I'll take the MG 4 Excite over BYD Dolphin (basic, short range). Fun fact is the MG 4 Excite has the same rear multi-link suspension as.... the Essence Long Range 77. Why should I have the BYD Dolphin if I can have the MG 4 that already have rear independent suspension?! Torsion beam rear can never match independent suspensions for driving and comfort.
Hi, I'm due to have my MG4 SE (base model) in the UK end of October, anyone knows if it is like the NZ base model (Excite I believe) in having: 1. Rear camera. 2. Rear wipers. 3. Interior grab handles. As they weren't in the 2023 base model, not sure if they added it in the 2024 models?
I test drove a Long Range 77 which should be equivalent to one of your Trophy. It's definitely a great car to drive. I don't believe your SE or our Excite 51 is a slouch thanks to the same rear suspension used as "expensive" models. Rear camera, I believe it should be better than any ZS EV or face lift ZS EV Excite. Rear wipers, I'm not too sure Interior grab handles, feels better in MG 4 than ZS EV. In any case, you should be very happy with your MG4 SE. Have fun!
Hey Richard...for future reviews you may want a location with more light for your intro as your face was in darkness alot or get a small let light to put on your camera to light you up on your piece to camera. There is a big hole in the 'engine bay' if you remove that piece of plastic where there could be a decent 3rd party frunk go in, I investigated it at FCL Sydney. Any idea if it's ceramic tint? Do prefer the looks of it exterior wise over the Dolphin or the Ora Funky Cat.
I noticed that too. In the UK we can get white or blue as no cost colours and then we pay varying amounts for the different colours with the orange being the most expensive (and only available for the top of the range trophy model).

I'd say it's the best buy for a low price new EVs. The cheapest Excite 51 has the same rear multi-link suspension as the Long Range 77. BYD Dolphin on the other hand, you either spend more for a top model or suck it up and bear with its rear torsion beam. It's also no brainier than simply go for Essence 64 over Excite 64. I'd say either go for Essence 64 or if you're budget is rather tight, the Excite 51 is no slouch.
Personally I don't see the point gettting a Long Range 77 unless you really need that range and desire to have that power. The Essence 64 is the sweet spot or otherwise Excite 51. Otherwise there will be a XPower coming which supercar performance but that yet to compare with a equivalent Tesla.
Update: just got my Tesla recently , everything runs well and I really love it. One issue need mention is that model 3 is sedan and rear view visibility is poorer compared with that a hatchback. I guess MG4 won’t have the problem . I may consider MG4 for my other electric car.

This car is best in class imo, nothing at it's price point compares.
It’s very good. If you check spec and space it is closer to the Dolphin than people think. But hard to argue it is not a good product.

I believe with less than a day to turn around the video, the colour grading was a little rushed!

In AU white is free, everything else is $750 AUD from memory.

Well at a starting model it is...
A nice car. But the 77kwh model is priced very close to model 3 base model , which has similar range. A hard decision for me to not go for Tesla….
That is 17kW extra battery in a lighter car, so a big difference in range. Plus more than double the warranty. Each to their own!
