    Some things sequenced, some things played live in real time. These are the ways of this kind of music (electro, kraut, ambient,,,,called what you like), it is pure nectar. Thanks Froese! soundtrack of so many beings! OM!

    I saw them every time they toured - in fact I had the privilege of watching them from backstage on a number of occassions - and it was then I realised that much of it is mimed - more than 70% truth be told. I watched a number of concerts during the same tour and noticed different keyboards being used a couple of places - yet the sound was exactly the same each concert! I still enjoyed the shows - especially the Dominion concert tour.

    Farewell Edgar Froese. The inspired creative, fantastic electronic artistic wizard, who's works of audio landscaping have provided a personal soundtrack for many around the world through solo performances, or with members of Tangerine Dream. His contributions to music have inspired many as well as enthralled countless others who sought out these recordings after being introduced to this stand alone, unchallenged hypnotic genre, and who as well, have also attended performances around the world with great enthusiastic anticipation that lead to a great undeniable satisfaction. I have, like thousands of other countless appreciative fans, purchased these greatly sculpted recordings, all with Edgar's touch over the years since the 1970's, and hope to continue to do so along with the many countless dedicated fans past and present worldwide. Let the Dream continue. The Tangerine Dream.

      You are so right! I thought the same, especially that spooky organic sound during the intro he's creating on that PPG Wave 2.2 reminded me so much of The Grudge. Man he was waaaay ahead of his time. So awesome!

  • @PhilAndersonOutside
    @PhilAndersonOutside 15 років тому +5

    Well, there's only so much one guy can actually play live, especially with this kind of music. I would prefer though that he played the lead sounds, more than controlling the sequences with the PPG. But sequencers were way more primitive and finicky in 1981 than today.
    Saw TD a few times in the 80's, FFS and FFH lineups - they played as much live as anyone possibly could with six hands and were impressive - maybe 20% sequenced, the rest live.
    Post 2000 TD, maybe 80-90% sequenced. :-(

      My god, Limey is a TD fan. I have about twenty of their old albums on vinyl. Edgar is getting a bit long in tooth like poor old Harry was, but as with H, his greatness will hopefully open some doors for those who
      come afterwards. We have had a year without winter here in San diego. You ought to try it sometime. I have a full garden already to harvest and I usually don't even set the seeds in until this time of year. It is actually fucking hot here, like summer gets. And the rest of the country and probably your way too, are using icepicks to get their car doors open! Hope you and T are happy and prosperous as always...good to hear from you.

    @alexeykh thanks; in italy the word to say church is "chiesa" from latin "ecclèsia" from greek "ecclesìa": athenian people when decided something together! and communio in latin is the same of koinonia in greek, which was a cooperative; italian "compegno" used by communists comes from "we have the same bread", may be Holy Communion
    the words have their roots

Cool to see Edgar performing in personal appearance. Big fan of TD since the early eighties. I love their 70's & 80's material the best. Tangerine Dream is a huge inspiration in my music compositions as well. RIP Edgar Froese!

    @ the "prerecorded" wailers: perhaps you should try this at home before you moan? Froese only has one standard pair of hands. Obviously, a solo performance is going to rely on a certain amount of sequenced backing. And, as a previous poster has pointed out, complex digital synths can do strange things whose relationship to hand movements isn't always obvious.
    Froese is more about texture. If you're after melodies, you want Herbie Hancock...
