Nice Comparisons! Thanks Mate
Very interesting and thanks for the video.
thnx Andrew.... I prepared 4p Lumenier antenna into my chart to pay more than 100euro..... I am lucky watched your video! I have some original Aomway and satisfied with them..... NO way to buy Lumenier usless to spend 100......
Aomways are as good as anything else.
I have tested a lot of antennas in the past years, but weird enough, the cheap Aomways seems to outpreform all others. Indoors, park flying and even long range! Love them!
That's my experience too, at least when just using goggles and 200mW
Thats not interference Andrew, its signal dropout, caused by the Goggles only have one antenna on them, its a Diversity Goggle. In this siuation, you should have a second RHCP antenna on the Goggles and then compare reception signal strength. My diversity monitor has live % rssi for each reciever antenna, thats what you should be monitoring for a definative answer.
What looks like signal loss, is actually poorly timed diversity switching on the Goggles.
surely if there is no signal, no antenna, on the second channel the goggles won't try to switch over ??
@@stevietee10 It later transpired, that these Aomway Goggles were indeed defective, switching RXs regardless of signal or antenna...Signal dropout at a mere 50 metres isn't normal, and certainly isn't "interference"...even on 5.8g...🤔🇬🇧
I think that a higher gain antenna will be *more* susceptible to interference from external sources (subject to it's gain diagram). To compare performance in low signal (as opposed go high noise) you'll need that attenuator I think. Or to use a lower power setting on the vTX. Ideally both.
Cheers Andrew for that. My thinking now after watching alot of antenna tests is regardless of what the booklet says you just have to fly with what works for the area you fly in. It's never the same for all flight areas.
I have switched to a dipole and Amway at my flight site because I get better reception then with 2x Amway. Yet at my second site I fly with 2x Amway. The first site has lots more noise and the dipole seems to mitigate it despite there bad reputation.
Makes good sense Angus
Excellent vid! I fly the same Aomway antennas as you because, well, you told me they were good to be honest. LOL Haven't really used much else especially on my goggles. I did think the Lumeniers did better over the tree line but worse on the other side of the field but the break ups seemed, to me at least, to be bigger break ups than the Aomway. Again, nice vid and thanks Andrew. :)
Ta, I have discovered that it's very difficult to compare antennas and show the results. RF noise is not continuous and there is never a clear conclusion.
I think the Aomway was slightly better...TFS!
Andrew, have you done or can you do vid on basic FPV setup, parts ,wiring etc, for just short range stuff.Cheers
Yes a few. Have a look in my FPV playlist
@@AndrewNewton thx👍
How do you get such (motor-)noise-free video? Are you using any capacitors/LC-filters ? Which FC ? Power directly from battery ? - Questions, Questions...Thanks.
Matek F411 wing board, but video power comes from the LiPo balance lead through an LC filter
Stubbies are hands down the best VTX antenna you can buy for quads ans low drag wings, and worth every single cent of 20 american I would use nothing but if I could afford it. I have killed one that had been through more crashes then I would Like to admit and died in a antenna on impact LOL!
Oops, it does look like a tough little antenna
Nice test, but remember the better the antenna, the more interference you will get. It was quite obvious there is interference emitting from the area and the poorest antenna will be the best because it is not strong enough to pick it up. The best test is where there is no interference where you can go for distance. The best antenna will allow you to fly the farthest. Happy Flying
