How to refresh Volkswagen #GolfMK7 key fob by replacing used rubber button pad and swapping key chain hole from plastic to metal one. You need to disassemble the remote by removing battery cover, next remove single torx screw holding the key chain hole, slide it out, pry side cover and pry out old button pad. The put everything back together using new parts.
All parts can be bought cheap on AliExpress.

4 button's is usually used in the north american market.

You can actually get an “R” metal piece at the bottom to make your key look like the Golf R fob.

Treads are different on the metal end. U get a screw with it with finer treads. U used the wrong screw that’s why u had trouble.

You don't have to remove the side panel to change the keypad. The bottom cap is enough.
