    Outstanding, simple, straight-forward explanation of a very complex system. The "hypothetical connect" later split into two pieces, and then combined with other similar pieces really takes all the confusion out of how the system works.

      Go for it! Honestly the clutch is one of the easier things to do, even though it might not seem that way to a beginner. Get a proper workshop manual for your bike and it will make it even easier. Keep in mind that there is probably oil there, so if you're gonna work on your clutch drain the oil first. Some bikes have a dry clutch system, but most use oil with the clutch.

    • @j.thomas7128
      @j.thomas7128 3 роки тому +3

      @@muhanishchouhan9501 Engine Braking. There is no additional or abnormal clutch wear or destruction once the crankshaft and input shaft of the gearbox is matched or locked together. The "braking" is the resistance of engine compression not wear of the clutch. If you simply roll off the throttle without downshifting, you are experiencing engine braking; and no additional clutch wear. If you downshift to accentuate the the braking, then there is some additional wear if you don't "rev match" as you engage or operate the clutch. But again, that wear is nil once the shafts are locked together (clutch fully released). Cheers!

    Excellent detail on the clutch pack, and function of plates.The only confusion I get is from discussing clutch operation with other riders/mechanics. Most people (I have found) say, "clutch in" when they describe pulling in the clutch lever, towards them. But you see in the animation that the clutch plates go 'out', away from the engine/rider. Some say it/describe it the reverse. I usually try to concentrate on the plates and describe them as 'released', or as 'engaged'. It still leads to confusion because of people's habits. In and Out are relative terms.

    • @munchie9279
      @munchie9279 6 місяців тому

      Yeah, well, clutch in is the correct terminology as it refers to the lever itself, and not with the clutch pads, which many people have no idea how they function, so it would be too confusing to refer to engaging the clutch as pulling it out. Even though it's scientifically correct. But yes. Engaging the clutch is also applicable. I guess it's probably the better term, as it's really engaging the clutch to perform it's primary function.
      English is fucking stupid and never should have been combined with engineering.

    I've replaced clutches on cars when I was younger, back when cars could be serviced by mere mortals, with hand tools. But I always wondered about bike clutches, specifically the actuator arm. This is a GREAT vid, with VERY well-realized animation and calm, clear narration. Thank you for sharing. I saw the thumb for the animation of how a bike transmission works. Guess wha tI'm going to watch next? Thanks again!

    I will use this to teach new riders! Thank you so much. I find understanding how a motorcycle works to be very useful in learning how to ride

    That's the best explanation on clutch operation I've ever seen.
