I fly planes and helicopters so been looking for a fun little fpv drone so I'm now on the notification list for the DSM version since I run spektrum from horizon hobby. Most micro drones are for FRSKY and I don't want to learn another radio or spend the $$ on a new radio.

The radio lock-in thing is a pain, I'm on FRSKY and desperately wanna do crossfire but the expense is a lot when that money could be used to buy other kit like better goggles. Hope you enjoy it when it arrives, I'm sure you will!

Thanks for taking the time to make this review. I’m a having a struggle deciding which new red robe to buy. Curious why you picked the BL if you’re not using 2S. Wouldn’t the Beebrain Lite, AcroBee Lite or BeeBrain Pro work well for you too? How did you pick? And what whoop did you come from before buying this or was this your first whoop?

This was my first whoop, unless you count the ol' snapper7 I started on, ages ago, but that thing was a fail, no resiliency to crashing.
Before this I was primarily a micro pilot, I really like small quads, and a large part of my passion for the hobby is in designing and building new frames. The 2S 2.5-3inch size is perfect for that. I am a massive fan of the BeeBrainBL as an FC on those builds, so this made sense. I'll share a video on one of those builds soon. I wanted to try this one because it was the newest hot thing from NBD and I'm a fan of the way they do business and support the community, no technical choice over the others really.
I haven't tried it on 2S yet, but I have ordered some of the 16420kV motors to do so (rumour has it you can run the gold motors on 2S too, but I haven't tried it yet).
I would say the clinching factor for me on this one over the others is the 100mW VTX since I fly 95% outdoors and enjoy the range.
Personally I would stay away from brushed because I don't want to be replacing motors all the time, but that is only second-hand knowledge, I haven't actually experienced it.
The Brushless HummingBird Pro is something I'd like to try still. I hear its a great racer due to the lower weight.
