honestly mate, you are one of the most useful youtube accounts for production. The tips you give are priceless and to the point as well. Really appreciate the hard work you put in to make serious production tips accessible to smaller producers like me and i look forward to every video you release. Big ups and a lotta love my guy!
That tip at the end about imagining the song into 4 main parts actually helped so much with transitions. I listened to some reference tracks and noticed they pretty much all did the same thing and it really opened my eyes. Thanks for the video!
the summary at the end was the money maker my dude - think of each main element in your track and what you can do from an automation standpoint for each to make those transitions dope... GOLD!
Dude you are what jumpstarted my production journey with house back in like 2019 and I've been a fan since. You've grown a ton and it's definitely showing in your video quality too. I think I can say this for a lot of your fans, but thanks for being so impactful and sharing your brilliant ideas
Great video man, the final tip is gold. I always try to imagine that my electronic productions are a live band jamming together. As one member starts to change their dynamics or groove moving up to a new section it cues everyone else (other band members or instruments) to do the same to get ready, as well as clue in the audience.
This guy is so inspiring and such an excellent teacher! I've heard some pretty cool tracks people made using LMMS and I've been at it myself for a while. The track kept going from good to bad to worse and finally to almost perfect. Mastering is a pain because every new sound you add takes up space in the stereo bandwidth. Certain frequencies can overaccumulate and lead to clipping and muddiness. I found what helps is EQ and adding slight attack to some instruments (too many playing at exactly the same time causes that 'muddy' sound). Thanks again for your amazing tutorials! 🙂
what a videos man, since yesterday i've seen some of your tutoriales and are priceless, thanks for your knowledge it's giving my tracks and mixes definitely into the next level, thanks brotha 🙏🏼
4:51 This! This is something I need to use more in my productions. In general, this is definitely one of the best transition tutorials I've watched so far.
Uber relevant and a solid, concise presentation - bought a couple of packs just to support these tutorials (and turns out they are fire, so... win/win)
Hey man, just wanted to say thanks It's easy to pick up the knowledge because of the way you explain it. I could watch other tutorials for hours and still wouldn't learn much. It's really good that you do this
this stuff is amazing! I feel like I can do decent 8bar loops, but it's really hard for me to make the rest of the song, that is arrangement, transitions, automation/energy, and fx. This is gold!
Transitions are always a problem for me. I read that Lane 8 dont release tracks with white noise risers and so on... Thanks for giving me some new ideas!
When shaping the reverb (of vocals and throws in particular, but it applies to any instrument), it's often better to put the shaping EQ BEFORE the reverb (known as the Abbey Road reverb trick). It makes the entirety of the reverb less dense while not eliminating the brilliant sheen of the reverb, and it makes your reverb able to be much louder without getting in the way or even sounding like it's there (until you take it away).
I've watched this video 4 times now to lock in the information. You're a true professional musician and a great instructor. Thank you for everything you do!
I’m not sure who will find this useful, but you can set logic to open the automation lane of a parameter you click when you have the automation editor open. Saves so much time messing about in the menus. Hope this helps!
Big Z, I first heard your "Runaway," "Life's a B*tch" remix when I was maybe ten years old. I am so nostalgic for the mashups you made back in the day, and it's so cool for me to see your youtube tutorials now and learn production from you. As a young kid venturing into new music realms for the first time, I really loved your music and mixes.
honestly great tips. I started making music doing trap beats as a young producer but recently I have been breaking out of that and doing other ganres. Transitions are such an important and underrated part of music production especially in the eyes of younger producers and beat makers. I will definitely start using some of these tips into my music! thanks!
I'm glad I watched this, I misinterpreted the title so I was surprised to see you building effects. Great reminder that sidechaining isn't just for kick drums. Good video even for other DAWs
press record (audio+midi) and perform your track out as many times as it takes. much better results. a bit of clean-up in post and you've something dynamic and more organic sounding. so you don't end up with those generic and predictable transitions. you're welcome.
I don't really understand what you mean. Performing the track out will result in audio format, no? How can you get a more dynamic sound or more organic?
@@eduardpopa3905 but if you have midi controllers, midi sequencers, midi fx machines etc, also recording their data can help replay your performance and finetune, re-arrange etc with the ability to retweak the sounds. While still recording the audio each time. Best of both worlds.
@@sCealt but how would you still keep recording when you tweak the sounds? It is hard for me to grasp what you are saying. You mean having Midi controllers etc. recordings play at the same time with the audio and just record them all? That would basically be the track itself. I do not get the benefit sorry. If you could explain again. Thanks.
@@eduardpopa3905 map your midi controller to parameters you want to tweak, like let’s say you want to add some life to your bass or synth stabs or whatever, then just record the automation live and then edit some bits if needed. more fun than drawing automations and also you get some surprising results you wouldn’t get otherwise. or you could get super frustrated because you just can’t get it right. one thing to keep in mind is, that there is no ”right”. there are no mistakes, just happy accidents, or something.

Do you mostly keep ear candies on the tonic or 3rds 5ths. Nice video definitely like seeing others go over things that can always have inspiration in others perspective.
You could also just automate the main vocal level to a send with both the delay and reverb and side chained compression on it. It works just as cleanly plus i add a spatial plug in to add even more space.
This is edited so unbelievably clearly and the quality of the knowledge given is genuinely great. This man is the real deal
Agreed. There were so many things in this tutorial that I just hadn't considered, and it was all conveyed masterfully.

I'd say it depends. some cheesy fx are there to be used for djs to easily fade out a track and mask the transition effectively
add the cheesy effects to these ideas as a subtle layer.
