To anybody unfamiliar with Nate's comedy, please don't be turned off by the "clean" or "family friendly" characterizations. They are true, mind you, but don't take that to mean that his comedy is somehow dumbed down or 'for kids' or something. His comedic style is every bit as clever and 'grown up' as any other comic. He just happens to deliver his jokes in a way in which you won't be blushing if your parents or children also happen to be in the room.
It’s true. Years ago, after I heard him on Maron’s podcast, I got Yelled at by a Clown (his cd) and it was hilarious. I played it for a friend, especially the Davey street bit about the “serial killer”. We were on the verge of tears. It was the first bit I introduced him to. Then I pointed out that he’s a clean comic, which made it more impressive since it’s not something you even notice because the comedy is so strong it doesn’t depend on it. My other favorite bits are being worse off if he time travelled, the John and Jane Doe bit, getting a Transformer for his birthday and the text messages between he and his wife. So glad he’s been getting more popular.
@@djstarsign Exactly! That's a damn good point actually... it kind of makes it more impressive that he's able to do that while doing it clean... and yeah, people have this image of a "clean" comic like all his material is about potatoes and jesus, or something. Not true! In this case at least. haha
He's amazing. I had that same observation when I first got into him, like wow, comedy can be clever and doesn't have to always be so vulgar all the time, makes it way more funny and refreshing too ❤🎉
I watch Nate whenever I have the chance because he is so entertaining. You can hear the same jokes repeatedly because his delivery is so excellent. He has had a long career, starting in NYC and after he went back to Tennessee he just rocketed. Congrats, Nate. America loves comedic talent and you got it!
There’s honestly no need to categorize Nate as “clean” comic. The dude is a killer and you almost don’t realize that his material is “clean” until it’s pointed out. He’s just that good. And honestly it’s epic how much he rose up threw comedy in the past 5 or so years
Yea, he was running on flat ground for the first 10 or so years, then just took off like a rocket in the last 5 years. Getting an episode on Netflix “Stand Ups” introduced him to a huge audience, and it all took off from there. I became a huge fan of him a year, or to before that, when I would heart him on Pandora. I was so excited when I first heard he was going to be on Stand Ups!
This is perfectly said. Nate is fresh and original. When I first heard him I had no preconceived opinion. Watched him on Netflix I think, and I absolutely adored it. I started to notice halfway through the show, that he didn't "swear" and he certainly wasn't another "dick-joke-comedian".
Nate only talks about his family, and gives long, drawn out stories about himself and his childhood. He is the opposite of funny. He’s likely on the spectrum and if challenged he unravels
I saw him at the Greek Theatre this past August and not only is Nate hilarious but his dad!!! His dad kicked things off and man it was great!! Congrats Nate.
I watch Nate's specials over and over because his delivery is so on point, I know the lines but I still laugh. I'm a bit of a comedy snob and I like who I like, and man, I really love Nate. He seems like a really good, down to earth guy. Don't change Nate, you're right where you need to be.
SO happy to see his success. I remember listening to him for the first time 5 or 6 years ago, listening to 'Laughed at by a clown' and what a fantastic record that is. And now he's playing arenas and breaking attendance records. Amazing to see.
His standup has real staying power. I've watched many of his clips over and over, and they're still hilarious. I hope he continues to get the success he deserves... :)
I first saw Nate 2019 and instantly loved him. He was playing locally in 2020. I got tickets in January for a April show. Unfortunately Covid got in the way I watched his specials everything over and over and overall through Covid and then in April 2022, my original tickets were honored. my tickets were VIP tickets where I could meet him after I did this in the beginning because he was not this famous and I thought it would be fun to meet someone on their way up. After the concert I met him just to tell him thank you for making me laugh all through Covid. I have to tell you he’s as nice as you think he is he was so much fun regular person I wasn’t asking for an autograph or anything and he says, come on take a picture with me and he hugs me because he was so happy that I was happy that he made me happy. He’s special.
I just found Nate about a year ago and can’t get enough of this thoughtful, extremely funny guy. My dad was from Nashville which drew me to him- his humor has me watching over and over again, awaiting new material. Congratulations on a fantastic monologue and the great performances in the skits from Saturday Night Live. I’m a fan for life. ♥️
I absolutely cannot get enough of this man's comedy. Ever since the 1st time I watched him, I was completely enamored. His delivery is unmatched (in my opinion) to anyone else out there today. Anyone who's not seen his stand-up, please do yourselves a BIG favor and seek some out now. Laughter is the best medicine and this gentleman knows how to deliver. Bless you Nate, keep up the GREAT work.
What I notice is how different Jimmy Fallon is around comedians vs non-comedian guests. With big name actors or musicians or politicians, Jimmy is a perfectly fine late night host. But with stand up comics, he seems genuinely enthusiastic & much quicker to laugh & just cheerier. I think he really connects with fellow comics, especially those whose careers are growing. Maybe it’s my imagination.

It is beyond refreshing to have a comedian that is brilliant and keeps it "clean". His Nateland podcast is also fantastic. He deserves every bit of the success he's earned.
