- In part one of a two-part "Dulcimerica", Bing Futch teaches a crash course on playing the blues on mountain dulcimer. Part one focuses on pentatonic minor and pentatonic minor blues scales and basic song form with rhythm. All of this and more can be found in "Blues Method For Mountain Dulcimer 101" by Bing Futch, available from this link: bingfutch-com....

Sounds like a lot of people didn't think blues could be played on the dulcimer but it looks as if the dulcimer built for blues pretty well
Indeed! When you consider that the diddley bow only has one string and helped to develop the blues sound, the mountain dulcimer is well up to the task!
Still great stuff after 10yrs!
Thank you! I'll be doing a live online workshop on playing mountain dulcimer blues April 8th, 2020 on Crowdcast! www.crowdcast.io/e/learn-to-play-blues-on
@Welkinchild Glad to be of service - rock on!
Hey Bing, I've played guitar for about 40 years, but I've learned the dulcimer this year, and fell in love with it. Your dulcimer videos and Steven Seifert's have been such a great learning tool for me. You're a great player! I've always been a fan of the blues, and they sound awesome on the dulcimer. Keep up the great videos!
Jean Ritchie & McKinley Morganfield had a baby. His name was Bing Futch.

Play on, Bing. Blues are a good thing, for sure :)
One love, one heart!

@njane6507 I used to think it couldn't be done - glad there are a bunch of us out there now doing it and keeping it alive! Thanks for watching.
I play cbg, regular 6 string and some dulcimer, this is one of the best lessons for blues on UA-cam. Thanks and keep strumming.
o thats good
thank you!
Bing, I have found these two videos extremely helpful as an addendum to your Blues 101 book. I am watching them over and over and learn something new on each viewing. I hope you will add Blues Pt 3, Pt 4, etc. Thanks so much.
@64534231 yeah, it's been busy times at the studio - but I've got more coming. Thanks for tuning in!
Nice one Bing! This scale is sweet. The more I try moving it into different areas on my dulcimer the more pleased I am. Pretty versatile stuff you're showing us here.
This is fantastic!!!!!! Another great class!!!!! Thank you!!!!
@afghanwg Glad you liked it! There is a book in the works, different styles of blues. Maybe by Christmas? Thank you so much for watching.
