No gym partner, no talking to anyone else at the gym but I take my time between sets. Being in my own world with my music at the gym is very therapeutic. I’m not in a rush but at the same time I’m not trying to compete

Even in sprint training one needs optimal rest for recovery between sets depending on the race can be as high as 8 minutes. Otherwise, insufficient recovery will impact the quality of the sprint comprising performance .
in my case i have very limited time when im at the gym (work, kids, etc..) so i usually get through everything in 45 mins or so. never more than an hour. people just be wasting time...and then when the machine they want is taken they get all frazzled and sit and wait. when i go to gym i have a pre planned spread of everything im gonna do and if the machine is taken i simply move on to the next exercise and come back after to see if its open. sometimes ill even stay close by and tell the person on the machine that i would like to hop on when theyre done and 9/10 will actually come get me when they finish. have a plan and execute it as quickly as possible in the gym.

IMO measuring sets in length of time rather than reps fuels more growth i.e. 15sec, 20sec, 30sec, ext. Doesn't quite work very well with heavy weight but with light to moderate weight works well.
The last sentence he says is basically it right there. "Find what works and do it repetitively"

Your set is suppose to take 30-60 seconds. If you go by time under tension. But that's constant motions. Even if it's slow motion.

@@ResplendentRaider tut has been proven that it doesn’t equal more growth to a rep that is of average speed,stimulating the muscle is what triggers growth whether you do it through more sets more reps faster reps slower reps more weight it doesn’t matter it’s just 1 component

Dude people hate my pace, that is if anyone trains with me which is rare. What get's them is the pace at which i push out my reps, example yesterday was an all dumbbell chest day just to change shit up. The reps are slow and purposeful with a nice pause at the bottom of the movement, done, walk straight to declines and rinse and repeat, walk straight to incline same thing. The only rest I am getting is to take a sip and walk to the other bench I have setup or adjust the one I'm on and keep going.

Depending on how much weight your lifting it could take all different amounts of time. I mean are we 1 rep maxing doing a 5x5 or are we doing cardio with weights. Lol

More often than not, I complete 2-3sets during the time the person next to me rests, and they complete 8-12reps while I’m still on my 4th rep. And those are the people grunting and acting as if they’re the hardest worker in the gym but they always look like 💩
NGL, to this day I still can't fathom how people could join a gym with whatever goals they have in mind and have a relaxed state about it. You don't have to kill yourself, but shit dude, you're on call. Get to business. Personally, for me I'm not there to lift weights or work out. I'm there to train for the goal that was set.

I see people all the time on the phone. Its like 6am, who the fuck got time for that at the gym? Lol. Once my phone enters my bag, it doesn’t come back out until I’m walking out, or I’m changing what I’m listening to. And as far as sets, I see way too many lifting like its and aerobic exercise. Like damn slow down lol. I like to have my sets last anywhere between 30-45 sec with moderate to heavy weight, and 90-120 sec rest time.
Yep, its depressing seeing how part of gym bro culture has devolved into outfit checks, instagram posts, videos and literally anything else they can do instead of just fkn working out.
