Thank you very much Simon for uploading this video. My FJR is a Gen 1, 2005. I finally found the ABS test connector just aft of my battery. But to identify the dummy cover I needed to see it in your video. I used a wire that had alligator clips on each end to jump the lt blue and black wires.
My issue was that I could not get a firm rear break pedal. I had to cycle the ABS unit. And it worked!
FYI, the same steps you demonstrated, also work by pushing the rear break pedal. At least on my Gen 1. Thanks very much for you help, and the entertainment your granddaughter provided.

thank you for this guide, mine is a 2010, the abs light is always on. I did the same steps and the pump is working. I repeated it several times and the light is still on with no error codes displayed at all. It did not even blink after jumping the wires for the test mode its just solid light.
do you have any Idea about this issue?

If you feel like redoing this, please use a hand-held so you can focus up really tight on the proper electrical junction (and not get blocked by the handlebar).

Hi Robert. You are quiet right ,a little hand held would have been great but my phone at the time couldn't do good enough video. Also taking the right hand bar off for that bit of filming would have been a good idea, Just didnt think of it at the time!

Thanks for responding. Between your video and Twowheelobsession's video I managed to get this done a few days ago.
You can't get that jumper in the U.S. anymore so I took two alligator clips and connected them with a piece of wire. To help others find the two posts you are jumping:
When the connection box is still on the post, it is the two left-most pins. Off the bike and with the internal blank removed it is the two pins on the "high" side of the plastic box. Best way is to look on the bike and make sure you are connecting the sky blue wire to the black and white wire.

Hi Simon I need your help to fix abs of my fz1 2013 model, there is no light or code for abs failure but it doesn't work, when I connected to jumper and switch on than it starts to show multiple abs codes on meter and when turned off all lights n codes are gone but abs remain same :-(

Hi Simon great video. Can you put a link to where you got the tool lead from. Thanks

Hi there. I got the patch lead from the U.K FJR owners club. www.fjrcatalogue.com/catalog/item/7379165/8270322.htm You have to be a member to buy from them (Well worth it for the parts catolalog alone). Alternativly it is a Yamaha service tool so should be available via a dealer. Hope that helps.

Hello there! My abs diagnostic trouble code is 11 12 15 16 24 25 33 41 53 54. I don't have any information about these faults. Can you help me see what problems? Thank you!

    • @simonhay-heddle3848
      @simonhay-heddle3848  4 роки тому

Hi there. You will find a full list of fault codes for all the systems in section 8 of the workshop manuel along with symptom and check point guide (ABS is 8-137 to 8-139). What I would do is clear the faults as I outlined in the video and check the battery voltage ( 53/54 is low voltage). Then ride the bike and see what faults if any reappear . A bad battery and/or poor earthing can cause all sorts of problems. Hope that helps.

Simon Hay-Heddle Hello there! Thank you for replying to me. I don't have a maintenance manual for your car. Is the fault-clearing step off if the fault clearing step is off?

@@欧阳李奇 You really need to get yourself a manual as ther are invaluable for doing this kind of work. The easiest/cheapest way to get one is as a search able PDF off Ebay. I got mine on disk for £10.

      Hi Tony
Just looked at the manual. An ABS 33 code can mean that the ABS motor is defective or power is not being supplied.
      Possiable causes are given as:
Low Battery voltage, ABS motor fuse, Wire haness fault (ABS circuit), Connection of the ABS ECU coupler, Hydraulic unit assembly.
      Hope that helps.
      Simon

@@simonhay-heddle3848 hi thanks for getting back, well it's some help, have just ordered a new relay , checked fuses, looked at wre harness , well tried to as best as can without taking tool try out and light went off, but now back on so will be having another look tomorrow. 2 dealers have both said doubt its unit as never heard of them going. So at a loss . Once again thanks
