Got the sri about a month ago as a first car. Amazing for what I needed it for. I passed a long time ago but never got a car so was a bit scared about clutch etc but this car is honestly so easy to drive

I have the sting version. Same engine but my tax is only £30. My insurance is about the same as yours but i have 5 points, no black box, 5th year of driving. Dont know what my next car will be considering the price of cars now.
£30 a year on tax sounds nice 😅
No air-conditioning in the sting version though. But I've changed the grill to the same as yours, swapped out the instrument cluster (original one was awful) and had to change the headlights to the drl ones instead of the complete halogen ones.

1.5k without a black box I’ve got the same car got quoted 6.5k and 3.5k with and I’ve had to go with a blackbox
To be fair I have got 1 year no claims and almost a year on my license when I got the 1.5k quote

Fook that they quoted me that in 1997 for a 950 fiesta with 6points from a motorbike I was caught on totally illegal..
I eventually just started driving at 18 and it’s only with the new anpr shit I’ve had to play ball a little but saved grands on insurance over 22 yrs…
My pal found out insurance costs for “first time cars” ie fiesta polo corsa were higher than him getting a 2.0 golf gti…
Yes he had his licence a few yrs was around 36 but had had points before and a ban but still made a big difference down from like £1000 to £600.. also the area you live could put the cost up..
some lady I spoke to online in a village her insurance was always below £250 and currently £150….!
Me at present 43 car 1.4t Astra on provisional full comp 2yr nc £840 so I’ll swallow that with all the savings I made previously..
For my previous 1.6sri Astra full comp provisional 1yrs nc £560 down from £790
What was everyones first car?
2008 Skoda Fabia MK2 1.4TDI. Tax is £35, insurance for my first year (no blackbox) was £1350. Renewed for my 2nd year (still no blackbox, 1 year NCD) for £750.
I feel like I got super lucky with my insurance. Only issue is it's a base spec S trim, so everything is basic - side mirrors aren't electric, no remote locking, hell it doesn't even have a real glove box 😂 looking at upgrading to a new model Skoda Scala Monte Carlo (1.5TSI 150hp), insurance is even cheaper but tax is £180.
Seems like a fun first car though and to be fair 180 a years seems a lot but it’s not that bad compared to others
@@ItsCDB Yeah it's been great fun to drive, not crazy power but it sure gets going. And that's true, £180 is pretty reasonable for a new model.

1st I drove was a 92' Corolla.
1st I owned is a 04' Citroen Xsara VTS. My dad got it for me in 2015 when I was in college and I still drive it
I had a black box, it lasted 3 weeks before I cancelled it before they cancelled me, I bite the bullet and ok took the 3.6k hit on my insurance without a black box. My first car has 200bhp or the red one 👈🏻 you see. I call my car g best, coz it drinks like him

@@ItsCDB there’s not many like mine. Alcantara seats sat nav. S line. I say not many Iv not seen another one yet. Good spec. It cost me 5.5k he wanted 6k last July, it had 88k miles, for an 08 is good it’s on 92 now, Iv had all brake discs/pads changed, service on the engine. Etc.
