Magia.
I climbed to the top of the highest mountain and I spread my wings and I jumped and I'm flying now listening to this magical and beautiful music which I've known for so many years now. Every time I listen to it It takes me far away from here, and it makes me feel at peace
It is 2022, at least at the time of my comment. The sound quality of this upload, this loss quality that happens to tape recordings througout the years, is something that the audio industry is trying to replicate, to emulate, using softwares. But such goal has not been achieve yet. Maybe, someday it will. Maybe not. So, this upload, that dates back to 2006- and I have listened since 2008- it is a piece of gold; a gem. It is an object of study.
This is both Ancient and Futuristic at the same time. The most confounding piece of instrumental music I've ever heard! Like totally alien in nature, yet warm and comfy. BLUDDY FURCKING ASTONISHING
Mmmmemories of a great trip while visiting the Mull of Kintyre, way back Xmas 1985, and yes, I do mean a 'great trip' The journey back to the house, me and a few mates were renting, all pilled into the back of a ford van with this playing, shall stay with me forever. craaaaaaazzzy days. I miss 'em.
This album was the promise fulfilled of the electronic/computer music revolution that actually started at MIT in the late 1940s. This is what can be done to create incredible, almost-impossible-to-realize music. A masterpiece.
......................
Nekada davno, bio sam u osnovnoj skoli kada sam prvi put cuo ovu muziku.Bilo je gotovo nestvarno, kao najlepsi san. Od tada je proslo mnogo godina a ja jos uvek sanjam Tangerine Dream i Ricochet.
this album will never be matched, still ahead, even now exactly 32 years old. classic TD sequencer lines, drum machine, samples and loops in a huanting fresh sound. so great to see a "video" to this..
Thanks @ peezipez for uploading this outstanding tune.... Tangerine Dream (especially the early one) are one of the most important musicians for my life. I still love it to watch the stars during the the warm midsommer nights listening this TD music....
What a gem this is. Good ol' youtube and the legion of amateurs who record, keep track, and document history. Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze are the fathers of electronica. They have spawned many children and can be very proud. It's up to the kids to remember where they come from.
This stuff gets better and better, and that's coming from someone who's never really been excited by electronic music. This is beautiful, hypnotic and compelling music. Great post!
I took a Red Alien with this one! Quite simply the most gut-wrenching emotional piece of ambient ever written, apart from Green Desert. I remember this as if it were yesterday. Thanks for posting!
If you liked this, from 1975, try their first two (this is the 3rd) Virgin albums, Phaedra ('74) and Rubycon ('75). Their 4th, Stratosfear, may not please you, their next, Encore, is put together from their N. American tour, and contains material from Rubycon and Ricochet, but there are some nice long sequencer parts. Their 6th Virgin album, Cyclone, displeased many fans as it has vocals, but the 'B' side ( 1 track, Madrigal Meridian) is well worth checking out.
Amazing band. I saw them in Sheffield in 1981 (IIRC) which was the end of the period when they still had a huge stage setup with a mix of the old analogue stuff but with the new digital instruments coming in. The sound quality was crystal clear and the light show was minimalist but very effective. Thanks for the clip!
I love the pre-digital electronic music. So much warmth in this sound... A characteristic warmth which can hardly be find in today's digital electronic music.
I'm 47, and first heard of this group when I was 14, and their soundtrack to SORCERER was just released. Unfortunately, I didn't get to hear them until the 1981 movie THIEF (Michael Mann's directoral debut), and loved them ever since. Their music for FIRESTARTER and RISKY BUSINESS are my favorites.
I was at the York Minster gig on this tour. It was my first gig and I was dragged along by my uncle. Since then have been an avid TD die hard (even through the late 80's californian Kenny G style crap). Cant wait to see them live again at the Royal Albert Hall in April!
Very cool...I was a bit too young at the time but I grew up on this stuff. This is the sound of my childhood, brings back memories of the theme to Street Hawk...awesome! ;)
i first heard tangerine dream in 76 back when the acid was good and cheap and you had a couple of pipes of hash to come down on and tangerine in the background...great stuff

Timeless and brilliant piece by Franke,Froese and Baumann!!!
Masterpeace!! Reminds me of my trip to Italy 1989 Wow this brings a lot of sweet memories On that trip we heard for the first time What time is Love of the KLF
to remember friend YVON SCHEYS ( Belgium) died 1/10/2011 , fan of the first time of this group and cosmic music . Your and others spirits will never be forgotten ! You was a true friend ! Hope you find the eternal freedom and peace !
This song is relaxing! And, for some reason, it makes me think of one of those science shows, like Nova, as they show a scene of plant growth, planet-forming, cell division, or something of the like in fast forward! It's rather nice!
By looking at the comments here, the relaxing sound of the music of Tangerine Dream really works. Greetings from Antwerp and peace brothers and sisters on you all.
The best electronic music group in the world.
Actually Eric I believe that the tendancy to stop looking for "new sounds" is equally practiced by the young as it is by the older generation. Never-the-less I agree with you that todays youth are turning out worlds of wonderful new and exciting music probably more than what was being produced when I was young.
oh lord - One of the first psycedelic stuff of my youth..."stratosfear" I loved most & beside: I#ts still damnd good...timeless! It's true - they made a lot of grap too...but:Who didn't ?! lol...
Bear in mind the audio here is from the 1975 TD live album 'Ricochet'. The film itself was mute, and Part 2 of Ricochet was dubbed over it - not by the uploader, I hasten to add - this is how the original DVD was presented.
Superior musicianship. It is truly amazing how much incredible music came to be in the early-mid 70s, the golden age of modern music. Tangerine Dream, Yes, King Crimson, The Who, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Magma, Van Der Graaf Generator, etc etc etc etc.
Part two is good and introspective but T.D.'s masterpiece is Rubicon pts one and two.Undescribably beautiful and haunting, composition on another level that makes even the most accomplished classical piece sound primitive. Beyond description.....just experience. Nigel.

This song is devastating my heart now... R.I.P. Edgar Froese...

The 1st few minutes of this fills me with a sublime, beautiful sadness like nothing else.
That tape warble is the loveliest sound

Absolutely fantastic, had this on vinyl for years. Real music.

A masterpiece in electronic music !

once upon a time there was a great music. times have really changed.

It's true - they made a lot of grap too...but:Who didn't ?! lol...
I love TD and have been an avid fan for over 20 years.
I had no idea they had to sequence everything manually back then...
Bear in mind the audio here is from the 1975 TD live album 'Ricochet'. The film itself was mute, and Part 2 of Ricochet was dubbed over it - not by the uploader, I hasten to add - this is how the original DVD was presented.
you took the words right out of my mouth
they were well ahead of their time
So fantastic, much psycedelic. Set the speed up to 160BM and we have moderen psy trance x]
O Boże, jakie to jest nieziemskie!!! Muzyka z kosmosu i z wnętrza ziemi.
Here is an interesting retro song and video. TD paved the way for many american listeners to electronic sounds.
Ricochet is one of best TD works ever made. It's about tied with Rubycon as my favorite.

RIP Edgar Froese ;(
There is no such creativity today!! We progress in technology and regress in creation...
That is the best description of poor quality oldies but goodies I've ever read.
Part two is good and introspective but T.D.'s masterpiece is Rubicon pts one and two.Undescribably beautiful and haunting, composition on another level that makes even the most accomplished classical piece sound primitive. Beyond description.....just experience.
Nigel.
great pioneers !
music to gaze and to admire
Incredible to see Edgar Froese as a keyboard virtuoso!
beautiful song. really takes the mind places.
