, or a double sleeping bag in it no problem. We even left cushions in it as well. The pockets at the head area are good for keys, mobile phones & power banks. Just remember to take them out before rolling it up. LOL Overall the quality is fantastic and another great 23zero product.

Thanks for the review. My husband is 6'4" and a big guy and I'm looking for something he fits in that we can share. Is there any cot that can go under this particular swag? Him being so tall and getting older we were thinking about a cot.
I've grabbed one of these from Snowy's in March 2022. Camped in it about 25 nights, twice in the Vic High Country, down the south NSW Coast and quite a few times in the Brindabellas just outside Canberra. Camped all year around, in hot conditions and down to -6C. Had it in very heavy rain, no leaks. This is the sixth swag I've owned over 30 years and its definitely my favourite. It's huge, plenty of room for two adults. The fact you can open it up so you have a fly mesh box with ventilation all around you is a bonus in warmer months, and it's great for lying back looking at the stars, or "shapes of the trees against the moon". : ) I tend to use the included fly a lot in winter as it helps cut down on condensation. At first navigating the fly was baffling, but once you work it out I can put it on in a minute or so. The matt is "okay". I'm 107 kgs and a back sleeper and it's marginal for me. I've just added a Monstamat twin and it fits well. One thing, it's a big heavy swag. It will need to live on your roof and it's not light swinging it up and down But if you are okay with that I'd say these are well worth consideration.

Snowy videos are great. I think the zip DOWN and roll UP feature on the 1550 is crucial to permitting greater air air flow, versus some other brands where the end panels only zip UP and roll DOWN.
I’ve read how swags can get condensation and humidity in rain in hot temperatures, so the 23zero 1550 has strong advantages with roof ventilation under the rain fly. 👍

Thanks for doing a review I was sick n tired of explaining to people how good it is and all that jazz now everyone else an watch this n buy 1 😅 had mine for 3 years best investment ever little bit faded 1 strap on bag ripped as I was pulling it out of the car worth it's weight in gold

Even though I have way too many tents, I bought this one. Dog and myself spent a hot humid night in Florida and the design allows for maximum ventilation without any critters bedding down with us. It’s huge when rolled up but it’s all in one bag. Thanks for the information. You do the best documentation of the equipment. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the review. The canvas doesn’t look as good quality as my crash pad? Looks thin? I have the shower awning from 23zero and the design and quality was disappointing for the money. I’m sceptical towards purchasing their other products
We don't carry Crashpad and I'm not personally familiar with them @North Oz Photography, so cant comment on a comparison.

My only issue with it has been the bag. One of the handles stitching has started coming loose but that was prolly due to it getting caught when putting the swag down. Otherwise it's got plenty of room for me n my partner, and I can roll it up with my cold mountain sleeping bag and two pillows inside
Yeah, you gotta make sure you don't pull on the handles so it folds back over itself, they are not designed to take weight in that direction. Thanks for your feedback. ~ Ben
Hi Snowy’s great and honest video! Swag looks great and am thinking of buying it, but would like to maybe get a stretcher to go with it. Do you have any or even know of any stretchers of big enough dimensions to fit this swag on it? And one which is of good build quality as well obviously..?
Given the size & shape theres no compatible stretcher options I'm sorry, @Bruno Playfair.
Sometimes you can get away with the standard 1400 swags on a double stretcher, but all double stretchers have a supporting bar that runs straight down the middle. The bar often creates discomfort and can raise the middle of the swag.
The 1550 & 1400 swags are best left on the ground.

Has there been any known issues with the canvas tearing at the pole rings in the bottom corners? I have read couple reviews of this happening.
I personally haven't heard of this, Leon but It's likely that we have seem this issue or similar at some stage in the past. The majority of 23Zero products don't have problems though, and on the occasion an issue does pop up the manufacturer comes through with warranty support. ~ Ben
Will the exped 15cm SIM fit in here and be able to be packed away with the swag?
The Outbreak swag has an octagon footprint, so normal rectangular mats wont fit in without the corners folding I'm sorry!

Yeah I just got the Nebula from watching a video as couldn't see it setup. Was dissapointed in the mattress and mostly the end windows. You can't ventilate the swag in wet humid weather. You have to zip the end doors closed as they roll up not down so the bottom half is exposed in a downpour. I really think this is a huge design fault. I've had afew swags and missed this when I got it. I'm sorry Darche but it just doesn't make sense? Build quality is fantastic though. And there's no way your not getting heaps of condensation inside with two people and humid weather closed up. I'm selling it and getting this one I think.

@@Galvoflysozthese were my thoughts too on the Nebula....I’m sure it’s fantastic in nice weather, but in a tropical storm on a hot humid night - you’d be sweating your @ss off till morning without much sleep. So I got the 23zero 1550 instead primarily for the better window designs etc. I love the look of the nebula with those overhangs & the ripstop canvas, but the lack of ventilation on a hot rainy night was a deal breaker.
Im tossing between this and Darche Nebula. Which one do you guys recommend? It seems like outbreak has a better ventilation design during rainy weather?
We dont really recommend one over the other - they're very similar in build and material quality so its hard to say which one is 'better'.
The outbreak has the roof windows giving you an open air feel, where as the Nebula has end windows that open fully with abit of an eve over them which gives you 360° views.
If you're using mostly in rainy weather both come with a fly that helps with condensation.
I'd say the roof windows may be your deciding factor, but more so for sky gazing, etc if thats important to you.

Does anyone know if the fly is able to keep the rain out should you want to keep the roof flaps open (like on a hot day/night)?
It will keep some of the rain out, Steve, but you'd need to apply some common sense in that if it is wind driven rain then there is a chance of water coming in sideways. I reckon that on a hot still night with some light rain, you'd be fine. ~ Ben

Will the twin zempire monster matt fit inside of it
The twin monstamat is about 20cm narrower than this swag, and the mat corners have to fold up due to the cut off walls on either end of the swag. Unfortunately theres no easy substitute with a self inflating mat for these swags.

How does it compare with the 1400 Bandit from 23Zero. Pros and Cons for each?
Their the same built qualiity and materials @mbglurn, the only real difference is the size and shape. The Outbreak is abit larger than a standard double swag at 1550 wide, and has an octagonal base. The Bandit is 1400 wide and is rectangular.
You may have issues finding replacement or upgraded mattress options for the Outbreak due to floor shape, but it has loads more functional space.
Theres no one over the other here, it's just a matter of which design & features appeal to you the most.

Measurement between the poles are 1.7m
It's about 1.4 metres between the main hoops, Lee, I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say 1.7m. ~ Ben

How does everyone go loading this swag into the tub of a dual cab ute? Does it fit?
Depends on your tub dimensions - the pack size is 160L x 40W x 40H cm
In term of loading it, I don't have any issues lifting it if that helps!

This weekend my two year old son and I went for an overnight with this swag. My favourite swag by far! Very roomy. The mattress could be thicker but overall love it.

There is only one size for the Outbreak now, and it's a pretty big swag. They used to make s 2400 version but that was discontinued. ~ Ben
Fly sheet is a waste, never used it, swag is great, but the straps a too short to roll up with a sleeping bag inside

@@SnowysOutdoors the fly sheet absolutely does as advertised, but I’ve stopped taking it as I’ve never found the need for it as I’ve never had the swag leak or found it too hot.
Every tent comes with those shitty little tent stakes. They pull out of the ground so easily in high wind.
Some manufacturers are coming around and providing better stakes with their tents, but many still come with lightweight pegs that aren't suitable for more than fine weather. ~ Ben
I was sold until I saw the end mesh on the inside of the canvas so you have to open both to open the canvas. HOW STUPID IS THAT??? Welcoming the bugs in.
