    Something to note: Taiga replaced a water ride called Vonktaputpous, which was one of only two liquid coasters made by Premier Rides (the other being Buzzsaw Falls (now Powder Keg) at Silver Dollar City). The liquid coaster was notoriously problematic because it used infrared sensors instead of normal sensors for a water ride.

      If i recall correctly, Vonkaputous was at the time it opened the most expensive coaster in the park. An absolute ripoff considering it was horribly unreliable, expensive to run, and with the cold Finnish climate there weren't many days people wanted to get soaked anyways. The layout was very bad too and only relied on the novelty of the splashdown.
      It did have a pretty iconic anti rollback clonk when it entered the lifthill though.

    • @paaklapi
      @paaklapi Рік тому +7

      What symbolised Vonkaputous on top of all the issues it had was its location. The ride was located in the farthest corner of the park, and the area became a bit of a dead spot as Vonkaputous' popularity waned dramatically in its last few years. This, I suspect, was largely due to the fact that the ride experience was incredibly dull; the roller coaster elements weren't thrilling whatsoever, and the park's rapids ride Hurjakuru did the soaks better.
      The poor ride experience coupled with the technical difficulties made Vonkaputous unappealing to most guests. While Vonkaputous must have had its fans (as all bad rides do), you'd be hard pressed to find even a considerable minority who lamented Vonkaputous' exit at Taiga's expense. Simply put, the park is objectively far better off now.

      @@oxaile4021I can tell you people went on Vonkaputous in almost any weather, thought they sold those use once rain jackets near it and if it was pretty or very cold, people definetly didn't want to get soaked, but stil wanted to go on that ride:D There was always quite a long line (relative to lines on other rides in Linnanmäki) on Vonkaputous. Also I'm not 100% sure, but I think you are correct that it used to be the most expensive coaster in Linnamäki before Taiga. Definetly was the most expensive ride to operate:D

    • @-AxisA-
      @-AxisA- 7 місяців тому

      @@paaklapiYou definetly got more soaked on vokaputous (except on the third row) than Hurjakuru most rides.

    My favourite coaster. I don't know why, but I just love Intamin launch coasters. Taiga and Taron are my favourite coasters ever. So much fun, I agree that Taiga is more intense, I had to take a break after my second ride in a row. But it was super fun.

      It felt like here in Europe it got popular really fast with people praising it being in Europe's top 5 easily, but it seemed like most US channels really slept on that one. I guess it's the location, because otherwise this was pretty much what people have dreamed of with all these RMC like elements on an Intamin multi launch.

    I rode taiga in 2019. It was amazing, but I prefer taron. Taiga has incredible hangtime, and the stall and zero g winder are the best moments on the ride. However, I found taron to have better airtime and more snappy transitions. Also the launch is way more intense. And of course, the theming. The pacing is great on both, they feel really fast and twisted. Taiga is still great, I consider its layout more varied than taron’s, but overall I think taron is the better ride, which seems quite unpopular 😅
    Pd: also night rides on taron seem to have a major impact

      Taron has really great theming, a great layout and great sound effects, for example at the launch, but what makes the coaster a little worse is the not so good q-line, a ride without inversions and the fact that the roller coaster is simply outdated.

    Taiga is the best rollercoaster at Linnanmäki! (sorry Vuoristorata, even though you are the "original old timer" that will always have a special place in my heart, Taiga is top notch.) The initial launch is exceptional, and the second launch catches you by surprise. It's also long enough for you not to think "oh, it's over already?". I had involuntary tears in my eyes from the sheer speed by the end.

    6:40 Linnanmäki is my home park and I got to say I've never considered the Immelmann the "signature element" of Taiga. Rather the Zero-G stall or the top hat is, because they're the most noticable elements. Also if you consider this rather an inverted top hat, what are the immelmanns on Yukon Striker and Valrvan, which are both taller than the highest point on Taiga?:D Imo that is an immelmann, not an inverted top hat.
