Dude you should have took that basket out to file them down. You'll fill the bottom of the motor with aluminum shavings. Glad you changed the oil after you did that. I Recommend Amsoil dirt 10w40 and repack the silencer lol. Those 125s are loud as hell when that packing wears out
You filled the whole clutch basket with metal shavings. I hope you got em out..

After googling and youtube this was the only thing I can find that explained my issue clearly, bike wouldn't down shift for me on occasion and yesterday it almost sent me into the street when i started in 1st. Clutch was pulled in ALL the way. Havent took the bike apart yet but im positive this is the issue. Won't even roll in 1st w/ clutch atm. Gonna order some new parts, bikes at 35k, hopefully i can get another 35k.

Ur having all the same exact problems as my atv. I’ve replaced the stator and the bolts were stripped, so I had to order specialty replacement bolt set, and my clutch basket is grooved and the rod isn’t pushing the basket. I’ve been through the carb so many times and it finally works perfect, and then the clutch messed up. I figured it was this issue so that’s why I was looking. Good video for reassuring my thoughts
You probably shouldn’t be grinding anything inside the motor that puts metal shavings into your engine normally you take the basket out and do this

U should have taken basket out an do that easy with impact gun ur basket looks ruff i have yz125 2003 an apex head an lectron carb its dangerous fast so much fun ur bike sounds good
I had this same problem with my cr85 it was sitting for 8 months cause it needed a new top end all I did was change the oil and started on a stand and went through all the gears 1-6 and it engages now.
I have the same problem with my cr85 and I can’t get this clutch to engage for nothing
@@paytongallagher9821 I think you just need to ride it for a bit and go shift through all the gears. Has it been sitting for a while?

I’ve had hundreds of bikes and when you pull in the clutch with the bike in gear it does not roll free.
johnsn10 I’ve also had handful of bikes and multiple CR 125s every single bike rolled with the clutch in while in gear. But yes I’ve heard on occasion race bikes don’t like to roll with clutch in. This bike on the other hand definitely had a problem with the clutch.
I’m guessing out of those 100 of bikes were not a cr 125.. most bikes move freely

Just bought a kx85 and I put it in gear with engine off and tried rolling it and I had the clutch in and wouldn’t roll
My 2001 yamaha yz426f is doin the same thing

@@jokerrr14 I took my clutch plates out cleaned em and it has been working since the plates were sticking maybe give that a shot?!
When I let the clutch out (dirt bike) there is a now a moment

Same thing happens to me, my clutch cable finally snapped so I replaced it (with the correct cable and everything) now the clutch won’t even engage and I dunno what to do
I have a 2004 kx250f will full motor rebuild and it does the same thing I have to have to clutch lever pulled all the way in and rev the piss out the bike just to get moving if u figured it out let me know my clutch basket is shot have deep groves and I ordered a pro x clutch basket and let's hope that fixes it

WTF xD that bike was fine... Should have kept it. Clutch plates were just a little stuck from bike sitting, mine does the same but riiiiips.
I need help. I put my bike in gear. Let go of the lever and it will just sit. Doesnt stall and doesn’t move. I put it in 5th gear and it just sits?
1st sounds dumb but make sure your chain is on properly, 2nd what’s the front sprocket looking like? Is it all chewed up? That would cause it to just spin when the bike is in gear. I would also take clutch cover off and make sure is engaging when you pull the lever in. If that checks out it’s a deeper problem like clutch plates shot or a transmission problem.
@@RidingWiithJacob my chain and sprockets look decent. I can feel it try to engage. But it pushes a little them free coasts
your oil is probably the main problem you need to change your oil out for a clutch oil that is meant for that bike it may be more expensive than using other oils but your clutch wont do that again

i need some help i bought a dirt bike and the clutch doesnt work but the bike can change gears while riding ithe bike jumpps when i put it in first gear then it shuts off.

No, you either have the same problem as me (clutch not engaging) could be as little as adjusting the clutch cable to replacing the clutch arm or basket.

I got a 94 kx80 does the same .
My bike does the complete opposite. The clutch lever engages but it won’t change gears it is stuck in neutral. Anyone know how to fix it?

Does it actually click through the gears or just nothing when gear lever is pushed down or up
Behind the clutch basket you will find your shaft that hold your shifting gear ⚙️ that’s is what needs to be replaced
The button goes under the basket
Don't file get a new clutch basket
That is calipers not a micrometer
