I absolutly agree with you. For me, Katun is really better than Ispeed and i was dissapointed like you because of the restraints. I Can't understand why people like this coaster as much. I hope that the park with change trains with lap bars, he just destroy your experience on the ride, it is very unfortunate.
ISpeed really isn't "meh" to be honest. It's packed to the brim with great, intense moments, but those old restraints absolutely kill the experience for those who aren't use to them. I personally wish they were gone since this coaster deserves some love and praise.
@@nugget_music unfortunately for me restraints are a major make-it-or-break-it aspect of rides. This is simply due to the fact that the head being usually brings out motion sickness and can really ruin the ride experience. Maverick has no over the head restraints and is way more intense then Rougarou but is a lot smoother despite its transitions due to the restraints.
There is this trick I found that in a way makes the pain of the hard restraints go away. Essentially you put your hands in between your chest and the restraint. Your hand than works as a shock upbsorber and this keeps your body from bumping into them. It actually works very well
I actually really like iSpeed. I never had issues with its restraints, but maybe it's also because before that I had almost only ridden Gardaland's Vekoma Corkscrew (which got new restraints the very same year iSpeed opened) and SLC (urgh...), so I almost never find restraints "uncomfortable" (the fact I stopped riding SLCs probably helps 😂)
SLCs... I skipped them in gardaland, walibi holland, walibi Belgium and movie park. And i gotta say it feels good when i go outside the park with my head still on my body
Personally the restraints on iSpeed didn't bother me, and it's tied #1 with Expedition GeForce for my fav steel . But I do hope they get replaced with lapbars
Completely disagree, one of the best coasters not just in Europe but on the planet. Restraints dont bother me and those inline twists are two of the most intense moments of any coaster. Plus the ridiculous ejector pop after the top hat.
Reelfishing I agree. It‘s still my favorite in europe and ranks pretty high after ridibg 175 coasters in the US. Of course it would be better with better restraints but fortunately they didn‘t really bother me. Same reason I liked Kingda Ka better than TTD: the restraints didn‘t really bother me and the launch is better imho, also I do like thr hill as a little bonus. I‘m sorry for everyone who can‘t really enjoy those but I guess it partly depends on body type, height and such...
Seriously, I can't agree enough with this! Katun absolutely nails what a B&M Invert (and most extreme coasters) should be. Intense, long, and with plenty of fast / whippy transitions. I personally think this coaster is the 2nd best invert I've ridden with Montu at #1, Black Mamba at #3, and Afterburn at #4.* *Side Note: I've not ridden Nemesis, Aplengiest, Banshee, or Raptor.
I don't think I'd feel safe riding a ride like this or Maverick with just a lap bar. Honestly, it's because of the harnesses that I will ride these type of rides. My one exception, however, is riding Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point. I was truly surprised that I didn't feel like I was going to fall out of my seat with just a leg restraint.
This sounds exactly like what I thought of Maverick before it got its soft restraints. I thought it was a headbanger and while I loved the layout, I thought it was horribly overrated and uncomfortable. The minute it got soft restraints it rocketed into my top 10.
Can we at least agree that iSpeed is a stupid name for a roller coaster. It seems like it was designed by Steve Jobs with him realizing only a few minutes before the deadline that he hadn't given the coaster a name yet.
When it opened (2009) "I-something" sounded almost exotic as not that many people had an iPhone or something like that. I guess for English-speaking people that name might sound silly, but for Italians, also given the "theme", it's ok. Fun fact: Divertical was almost named iDive: Mirabilandia made a poll to choose a name. The possible names were Divertical, iDive, Apocalisse (Apocalypse)
Hello Taylor, I appreciate your work, I enjoy your videos. I agree with the score at this coaster cause of restraints. Please talk more about capacity, theming, que lines and so on. Just one thing I dont like to listen to you talking about restraints half of the video. This is not the first time. Thats why I had to write this. 20-30 seconds is enough for the restraints from my point of view. Just because not all of us cares that much of it as you do. Have an awesome day :)
Just look at it this way- if I'm talking about it for a while, its probably because it stood out to me. I didn't talk about the queue line because its literally just a cattle pen. No theming. Nothing to talk about. Only theming is in the plaza really, which you guys could see plenty of in this video.
Coaster Studios. Yes, you are right. It is your expression of your experience. I have no right to give you an advice. I just made a wish. If your experiences are mostly about restraints then..Ok :)
It's what happens when you try to slow down footage that wasn't shot at a high framerate. You can enable a feature called optical flow that attempts to fill in the missing frames, and it always looks shite. This is why you should always shoot B roll at 120fps in case you want to slow it down later
wot, the first inversion is by far superior than the second inversion, its easily the most insane and intense part of the ride. I also had a problem with the restraints, but not the otsr, the tightness of the lap bars, which maverick has too, i disliked on both rides. No airtime. :(
Update from Mid April 23: Still unchanged with the horrible restraints, I liked Katun a lot more and honestly I have no reason to come back to Mirabilandia anytime soon...
I am planning a trip to the Virginia area this summer and am hitting King’s dominion, how long do you think it would take to get the credits there and ride twisted timbers/i305 a couple times
You do know this is not maverick right. You keep comparing it to maverick but it's a different coaster, yes its made by the same company but I don't think having the same expectations as another ride is the right way to judge a coaster. This is just my opinion and yes I do like your videos but idk to me rollercoasters are all different unless they are replicas and I think they all have their positives and negatives. But also I don't like to judge coasters, especially when riding them I just enjoy them for what they are.
@@CoasterStudios My worst coaster is Flashback at Great Escape. It got me nauseous. To me, going through the cobra roll backwards was like getting hit with a steamroller.
On the flip side of that, the soft restraints on Railblazer are way too tight and it made me cringe through airtime moments. I rode the ride three times in the back, front, and middle and nowhere was safe from the shoulder pain.
Goes to show cant judge a POV. Ispeed always looked better then Maverick to me, the layout looks better. Better flow and while the 2nd launch is cool it does kinda breakmomentum. But the pov doesn't convey how much trims can kill a ride and I didn't know there were OTSRs...those intamin ones really are crap
Nothing, I think. It just sounded "exotic" in Italy in 2009 I guess (about the time some popular Apple I-products came out and not everyone had an iPhone back then)
Ispeed was also one of my biggest disappointments sadly. Not only are the restraints mediocre, but I found the top hat, the launch and that inline twist to be the only standout moments. Don’t get me wrong, that top hat is fantastic, but I expect more from a coaster this short. Also, don’t get me started on this thing’s capacity. Absolutely awful. Obviously it’s poor manners to compare them to a B&M but Katun had a 10 min queue max while this thing had over an hour.
Ispeed would be better if it had different restraints...but to be honest...they didn t bother me first 4-5 times i rode it...only after 7-8 times i started to notice. Rmc s have those horrible leg restraints so what
Aww I like this ride a lot I thought it was pretty good and fun! Kind of cool to ride this and maverick in the same year so I got to compare them! Someone please repaint this ugh the track is so faded.
The name of the ride sounds like an episode of iCarly where the plot revolves around someone getting a speeding ticket.
Ha!
Lol
Or a car or something from apple
SO TRUE
I'm surprised Apple hasn't sued them yet lol
Its amazing that they havent decided to replace the restraints yet
yup
Honestly idc
ispeed has been my first serious roller coaster, so it has always a place in my heart

You can also ride Intamin launch coasters with the hard restraints, they are Rita at alton towers and Stealth at Thorpe Park

Oof that sucks. The restraints on kah didn’t bother me that much though I can definitely see why people prefer lap bars or soft restraints.
