To correct about job unlocking, you are required to progress in the main story up to the lvl20 MSQ Sylph Management. I learned this as I was enjoying the xbox beta finally and was lvl30 trying to unlock summoner lol
To add to it, you can unlock other jobs once you reach and finish the level 10 job quest of the first job you choose. However to unlock the ability to upgrade those jobs to main jobs, such as gladiator to paladin. You need to do Sylph management. I never even thought about this part, so thanks for throwing it in there!!

Haha this was a pretty good tutorial, but the only thing you didn't cover, assuming that people are completely fresh to this type of game, is just the basic combat system. All the other info you said was also really good, but I would be completely lost if I never played a game like this and jumped in to battle
The reason I never covered it was because of how much of a slow burn ability to levelling ratio is. So the combat teaches itself luckily. Instead I decided to make guides specifically for dpsing, tanking and healing. But I agree it can be disorientating for someone who's never played tab targeting before.
Very informative and short :) Though I think as a new player the only advide you need is, focus down MSQ, ignore the normal side quests (unless you're into side stories and lore, or if they have special rewards like emotes), and do the blue quests. Thats pretty much all. Roulettes are nice to know but with the latest leveling update, you get so much XP from MSQ, you can level up to three jobs simultanously without any additional content. Also, you forgot to mention that with the Novice Hall trials, you get very good starter gear for that role, which keeps you covered to lvl 35 or so :)
Just got complete edition for 30 bucks today on ps5. It’s a learning curve for sure. Adjusting to the controls for it and trying to just learn the game. But enjoying it so far and might stream on my channel a bit.
It's incredibly fun, and the learning curve can be steep, but you'll realise after a few play sessions that, that learning curve comes with an elevator, and you'll learn really quickly
@@Mohawk_Productions Unfortunatly I don't use the controller, and the last time I even looked at the layout was backed when I started a few years ago. However I think it goes over that during the tutorials?

@@DyingLegacy the only downside is not available for Xbox platforms, but I’m sure they’ll come to an agreement, the whole reason I bought a PC lol 😂 my friend recommended to me, I’m a huge Nerd for games like bless unleashed/ Black Desert sort of games, never thought of checking out ff until my friend told me about it. But the content is huge, I spent 40hr in most of the mmorpg but this game, I’m in 67hr gameplay, and that’s a lot of hours
Heya I’m thinking of picking this up today I’m torn between this and BDO, I rlly prefer the social aspect in this game but vastly prefer the combat on bdo do u have any experience with black desert?
I have a bit of experience with bdo, I just couldn't get into it. Combats pretty good, but it's an action mmo, and ffxiv is a tab target mmo. So they are vastly different, even the over all play tyle is different. There is a free trial, that you can give a try, lets you play the base game and first expansion for free, here's even a guide on it ua-cam.com/video/LS04SxXm60I/v-deo.html At least that way you won't spend money and can decide yourself. You can upgrade from the free trial aswell, so your time investment won't be wasted
I didn’t even know FF had an MMO lol 😆 well I’ll give the trial a try later today! Diablo 4 is too scary for me and Genshin and star rail does need to be resting from time to time and I do want to begin a FF game …
All party finder dungeons and content are level synced, It's as easy to find a party for low level dungeons as it is higher level dungeons, you will never have an issue getting dungeons
Do you mean sub? You are the only one that can decide if it's worth it or not, based on how much you have enjoyed so far, and if you want to experience the other expansions
The only other mmo I've played was pso2 and a little bit of pso2ng.(i only played the story mode and i took a break last year, I'll get back into it next year) so I'm still pretty new with mmo's, so i have a few questions. Can you play this game mostly solo. It's a mmo, so i know raid battles and endgame content will most likely need to be co-op. But I'm just planning on playing the main story for the most part.
To progress in the game at all, you have to do the Main Story, there are portions of the game that require you to do dungeons as part of that story, outside of those it's just solo
@@DyingLegacy cool, that sounds good. Im super shy and introverted so im not good with communication and teaming up with other's. But I'll look up thing's about dungeons or bosses if i have to, so I won't be a hindrance to others if i have to team up. @@hitsumaru100All starting jobs start off slow, as for complicated, they're as complicated as each other. But I wouldn't worry about that, just go with what looks cool, and when you learn the game a bit more you'll know yourself which class you'll prefer and enjoy
I personally don't think they're worth it, especially from the begining. ARR is slow, but it's not impassable, plus the wealth of content and such that you'd miss.

Me and a friend are starting tomorrow(downloading it atm). Should we just do everything on our own til lvl 50 or should we try and start in the same city and follow each other around or would that just be annoying?
Only you and your friend can decide if it's annoying or not, ye can definitely follow each other around. The msq itself isn't coop friendly with instancing and stuff. But ye can still follow each other around
Might be a stupid question, but should one get the expansions right away like in WOW? Or should one enjoy the game without the expansions or would I feel restricted?@@DyingLegacy
@BamseSwe you won't be restricted, you already get heavensward for free, and stormblood will be free soon too. Wait till you're already in heavensward, you won't get any benefits from the expansions before arriving there other than being able to unlock the expansion jobs

Sometimes the game throws too much information at you all at once at _the_ _worst_ time. I tried my very first party quest last night and all of a sudden there are a million popups on-screen and the other players are expecting me to pull.
Wait, which quest? In my own experience I thought there was too little in info department, and it stopped telling you anything the moment you left your starter city? Is there something that I might have repressed sub consciously 😅😂
@@DyingLegacy Oh man, I forgot what it was called exactly, it was a 4 person Guildleve that I got a ways out of Ul'dah. It was my first time in any sort of party and I was absolutely bombarded with info that I couldn't read because there was something to be done immediately. My options were to leave the pop-ups on-screen to read after and let them obstruct my view, or close them without reading. So, instead of letting the game teach me, I'm now watching videos while servers are down. I'm just kind of nit-picking though. I spent several years doing progression raiding in WoW _a_ _long_ time ago so it's not like I'm completely lost.
@@PowerSynopsis Oh guildleves, The info at the beginning is kinda redundant, you just walk and two tap the mobs and boss, but I completely understand where you are coming from😅
@@DyingLegacy Yeah, the actual quest was a cakewalk and I'm sure I didn't miss out too much by clicking-off the pop-ups, it just kinda made me go " _whoa_ " From what I can tell so far about the game it seems like it's going to be much more enjoyable than the time I spent in WoW. The community seems WAY less toxic and I keep hearing about how amazing the story is. The story is the entire reason I'm even daring to dip my toes back into a time-sink like an MMO. It *better* be good! I do love Final Fantasy though, so I have high hopes.
Hey, I just brought the game and had the same issue. Recommend you search ffxiv ui setting on yt. Helps clear unnecessary pop ups, help guides, etc. Enjoy✌🏿
There is something about this game which keeps me away from it.. i tried it 3 times tho but every time i'm bored after 2 a 3 days of playing.. 1 of the issues is the races.. it's either an emo fuckboy dude or a bunny girl.. mmos supposed to have big ass gladiators and orcs or ogres as races..that's what wow does right. ( the only thing wow does right )
Wow is based upon Fantasy and DND, while Final Fantasy... is based on Final Fantasy, so it Races and classes from the games and media. But if that's not your thing, then there's real reason to keep trying to go back to it. But ARR is difficult to play in general, as it's a rework of a failed game. Heavenward is where it actual becomes incredibly enjoyable... But yeah, you still need a good couple of hours before getting there. So that's understandable.
@@DyingLegacy there were alot of things i really like about ffxiv. Biggest thing i like is u can be everything in 1 class. Instead of wow where u have to create 10000 alts.. which is the most idiotic thing i've ever seen in a game.
@@brianligtenbarg1991 To be fair, the large majority of games require you to create an alt to play as a certain class. In fact 99% of them do... But hell yeah being every job is why I play FFXIV 😂

I'd hope my voice is alright, It wouldn't make the videos very watchable 😂 I know the feeling my own ADHD makes me more of a lister than watcher too!
I did actually forget about the gear from the novice hall 😂
@@DyingLegacy But... but... but it looks *cool* XD I mean, for low level stuff it really looks quite decent :)
@@markup6394 I can't disagree, as some of it's sitting in my glamour chest 😂

Just got complete edition for 30 bucks today on ps5. It’s a learning curve for sure. Adjusting to the controls for it and trying to just learn the game. But enjoying it so far and might stream on my channel a bit.
It's incredibly fun, and the learning curve can be steep, but you'll realise after a few play sessions that, that learning curve comes with an elevator, and you'll learn really quickly
@@DyingLegacy
How do you mark certain quests on the controller?
@@Mohawk_Productions Unfortunatly I don't use the controller, and the last time I even looked at the layout was backed when I started a few years ago. However I think it goes over that during the tutorials?

Ahh ok thanks
Awesome guide!!
Thanks very much!
Just had this video recommended before the Xbox beta starts. Great video. Short and well explained 👍🏼 ! Is there really only one EU server?
Well it's one eu data centre, with multiple servers so there's more than one server
Just jumping in today! Great video to get me upto speed.
I'm happy to help, and I hope you enjoy the game! Take your time, and enjoy the journey.
Thank you for sharing this for us!!!!!

Is there a "speak to me like I'm 5 yrs old and never heard of FF and got to my 20s before I ever even really got into a video game" version of a beginner's video? Lol like the stuff so simple that most people would probably immediately click away out of boredom but is total news to someone like me 😂😅
If anything, I think most beginner guides should be made as if the person watching it is still learning to spell 😂 As it makes things easier!
I've been playing for about 3 months. I had no idea the novice hall gave you a exp boost ring. Excuse me while I launch myself off the nearest boss platform
I am pretty sure I only knew about it, because someone mid stream told me so. Or I probably wouldn't of found out for months either 😂
Best game now, would recommend for anyone looking for a awesome mmorpg
10/10 would agree again

Can I play with a party at the start of the game?
You can play with a party straight from the start
I didn’t even know FF had an MMO lol 😆 well I’ll give the trial a try later today! Diablo 4 is too scary for me and Genshin and star rail does need to be resting from time to time and I do want to begin a FF game …
You couldn't have chosen a better one to start with ;)
Are early game dungeons still busy enough then for new players to be able to find parties?
All party finder dungeons and content are level synced, It's as easy to find a party for low level dungeons as it is higher level dungeons, you will never have an issue getting dungeons
Honestly, I really want to try this game but somehow something is holding me back, maybe the fear of MMORPG'S failure. Is it any good nowdays?
It's the best it's ever been, it's failure was a different game and a long time ago
@@DyingLegacy thank you !!
I played the game.till lvl 70. Now should I buy it? I heard there is some kind of monthly abonament
Do you mean sub? You are the only one that can decide if it's worth it or not, based on how much you have enjoyed so far, and if you want to experience the other expansions
@@DyingLegacy Is it possible to just buy it? Instead of paying monthly
@Yamada-gk8jw No. You buy the expansions and pay a monthly sub.
The only other mmo I've played was pso2 and a little bit of pso2ng.(i only played the story mode and i took a break last year, I'll get back into it next year)
so I'm still pretty new with mmo's, so i have a few questions.
Also do you have any suggestions on what would be a good class that's easy to learn for beginners. I normally just play with melee characters other jrpgs
@@hitsumaru100All starting jobs start off slow, as for complicated, they're as complicated as each other. But I wouldn't worry about that, just go with what looks cool, and when you learn the game a bit more you'll know yourself which class you'll prefer and enjoy

@@toshironikko ah yes, there it is! I forgot that was even an option 🤣 Thanka for that!
if i buy the complete edition do i still have to pay the monthly subscription?
Yes, it's a subscription based mmo so no avoiding it unfortunatly
Just started playing and as you said the beginning is rather slow. Is it worth it to buy those level up passes that get you to level 80, I believe?
I personally don't think they're worth it, especially from the begining. ARR is slow, but it's not impassable, plus the wealth of content and such that you'd miss.
@@DyingLegacy Thanks for the response.

@@PowerSynopsis Oh guildleves, The info at the beginning is kinda redundant, you just walk and two tap the mobs and boss, but I completely understand where you are coming from😅
@@DyingLegacy Yeah, the actual quest was a cakewalk and I'm sure I didn't miss out too much by clicking-off the pop-ups, it just kinda made me go " _whoa_ "
From what I can tell so far about the game it seems like it's going to be much more enjoyable than the time I spent in WoW.
Enjoy✌🏿
card games arent for kids they are for everyone
Tell that to the rules that decides it's barely for anyone 😂
@@DyingLegacy No I mean overall I mean in general. You're never too old for games/cards and fun things
@zacatkinson3926 oh fair enough 😂 You're not wrong!
@@DyingLegacy yeah exactly. Look at osrs. U are an archer but also a warrior and a tank aswell. Need fireballs? I can switch to mage no problem! Game comes from the freaking stone age and has to show every game these days how it's really done. This just proofs it's not about making a great game for players. This is about : acting like u care, release a 'full' game, lure people in and make them spend money asap and then the players realise what a trash it is. But the developers dont give a fuck cuz bank has been made. The reality of gaming these days.. god i miss the n64 days..
@@brianligtenbarg1991 Gaming is a business now a days, and it's why I enjoy FFXIV, cause a lot of the business is outside the game. Too many games bring the business into it. Kinda why I like Guild Wars 2 aswell
