- Here’s the recently revised Kia Sportage! Having been the first video reviewed on the carwow UA-cam channel, it has a special place in Mat’s heart. But the question is, has the updated model done enough to improve on the previous edition, or does the Sportage rank below similar new competitors like the Mazda CX-5? Join Mat for his latest review to find out!

Did you have any problems with it? And which engine do you have?
Wife: "Mat, do you love me?"/ Mat:" Click on the banner in the top right-hand corner of the screen or on the link below to find out"
Wife: But Mat, do you love me? Mat: I reckon I should consider it but there are other alternatives.
I thought it was because she had a nice set of soft touch plastics.
Daz Dee haha, classic. 😂🤣😂🤣
"you can hold 2 big jugs so yeah :)"
Mat the type of guy
I'm not a car guy and I don't even know how to drive, but man these reviews are really satisfying, congratulations on the view milestone sir
@The Legend of Texas Perhaps you should get lost because you are not polite or being of any use.
@ϟϟ White Wolf ϟϟ ya wee idiot
Ik these reviews entertain me
Ok but it
if you don't drive, how do you get around?
The reason the rear middle seat belt is crossing the side passengers seat is because you have mixed up the buckles, the end one plugs in on your right (L.H. S. in video) and the other buckle is pulled across your lap to the left hand side.
The end one can be left permanently plugged in, this then stops passengers not familiar with the belt mixing it up like you have done.
My Wife's grand scenic has the same system, although the magnet holding the belt in the roof when fully retracted is more central.
Hey Mat, I'm certain you are THE BEST car reviewer on YT by a country mile. The mix of solid information and cheeky humour is hard to beat. Keep it going Mat.
Congrats on reaching 2 million subscribers. You guys truly deserve it❤❤😂. Love for carwow and Mat..
For economy cars, i think it is better if you call hard plastic as 'hard plastic' instead of 'cheap plastic'!
It might be hard quality plastic, but cheap is cheap whether soft or hard :D
@A real bisexual petrol-head I hate vertical vents as well :D It came from america, it is so stupid and ugly :D
@A real bisexual petrol-head No, they look better not European.....
@A real bisexual petrol-head Yes, american cars started using them, so this is from where the design got more popular.
Volvo has vertical vents, even Porsche also had vertical vents once upon a time, does that mean they're are cheap cars?
The main reason for watching carwow is Mat, he is cool and i love the way he is presenting the cars. Keep up the great work Mat!
I just passed my driving test yesterday 3/9/21 😁 and it’s the Sportage I’ve wanted since I began driving 3 years ago I hear it’s one of the best suvs in this price range
Did you get it?
In my experience, most of the time it's adults who fling open doors without any care for others.
This is true
Yeah
My brother in law bought this car/suv the base model which has almost everything modern cars need for 15990 euros brand new, it is amazing how much of a car you get for that amount of money, there is no car coming close for that value for money
I can't believe it's been three years already !
Happy birthday to this wonderful channel !
Great review. I have the 1.6 Tucson and its pulling power at low revs is non existent. Not so bad when rev'ed passed 2,500 revs. Although its very smooth and quiet even at 60-70.
OMG carwow's stick of truth has grown up 👏👏👏
I still remember the days when Mat reviewed for Carbuyer 😂
And rebecca
It was only three years ago, mate.
@@aliar11 Still in 3 years Mat and the Carwow team gained a lot of popularity. Over 2.1 million subscribers now - Carwow must have made a lot of money over the years.
I live in India and most of the cars reviewed by you guys are not in my country, but I still watch your videos only because of Mat Watson.
Vikas Sharma respect 👍🏽
At least it’s not t-series that’s what I’ll say
Anmol Mishra brands like Mazda, Peugeot, Seat, etc. are not in India. And Kia will be coming later this year.
@@agnidoot also Subaru
So u only drive Tata nd Mahindra in India
My wife wanted the 2020 Sportage, she loves it, that’s all that matters to me
And so how is it? I didn't see him mention how comfortable it is on long trips?
Own a 2.4 petrol AWD Sportline Sportage. Travelled 18000kms and not a problem. Love driving the car on the highway or around town. Wife previously owned a KIA Rio 1.6 GDI. TRAVELLED 100,000kms without a glitch. Great liitle car. Plenty of go and surprisingly able long distance car.
Probably one of the best midsize SUV's out there atm.
Matt, get the Galaxy S10+ since you mentioned you need a new phone. Alternatively, you could get the OnePlus 6T if you're looking for something a bit cheaper
Huawei P30 Pro, that is epic
6T's camera is utter trash.
and i doubt Matt is going for a budget phone. better get the p30 pro or s10+
One plus Mclaren edition 🙃
Mat has got a phone but didn't reveal it. I saw it in Instagram
Yeaah either Galaxy S10+ or Huawei P30 Pro 👌🏼
While watching this in my 1999 KIA sportage
These are great cars. I had a base model N/A FWD & it was fine. Had all the kit I needed, enough power for the application, was supremely comfortable in my opinion & the best warranty in the business. I'm a car enthusiast like many journos (drive a RWD sports car now) but sometimes I think Journo's mis-manage their expectations from a general consumer point of view. The steering in the Sportage is FINE, the average person will be more than happy with the steering.
Which engine you have?
@@brankovukovic3658 I had the naturally aspirated 2.0 petrol. It's anemic if you have a leadfoot but it was fine otherwise - had enough punch when you needed it & surged way more torque than my current GT86, which is woeful at pickup. I did find the petrol Kia thirsty around the city (with my leadfoot driving) so a diesel would definitely solve that, but on the freeway it was fine & dropped consumption significantly with cruise control. It is a bloated SUV after all.
@@HoofHearted2DAY How much Horse power UA-cam have? I look basic and cheapest 1.6 petrol 132 hp GDI write on engine. I most to go to salon Kia and go for longer test drive.
i suggested my dad to buy the sportage after watching your review 3 years ago . loving the car till now XD
Nothing pleased you Mat, when the windows go all the way down the ledge is too high, when it’s low enough the window doesn’t go down enough, nothing can please you just make peace with it.
Congrats on the 2M subs. Now that’s 2M reason to get a new phone Matto
Agreed! Samsung S10 or join the Pixel 3 party!
Maybe he uses it just for demo purposes?
Maybe he has kids that have smashed his newer phones so he doesn't bother with the latest phones?

Its an affordable compact utility...and does have some small things that need to be resolved...ie. the seat belt in back roof...but the plastics hard or soft and button bonanza...but its the best looking and most reliable and long term quality vehicle. KIA does respond quickly to small issues. But for the price and quality it is awesome.
I believe it's pronounced Sportage, not Sportage.
@Thor Screw you
@A real bisexual petrol-head I think this is the best comment I have ever read, thanks for making my day.
@A real bisexual petrol-head People can have children whatever they fucking want to.
"Sportage, not Sportage" or "Biscuit, not Biscuit"...
This comment section is solid gold
The Carwow Tree of Truth, rather.
Hahah I can't believe what are they doing with their exhaust pipes.
Edition 25 has electric seats, 360 cam , blind spot assist and led lights
Love mine. Miles better than the 16plate 2 I use to have .
Thought I agree the engine is pretty pants .
I have just traded in my 2016 Peugeot 3008 Alure for a Kia Sportage 2 . Both WERE 1.6 Automatic diesels.
The acceleration from a stop is much better on the Kia , one alway had to take care pulling away from a junction in the 3008. The fuel consumption is much better in the Kia. The door pockets were much bigger in the 3008and I would say they are por in the Kia , hardly big enough for sunglasses and a packet of tissues. Generally, the 3008had more useful storage space . I really miss the heads up displa of the 3008 , I believe Peugeot have dropped in on the 2020 models anyway.
I disagree strongly with the comment about the Kia's steering compared to the 3008 . It was immediately noticeable the !ia is much , much lighter to steer and the pick up speed was much better.
My wife found the seats much more comfortable in the Kia. I don't like the speed and cruise control adjusters on the Kia while it seems better on the steering wheel rather than a stalk in practice Ifound then difficult, temperamental to use and locate while driving ...the Peugeot was a much better position and far more positive.
I found the Kia much easier to drive but , unexplainable, not so good on visibility. It as a spare wheel instead of a repair pump thingy but that does not seem to reduce the load space. There are a few better driving / driver aids in the Kia such as better climate control ,hill start and down hill retardation, heated seats .......I am not sure about Stop Start I don't think it has worked yet . Having said that the 3008 and my previous Qashai rarely worked after 12 months .
The spec on the Kia says it has no front parking sensors ...which seems ludicrous... the rear view camera assist is better than the 3008 .
So, overall the Kia is better, but I do miss some of the features the 3008 had or were better .
Kia sportage its the first video reviews, and this sportage 2019 is in blue color like the Carwow badge !!!
Mat is the reason i watch these videos
I always like your reviews a lot but there are some things that I never understand that you complain about.
1. Putting seats down manually and on the side. How often do you actually need to use this? It’s not a problem with kids either because they are not in the car with you naturally.
2. Cheap plastics in the back. Have you got kids? They will try to destroy the panels with whatever it takes. Good with plastic. Bad with soft leather.
3. Fake exhausts. I think that rear accidents costs a lot already. No reason to damage the full exhaust system as well.
You mention it's an alternative to the skoda koraq but the picture that pops up is the new kamiq
and you wrote Koraq instead of Karoq. What a mess.

@trAovm rtqaq Mmmm I disagree
Kia Sportage is the best SUV!
Buy the petrol for real exhaust tips they make them "fake" on diesel to reduce getting a black greasy rear boot n bumper but want to keep the same look as the petrol . I have one and used to have the old ceed gts which had real exhaust tips but was always black rear end.
This guy is one of the best car reviewer
No Matt, if you want a petrol engine stick with 1.6 liter naturally aspirated non turbo engine. Turbo engines is a headache in terms of reliability.
1997 called and asked for their out of date engines back. If its not turbo then its not worth it.
@@markdenyer8072 you're scared uh, let me guess you got a turbo car.lol
Haven't heard of any problems with turbos fited on modern engines... The turbo doesn't really change much in terms of reliability. And nowadays its pretty much impossible to find a naturally aspirated car anyway...
Lets just go back to steam engines incase something breaks. Of course there is more to fail but the engine will be far better with a turbo.
You mean basic model with 132 HP?I considered to bay this entry model. What your opinion?
Its the only compact suv with a dif lock though, apart from the evoque which is going to break down after 1 hour of driving. That though its a pretty good offroader for this class
Too bad they still didn't improve that head room... It's really tight on my Sportage (previous one, with panoramic roof). Other than that, fantastic car.
Next gen coming soon
Its the same shell so not a totally new model. The next one will be
Mat, you should do topgear, they need a good reviewer.
I love what Kia are doing with their cars of late. They have a very posh feeling to them, a good alternative if you can't afford the usual German brands.
Why on earth would you want a German brand?? Way over priced and not as reliable... Kia way way better..
@A real bisexual petrol-head lol.. ok.. you freak... don't know what made you think I wasn't respecting others opinions? It's simply a fact that Kia are more reliable and better priced...
@A real bisexual petrol-head yeah of course buy what ever you want..
@A real bisexual petrol-head I critisize people's choice here but mostly kept it to myself and some online forums, my male partner does the same. But I live in US where 90% of people drive giant lifted pickups and gargantuan suvs just to commute to work from their suburban home and back and never use them for intended purpose or ever really need them.

The advantage over the cx5 or Tucson is that the car is narrower so its better for city use and easier to park

I did also a week ago. Best value for money
Do you get a bonus for every time you recommend the "Mazda cx5"
Hyundai/Kia do make plenty of great fun to drive cars. All throughout their range from the I10/Picanto to the I40/Optima. Haven driven many of them their are a number that I would love to drive. I do find the Kia's to be slightly better finish and trim when compared with their Hyundai counterparts. I don't know if anyone has noticed this too. I've reviewed the Ioniq on my channel too.
That's what I noticed too that's why I chose to buy sportage over Tucson last week, inside the sportage feels more premium and well built. I'm loving it. Well done KIA
Also change the car to sport mode to stiffen the stirring
I thought the exhaust pipes on the KIA Sportage were real, but this is what I now know that i did not know before.
There is a picture of Skoda Kamiq insted of Karoq ;)
Hi carwow. can you tell or show to us top ten best car suv 2018/2019?

I have the 1.6 diesel gt-line s and agree with the 5 points you mentioned but apart from that can't fault it and the kit you get for your money is excellent, excellent review though
before talking about rear view camera, you should make it clean. The view of the camera is really good. Parking the car is no hard work at all . If you know how to do it :))
Level 4 also gets a panoramic roof.
Please do a review of the new Honda CRV. It's very different from the previous one in terms of engines, body, etc. It would be really appreciated!
That rear side window looks weird.
They should've changed the shape, or add a 3rd window there to match the shape of the car
June 21, just got a great deal on one of these 1.6 turbo auto, there is a new updated model in the pipeline so the closer that gets good deals on these. It drives great and I can get my dog in the back to take her for a run in the fields or on the beach.

I just don’t get why some motoring writers mention “scratchy” surfaces! My Cerato Gt has this around the gear lever area and as yet I don’t bother scratching or touching this area as I’m driving, hmm. Still rate my vehicle as one of the best I’ve driven in terms of price, features and most importantly manufacturer backing unlike most European manufacturers. I really do think clients should think about after sell support, don’t whinge when your manufacturer has sold you a lemon!
I'm really looking forward to you guys reviewing the new Porsche Macan!
What about the 360 camera? No, problem to park in tight spacec what so ever when you use that. Great review!

The mild hybrid system is a humic when it says it gives the car an extra 16 HP because the car will actually weight more resulting the performance increase to be extremely minimal and doesn't actually do much
