It's crazy that they were flying those huge things with 8/9 inch props inside that place! Love to come back and see the old videos, carbon miniquads are great but I think there's still a charm and coolness to the Rotor Bones platform.
at the dawn of the miniquad-era I started to race my batbone tricopter and damaged it so hard, that i switched to a miniquad instead of rebuilding it. everytime I come back here, i think about rebuilding it as a V-Tail... that thing just looks monstrous in the air, can't get enough of it!
Guys Id just like to say that has been one of the best episodes so far. Mixing up locations, having fun with multirotor fpv, challenging each other and watching ideas develop. This episode has a fantastic message for all the Australian bureaucratics (CASA) who have made fpv illegal, PLEASE STOP being the fun police. The technology is here and there is no way to stop it. If an accident on a grand scale happens it will only be your fault for not adapting fast enough to the advancement in technology.
I'm a long time viewer of the show and I'd have to say, that was the MOST entertaining episode to date! Thank you for everything you guys are doing to promote our hobby. I'm building my second tri at the moment and would soon like to delve into FPV! Love the new Bat Bones frame!
One of the best episodes yet. Awesome footage. The scene over the smokestack was like the James Bond where they dropped the guy in wheelchair down. Also found myself ducking a few times going through the small openings. Good stuff!
So interesting to see how the sport-quads have changed the hobby. From improvements to flight-controller processing and stabilization, pushing people to run these gauntlets at break-neck speeds without a care in the world for crashing (for the people w/ strong frames)... I still come back to these older videos and enjoy the fun and wonder of the new-at-the-time designs and tech (gimble camera mounts, v-tail quad, etc)
One of the best videos you guys have done, combination of perspectives from the multi's, operators and tripod cams gave it a motion picture feel at times. And the hex is outstanding, would love to see build/config video for it with the gimbal.
I love the concept of a tri-copter, less complicated. The back tail servo tilt control, what keeps the KK2 control board from constantly compensating for that control? Is there a setting in the firmware for that? What RC channel to you have the back tilt control on?
Awesome work guys, fantastic location and heaps of fun. Def one of my favorite episodes. Love to hear more about the v-tail and how to set them up, I'd like to build one myself.
Loved this episode. Now, I need to decide which multi-rotor to start with. I would like to see more on camera gimbals! And I'm looking forward to seeing your new location.
EPICSODE! I wish I could have been there flying my Bat Bone along side you guys. I'm so jelly I can't stand it! I have been a little busy lately, but I will be making some minor changes to my Bat Bone V-tail, and posting updated photos on the site. Thanks again Chad!
Questions about your tri-copter: What lipo are you using? (V, xS/xP C-rating) ? What ESC are you using (xxAmps, etc) ?? What Motors are you using (kV, Power, prop, etc) ??? What flight time do you guys get out of it ???? Thanks for all the great videos
V-Tail kit is a MUST!! Can you possibly do an in-depth dive into it in detail as well? What motor sizes, props, ESCs were used? More importantly, how is the KK2 set up differently for this Tri-Quad Hybrid?
Awesome episode! I really enjoyed this one. This video makes me much more interested in tri and quad copters. I must admit I liked the V tail the best. That should be an option that can be purchased! I love seeing how David will take something to the next level! I would be great if you would provide a build list for each copter in the video on your website so people would know what parts and pieces you used beyond the basic kit.
The videos just keep getting better and better! Keep up the great work and amazing production. Could it be that this whole time the missing link to Flight Test was David? I think so.
amazing frame. Just received mine in the UK and it's awesome. One quick question as I can't find an answer do I need a counter rotating prop on the tail?????
Totally awesome!! Gunna have to get one one day. Add some LED's on a switch to see in dark places. It would be great fun and a test of skill to set up checkpoint races in a place like that. Thanks again for ensuring I'll stay addicted to this hobby
i love this style of fpv i built a quad finally and been working out the kinks while waiting on a fpv transmitter and camera i got those two in and tried fpv and failed because i couldn't convince my self to just watch the screen i kept looking up to the quad and back down but i climbe to the top of my roof and flew the quad out of sight in my yard and forced my self to watch the screen man its fun i was flying threw the woods in my back yard and under my truck so awesome
First, congrats on the new digs. It's awesome the show and business is growing. The bone is a really cool looking addition. The V-tail mod should definitely be a consideration as a kit. The flying was top notch. But video was at least 10 minutes too long. Keep it up guys.
If you guys ever release a complete kit with everything you need to build the bat bone tri, I would buy it instantly, but otherwise, because of the shipping cost and other things (like me knowing that I will forget a part) it isn't possible for me to get.... I would pay a premium for you guys to deal with it too. I know there are other people in the same boat as me!
Absolutely your best video yet guys. Great filming also from what look like a rock solid platform. It's just a shame that this is all going to end if the government get's it's way.
Can we get the specs on that AnyCopter Hex build, with the brushless gimbles? That was incredible. APM 2.5 I'm guessing? What were those $14 motors (and other parts) he mentioned?
I really want to get into FPV, specifically with your Tricopter or Bat bones. Can you publish a shopping list and quick guide to all the pieces needed? It would be so helpful for those of us that haven't tried this yet, an cant figure out all the pieces needed for FPV
David, very impressed with your Vtail quad. It looks amazing and performed fantastically. I really hope I can get one working on the ardupilot 2.5. Do you guys think it's possible? wanna give it a shot?
Love it! Thank you for all what you guy's do to add to this incredible hobby. I am curious to know if you do any post video stabilization editing to the GoPro footage? or is that raw footage from the cool battery/camera tray set up? I'm off to your store to load up on some gear now :-)
Hey guys. I've seen a few variations of v-tail quads around but I haven't heard an explanation of the benefits other than yaw control. If you guys continue with it, can you explain why it's worth the efficiency loss?
I love your work and videos! I recently bought the Bat Bone and will be arriving in the mail soon! Can you guys make a video on flashing the ESC, please?
Its pretty amazing that ya'll scratch built these. I think that you would really enjoy flying the DJI Phantom. I would love to see a review of the Phantom if possible.
pretty neat build cant go wrong with fatshark. youve inspired me to go a lil bit more urban with my videos. i Use an upraged phantom 2 with h3-2d zenmuse gimbal and gopro hero 3 black edition and the same exact goggles yall use.
on a quad you can have yaw by making opposite blades spin in the same direction and adjacent blades spin in opposite direction, then vary the speed of the blades to maintain alt and heading but you yaw. how do you yaw with a tricopter? since there is an uneven number of blades you will have at least one more spinning in one direction than the other, and you dont have opposites around the CoM keeping them at anything but the same speed would cause a tilt wouldn't it?
I'm guessing you guys are using all the same parts on this as the last tricopter build right? And for you future builds you guys should add a parts list in the description
that tail D: damn this all looks like fun. does it give much befit while flying, would a hex with 3 v tails be very stable but with better camera view?
I think that this single video has gotten hundreds of people into fpv multirotors. So classic!
I think you are definitely right!
It's crazy that they were flying those huge things with 8/9 inch props inside that place! Love to come back and see the old videos, carbon miniquads are great but I think there's still a charm and coolness to the Rotor Bones platform.

That V tail concept of David's is pure genius. I would encourage you to offer a mod kit for this design. Keep up the fantastic work and thanks.
One of the best videos you guys have done, combination of perspectives from the multi's, operators and tripod cams gave it a motion picture feel at times. And the hex is outstanding, would love to see build/config video for it with the gimbal.

SO happy to see the improved FT3D in the background! Hopefully that will be the next episode!
I know its an old episode but i love this one!!!!!!
I'm getting goosebumps man while you guys are flying that hex I love it guys!
I love how the dust was blown away by the thrust from the motors ... looks awesome ... :D
Easily one of the best channels on UA-cam! Keep it up guys!
That GoPro mount plate is really impressive. The image is really really smooth.
This is one of your best videos to date. Amazing footage and I love the scenery.
EPICSODE!
I wish I could have been there flying my Bat Bone along side you guys. I'm so jelly I can't stand it!
I have been a little busy lately, but I will be making some minor changes to my Bat Bone V-tail, and posting updated photos on the site. Thanks again Chad!
This is probably one of the most amazing videos I've seen from you guys. I play airsoft from time to time and Im gonna have some wet dreams tonight.
I saw somewhere a pdf of the plans for the frame somewhere that included the side peices
it would be so funny to see someone flying one of these today
What model are they using at 13:00 - 15:00 ? I love the tilt it has :)
Questions about your tri-copter:
What lipo are you using? (V, xS/xP C-rating) ?
What ESC are you using (xxAmps, etc) ??
What Motors are you using (kV, Power, prop, etc) ???
What flight time do you guys get out of it ????
Thanks for all the great videos
AWESOME! Skill flying like this in buildings looks crazy fun. Just one more reason I want to build a multi-rotor!
V-Tail kit is a MUST!!
Can you possibly do an in-depth dive into it in detail as well? What motor sizes, props, ESCs were used? More importantly, how is the KK2 set up differently for this Tri-Quad Hybrid?
Wow that was a Rush!!! I have a whole new level of respect for quad copters!
Maybe the coolest flight vid I've seen in my short time of watching quad etc. videos. You guys seem like a really cool bunch of educators :)
Holy crap, David's copter looks SO epic in the air
I loved this episode too man! Great job on the tri/quad guys!
Awesome episode! I really enjoyed this one. This video makes me much more interested in tri and quad copters. I must admit I liked the V tail the best. That should be an option that can be purchased! I love seeing how David will take something to the next level!

What I love about the V tail is it looks like a skydiver from above!
amazing frame. Just received mine in the UK and it's awesome. One quick question as I can't find an answer do I need a counter rotating prop on the tail?????
Surely one of your best episodes! Thanks for bringing us those awesome footages :D
A fan from France ;)
Amazing job guys! Hands down one of my favorite episodes!
Totally awesome!! Gunna have to get one one day. Add some LED's on a switch to see in dark places. It would be great fun and a test of skill to set up checkpoint races in a place like that. Thanks again for ensuring I'll stay addicted to this hobby
Great flying. Really liked this one. Please do a video on setting up that gimbal.
Those tilted booms are sick
What size battery are you guys using in the video for the Bat Bone?
You guys look like you have so much fun, love the longer episodes btw!
Guys this is freaking awesome! I love your videos (especially multirotors ones), great job! Cheers from Italy! :D
loved the video and all of the multicopters! for the hex, what controller board did you use for the brushless gimbal?
Is the pilot wearing a visor that shows only the view from the camera? Amazing!
i love this style of fpv i built a quad finally and been working out the kinks while waiting on a fpv transmitter and camera i got those two in and tried fpv and failed because i couldn't convince my self to just watch the screen i kept looking up to the quad and back down but i climbe to the top of my roof and flew the quad out of sight in my yard and forced my self to watch the screen man its fun i was flying threw the woods in my back yard and under my truck so awesome

What motors are those on your bat bone?
the quad looks so SICK I would totally make a futuristic looking body for it.
LOVE it =)
Flite test , you guys do great videos. Much appreciated.
Brilliant episode, that hex with gimbal is amazing. Twitching to buy my first multirotor + fpv.
I really like the v-tail version. I wonder though does the controller need to be set up differently than with a + or x version?
That place is so creepy, really brilliant flying and footage guys! Thanks :)
Please tell us what electronics where used in this video! Especially props and motors! Davids V Tail looked so awsome! :)
Do the glasses allow you to see from the point of view of the camera?
You guys should put the name of the pilot in the corner of the screen (like a Let's Play channel) so we can see whose footage it is!
Can y'all do a flight test of the v tail quad or can you direct me to where I would see it if it has already been done.
I really want to get into FPV, specifically with your Tricopter or Bat bones. Can you publish a shopping list and quick guide to all the pieces needed? It would be so helpful for those of us that haven't tried this yet, an cant figure out all the pieces needed for FPV
Is there a build video (instructions) for those of us who bought the bat bone combo?
David, very impressed with your Vtail quad. It looks amazing and performed fantastically. I really hope I can get one working on the ardupilot 2.5. Do you guys think it's possible? wanna give it a shot?

HUGE YES PLEASE to bringing us the Vtail Bat Bone!
cant find the bat bones on your web site really want one
can you guys have a vid of how to set all of that up? me and my buds do milsim airsoft and it would be awesome to use it for recon
Hi guys will you please do a video about the brushless gimbal
I am looking to get one but dont know what one to get.
Thanks and keep up the good work
YES!!! In stock. Ordered one. As for the suggested Parts list... can it carry a gopro and what kind of fight times getting with the suggested setup?
That was fun to watch. You guys should do something similar at night, with some high-beams on those multirotors.
Whats a Great FPV Set up For the Bat Bone looking to get into the FPV area that would have the fatsharks
I love your work and videos! I recently bought the Bat Bone and will be arriving in the mail soon! Can you guys make a video on flashing the ESC, please?
I would like to see an edf version, any chance this may happen?
Its pretty amazing that ya'll scratch built these. I think that you would really enjoy flying the DJI Phantom. I would love to see a review of the Phantom if possible.
Any chance this kit is going to be avaliable again?
I love the look of the quad version of this. would definitely buy that as a kit if you sold it :).
absolutely amazing episode!!!
make you want to flight in abandoned factories.
keep up the great job.
pretty neat build cant go wrong with fatshark. youve inspired me to go a lil bit more urban with my videos. i Use an upraged phantom 2 with h3-2d zenmuse gimbal and gopro hero 3 black edition and the same exact goggles yall use.
where are they in this vid
What motors were you guys using on the bat bones? Were they the Park300's or something else? Thanks!
on a quad you can have yaw by making opposite blades spin in the same direction and adjacent blades spin in opposite direction, then vary the speed of the blades to maintain alt and heading but you yaw. how do you yaw with a tricopter? since there is an uneven number of blades you will have at least one more spinning in one direction than the other, and you dont have opposites around the CoM keeping them at anything but the same speed would cause a tilt wouldn't it?
oh, do they do that with all tricopters?
I haven't seen it done any other way
I See you don't use the DT750 motor's any more? Which motors/props are you using and why did you switch?
Curious, did you guys use the RCT Martinez BGC also or was that an alexmos board?
You guys should get a couple Stringray 500's and do FPV racing at this location!
I'm really digging the batbone V design! Seems like the best of both worlds!
I'm guessing you guys are using all the same parts on this as the last tricopter build right? And for you future builds you guys should add a parts list in the description
I definitely would too!! What's the setup like on the controller?
This was awesome!!! You guys should make a lot more videos like this!
would a tri copter be a good first multicopter or would a quad be better?
Great episode! really enjoyed watching that. Nice flying inside the building. Do you have any plans to ship the kits to dealers abroad?
great design david keep up that good ability so you can make more AWESOME designs
best flitetest episode ever! please do more like this! :)
Do you make kits of the hex? I would love to look into one of those.
WOW You guys are certifiably CRAZY. Best video ever. Ten thumbs UP.
Rick
I would definitely pick up the quad frame if it was available!
What type of NTM motors are that on those tricopters? Do you guys fly on 3cell or 4? Thank you.
that tail D: damn this all looks like fun. does it give much befit while flying, would a hex with 3 v tails be very stable but with better camera view?
Curious what gimbal controller you used, and how hard it was to set up
How would a V-tail perform if both tails had the tilt rotor system?
Great footage. When do yu plan do push the hexa out?
