Went to Braintree GridServe yesterday, having been there 3 times previously. Once I took a sceptical friend there, to show him the future of EV charging! I had gone to see my daughter and left her house, with more than enough charge to get home (32%) and drove to the Electric Forecourt (just because I love it!). Plugged in and set the car to charge to 70%. Went inside, out of the high heat of yesterday, and bought an orange juice from M&S foods, sat in the air-conditioned rest area and read some of my book. Nipped to the loo and headed back to the car. About a minute after I arrived, the car reached the 70% charge I had set. The air-con was running, as I had set it to cool the car a few minutes earlier, got in and drove away. I was relaxed, cool and ready to go home. It's not the cheapest price-wise, but there's always a charger available and is still cheaper to fill, than an ICE car!
I really enjoyed this style of content. It was neat seeing a review of the car whilst demonstrating just how common charging opportunities are for folks.
I don't want to go to a dedicated place to charge my car. I want to go somewhere like a proper supermarket where I can get my shopping done while my car charges. I need to be doing something while my car charges not just lounging about drinking expensive coffee. Great for a break on a long journey but not day too day running (most supermarkets have coffee and toilets as well and are cheaper). I have a new Gridserve charge station near me but I won't be visiting it as I charge at home. Hopefully it'll help bring tourists to the region.
I was very impressed on my test drive so much I ordered one. It was the perfect combo of looks, practicality and price for me and I am now counting the days left chugging round my ICE (not including my weekend car).

100kWh charging capable, at Instavolt a 50kWh charger and a 22kWh charger? An easy mistake, it's kW (kilowatt) for power and kWh (kilowatt hour) for energy. Basically if it's not battery capacity related then use kW (kilowatt). It may be a 22kW AC charge unit but all cars have the onboard AC Charger and if the car only has a maximum 7kW AC capability then that's the maximum you get regardless if the wall unit is capable of higher. Lots of mixed small errors made by many new to EVs but needs to be corrected as others watching may just copy your incorrect terminologies used.
The first part of your comment is correct. Thank you Colin! 🚗 But your next part needs to be more specific in the following way: This car is able to charge at 7kW (at one phase), which means that it certainly DOES matter that the charge unit is 22kW (3 phases) rather than 11kW (3 phases) since the latter would not give 7kW (one phase) to this particular car, but only half of it! Public AC charge units are (I think) always 3 phases, hence the 22kW refers to approx: 3 x 7kW, that is: This car gets 7kW. (An 11kW AC charge unit: Only capable of supplying half of 7kW for this car).
@@carstenschmedes6599 Not all Public AC destination charge points are 3 phase, the majority of the UK is single phase. Europe on the other hand do have lots of 3 phase including private homes that's why 11/22kW 3 phase AC vehicles are more popular there than the UK. She and the unit stated that the wall unit was 22kW capable but mentioned nothing about the car's AC capability and it may be assumed by her that the car would charge at that 22kW rate.
Bought a 110 Zoe last year and it has outperformed our expectations, even driving across the country to Essex coast from Wales and back in the same day doing 4.9 miles pkwh (on Eco mode), which is above the range that Renault give. My wife's 40 mile daily commute costs about 65p on night tariff of 6p (less if you account for our 3kwh solar roof) which takes 4 hrs at 3kwh to recharge. Downsides are the slightly small boot compared to our Skoda Fabia and the mysteries of finding working chargers/Apps. The interior is functional, although the seats are high because of the battery, so taller drivers might get back ache and the motor is acceptably quick and fairly quiet. Road noise is ok and the 50kwh battery means that charging is faster than other vehicles with larger batteries with smaller ranges, such as the Corsa/Leaf... We tried the Leaf, the Corsa and the E Nero which were too expensive, too short on range and slightly too big in that order. My wife didn't like the ID3 (I loved it), the Kona, or the Ioniq. I'd say the Renault is still the best all round cheap electric car and the Hyundai/Kia are top teir, with the ID3 in the middle (ID4, IPace, Mercs, Audis, not a match for the Kia/Hyundai in terms of efficiency/price/finish...) If style is more important than practicality, then the Renault loses, but I don't think the Corsa wins there either...
Super jealous of the Gridserve charging forecourt, really need to start rolling that type of forecourt out in Ireland soon with our recent surge in EV ownership. Good review of the Corsa too, reviewed it for what it is.
What a great review. I am in Canada so the specifics don't apply to me and the Corsa is not sold here. That said, knowing that there are good quality, affordable EVs on the way is great news. It is also very helpful to know what it is like to live with an EV regarding charging options. Thanks again! Jim
Canadian as well. It looks as though Stellantis is working on a Fiat version of the Corsa, which I really hope we end up getting here in Canada. It seems like a great little EV.
Having owned one of these for over a year and having covered over 26,000 miles I can give a realistic view of this car. Actual range in this car is no where near what Vauxhall claim, in summer the most you’ll get driving carefully is about 140-160 and in winter it drops to 90-110 miles. The interior quality is low and there is a lot of rattles. Our car has been back to the dealership 5 times for noisy CV joints and a failed parking brake. The CV joint issue is a fault that Vauxhall know about. The dealership changed our drive shafts after the 4th visit and a lot of complaints but the new drive shafts started making a noise a few days later. There is also many other problems including that the keyless entry system doesn’t work. This isn’t a one off as I have driven 3 of these as courtesy cars and they have similar problems. We are trading ours in and getting a 64Kwh Kona but the problems we’ve had would probably put most people off buying another electric car.
Unfortunately, just because it’s electric doesn’t mean it’s automatically a great car, we are still gonna find some are a bit naff and have their shortcomings. I couldn’t wait for the Corsas release, glad I didn’t. Tried the e208 but found it too small for our growing family. Corsa would have been the same. Have had driveshaft issues with current leaf though sounding similar to your Corsa. Seems when building budget EVs they’ve cheaped out when designing a driveshaft getting high stress in both directions due to the flipping between hard driving and strong regening.
I have had my corsa e sri for 3 months & totally agree about the range. Only taken one long trip & it was scary how the percentage dropped on motorways. Even driving around town is not that impressive & find yourself constantly watching the GOM ( guess-ometer) mileage. Overall a little bit disappointing as although quick is not exciting to drive. My previous car a Fiesta eco boost was much more fun to drive. Only reason I changed was that the dealer offered me a ridiculous PX against the corsa e. ( Had Fiesta 3 years & PX offered was only slightly less than I paid for it !) Financially a deal I could not refuse, and allowed me to make the transfer to EV painlessly. However still missing my fiesta for that fun driving experience you don't get with the corsa.
I drive its German brother (made by Opel) for almost two years now and I absolutely love this little runabout. It's a really good daily driver and, on top, it has the ability to make the occasional long-range trip without a problem, if needed
I've had my Corsa E for 17 months; it replaced a ZOE that I had for 7 years. Overall I'm very pleased with it apart from the app, which was poor to start with and despite various tweaks, has not improved. Sadly, Vauxhall are not interested in any customer feedback, so there's little chance that anything will improve in the future.
@@Sherukka the App on mine shows on the phone 100 mile more range than the cad has. Adds 12,000 miles occasionally on the maintenance. The cad needs 2 Software updates and this biggest dealership group in Scotland will not provide an automatic courtesy car. At the first services for 4 hours they did nothing and messed up the service indicator. Now the cars thinks it needs a service. It runs fine. Brakes are fine. And it will never do more than 150 mile range unless on mountain roads with lots of regen available.
Do you know what, Tish, I really enjoyed this video. What a great idea to rate your local chargers...! After range anxiety, I reckon actually being able to charge an EV on-route is the second most common hurdle to overcome for ICE drivers considering the switch to greener motoring - so this was a perfect topic to cover. And it was great that you had so many positive experiences - though, it's absolutely no surprise that your first 'fail' was a BP Pulse 'fast' charge point...! On EV forums, they're frequently rated the MOST unreliable network... call me cynical, but it's almost as though 'big-oil' wants to make converting to an EV as difficult as possible...!! Go figure... 😉

@@Brian-om2hh well now that I've had an EV for a year two or three would be fine. 45 minutes to charge a car a good amount is fine. When I last did a very long road trip I wanted to stop for the bathroom and a coffee every 140 miles anyway and that was during England's stupid petrol panic (no petrol in pumps) and.i had an ICE car it took me 2 HOURS of detours to find a station able to sell me half a tank. in a year of unwise Citroen Ami journeys I have met ONE broken charger. And that's the one at college that I don't need to use because i arrive home from my commute with 17 miles left in that tiny battery.
Thank you for the video. No-one seems to mention how much the charging companies ‘hold’ onto when you charge. And if the charge fails, is the held money returned straight away. Fuel stations don’t hold your money. Again thank you for your informative reviews.
I've never had any money taken before charging when using Osprey, Clenergy, Swarco, GeniePoint, PodPoint, of GridServe. However, I do use their apps, or a separate EV charge account, and have payment methods set up on all my accounts. A couple of them took £1 at first to make sure that the payment details were correct, but these were "Pending" charges and never realised.
I’m still trying to get the £15 back which BP pulse taken off my account as a deposit, the charger failed after 5min. I can live without that £15 but as a principle I am chasing that refund and I will make sure I get it back - so should everyone else having the same problem
Great video. My better half is looking at the Corsa E (in the same colour) and is a daily commuter needing about 50 to 60 miles of range per day. She's not a fan of large cars so the Corsa seems ideal. She'll be pleased to see your report.

I really like this video. I've got an Corsa-E too and love driving it. It's pretty nippy in sport mode - but I'm a sucker for trying to eek out as many miles per kwh as possible so keep it in eco 😂 I've had an email today (27th April 22) from InstaVolt saying their prices are increasing to 57p/kwh from 4th May (22) 😣
It is like a classic GT car, drive comfortably longer journeys in the Eco-mode but if you arrive at a bendy nice road just change to Sport and have some fun!
Thanks for an informative video. Unfortunately I had a charging debacle yesterday on my way back from Norwich to Brighton. Two very new charging stations near the A11 both not working, ended up at an Instavolt in Thetford. As you point out it is 50p per Kwh but after two failures I did not mind as it worked. I was disappointed more than anything as clearly someone (Shell and Chargemaster I am looking at you) has gone to a lot of effort (and cost) to make two very fancy charge stations but neither delivered. The Instavolt was very basic but it worked so maybe don't overthink it. I am definitely an EV evangelist but my experience yesterday tells me EV ownership is not for the faint of heart; if you have somewhere to charge at home take the plunge for sure but plan those longer trips well and keep everything crossed.
I have this car, i really like it, wish the range was just that little bit better but for the work commute and the usual daily trips it's great and works out about half the cost i was spending in petrol in my old car even with the electricity price hike, i do always charge from home though. Also the better range wasn't from a software update, it has a more efficient heat pump
I have got an early Corsa e that I ordered before the first lockdown and which was delivered in early July 2020. I love it. Having used it on long holiday trips to Area’s of the country which are poorly served with chargers I wish the Corsa had a bigger battery. I thought I was buying a 50 kW battery but only 45 kW is useable. This is my only gripe, but if the charging network was better there wouldn’t be a problem having a smaller battery.
? What exactly did you find more engaging with the possibly a bit heavier e-208? Where the cars on the same 17" 205/45 R 17 Michelin Primacy 4 rubbish ECO tyres and at the same tyre pressures?
I bought my corsa e last August. 21 plate. I like it, but mileage not good in cold weather. 20 mile journey and used 40 miles of electric. Better in warm weather ( 12c plus ) I do charge at work on one of 4 pods... FREE too. I look at the cost of derv now, my saving payes the £250pcm on credit. I give it 9/10.
EVs definitely work down south where there seems to be chargers all over the place but up here in East Yorkshire once you get away from Hull there's hardly any.
Knowing the difference of DC (fast charge) and AC (slow charge often using own cable), is a big thing. The Corsa E can make use of only 7.4KW AC charging, so the fact that 22Kw was offered, the car will only accept at the slower speed. All of the AC chargers are generally placed at places you will stop for a longer time and don't need the fast charge. DC Fast chargers are great for filling up for a fast speedy stop! The Corsa E seems to be a great small car to have the benefits of a decent range. For me this is a second car for the family. Finally I wish Gridserve would bring a charging forecourt to the Lincoln/Newark area!
I have a Corsa-e too and taking it for a callout service tomorrow. I wonder if they will update the software, too? Apparently, they need to change the onboard charger. Let's see...
In the real world driving, you probably get 140 to 160 miles depends on motor way driving or urban road driving. During the winter time it drops to only 100 to 120 miles in range. Don’t expect too much from the manufacturer claimed range, say between 55% to 75% if you are lucky.
Weirdly when I "confirm charge" at Tesco podpoints, the app gives me an error message, but does actually confirm, as it does charge for much longer than 15 mins. Also, some Tesco podpoints are free for the 22kw chargers too as well as the 7s
So the grid serve is something that should pop up in more areas. Quick question what was the cost of that stop for the charge on the corsa? Not including the coffee from COSTA’FORTUNE
I live is South Wales and in my area there are lots of charging points in Caerphilly. I'm waiting for my Vauxhall Corsa e as there a waiting list. I know I'll be slightly gutted after driving a Ford Focus ST line but I got to think of the prices of Deisal. I don't use the car much anymore I don't think many in my street do. So far looking at the reviews I'm happy and looking forward to driving 🚗 a battery or EV I heard its very quiet. Not used to Automatics neither 😱 sign of the times.
Grid serve is very much the future... These other ones just seem like nobody looks after them so you never know if they are going to work until you drive to them , which if your running low, can be very stressful 😮
Charges are kW Batteries are kWh The charge point maybe 22kW but what is the charger in your car? Very few EVs have a 22kW internal AC charger. These days it is cheaper and easier for manufacturers to presume you are DC charging so they only put a 7kW or 11kW AC charger in the car.
What is the max AC charging this EV can take? 7kW/11kW/22kW as the charger isn't the limiting factor limit in the car. All EV's and well all cars ICE or EV are affected by weather/geography/driving style/towing/etc on what range you can get. Any idea if the car will support Plug & Charge in future at all, via a software update say? With your ratings what factors do you use to get the rating? ie: safety lighting, CCTV, reliability, dependability, ICE/EV'ing, facilities(toilets/food/etc), close to main highways/throughways/etc, etc...
Good idea doing reviews on charging stations etc. How about looking at the accessibility an facilities for less mobile drivers/wheelchair users. We do drive as well. Be one of the first at covering some of this area. It would be so helpful to so many.

Motability are on about more accessible chargers. Currently many are terrible. But then Motability have Vauxhall EV,s leased and in Scotland Arnold Clarks will likely do the servicing or not, and recalls and yet have no Automatic Courtesy Cars. Bad not being able to access chargers, worse being left carless.

Seems to me if you haven't got a smart phone, or signal, you are not going to have much joy!!! Having said that, I was impressed with your video. 👍. As far as charging your car goes, there is a very long way to go. EV cars are not for the elderly, unless they are up to date. Certainly not for my parents, who are quite good at driving, but not tech savvy..
Here in Scotland the entire EV public charging network can be accessed via a Chargeplace Scotland RFID card with a bill being sent to you once a month that is cleared by direct debit, so no downloading apps or even the need for a smartphone. I am in the mature age group but with zero interest in tech and don't even own a smartphone, yet my Fiat 500e is proving much easier to manage and drive than my previous car, a Twingo GT particularly as I can charge at home - a bit like having your own private petrol pump!
A few weeks ago at 10:30pm my Zoe was in turtle mode and the satnav was on the blink as was the phone signal. Hoping to get to one in Rochdale, I arrived at a charger in Bury!( satnav was making mistakes). I could not download the app as no 4G signal in the town centre! The battery on the phone went, but I was bold when car suggested 6 miles range, so somehow drove round getting regen which allowed the phone to charge, before ending up at the same 7kWh charger. I tapped into the wifi at the nearby ASDA and finally the app could load. A slow charge allowed transfer to a rapid charger, which I had to sit at for ages to get enough to go home -130 miles away....reaching home after 5am next day. The charger company sent a rfid card, which may be helpful if I ever go to GMcr area to watch football again! I do sound stupid but then at the same time never gave up, though RAC said ...before I got cut off that they would send someone in 2 hours!
Fossil companies like BP or Shell should not be allowed to neglect their charge points. Some locations are just pathetic, although the new MFG charging hubs have been much better. Hopefully we'll get more of those sites emerging in the UK over the next couple of years.
Looks promising as I like the look of the new corsa but I’m worried about the lack of customer service at Vauxhall I owned a 2014 Adam for 2 years and the dealership network is very very poor and I swore I would never own another Vauxhall
Trying to get recall actions done is a joke. But so is servicing at Vauxhall dealers left. A lack of EV trained Technicians means a Vauxhall EV might go in for a booked services and leave with a look see and wash and vacuum and even recall work not carried out, or the service indicator reset. The My Vauxhall app will show service incomplete.
I have always liked the look of the Corsa e, although it's too big a vehicle for where I live, that is if I could get a homecharger, which I can't, and the infrastructure here is near enough non existent, the nearest charger to me, the parking fees are£3 per hour plus the cost of charging. At present I run a 2011 Smart ForTwo diesel, iv covered around 135000 miles in it so far, it's reliable and I only need to refuel once a fortnight, I would look at an electric Smart but it doesn't do enough mileage between charges, charging and parking charges, it's extremely expensive, dearer than running an average sized petrol powered vehicle, so sadly, I'm going to be living with my Smart ForTwo diesel for the foreseeable future as I can't afford to move and I can't afford to buy an electric vehicle that will cover a distance between charges. On another note regarding charging, many have said that I won't be driving such long distances so why do I need a vehicle with such a range, the answer is that I work long hours, I don't want to finish a 15 hour shift, drive another hour to get home to try and find a chargepoint that will be available after 6 or 8pm, which my local chargepoint isn't, so I'd like to be able to drive for a week without having to charge my car, and I'd like to be able to run an electric vehicle for around the same sort of cost as my diesel Smart ForTwo, I know it's a lot to ask
I'm still not convinced, there is nothing better than filling up the 3.0l twin turbo diesel jag and racing from scotland to london with reactive cruise set to 99mph, one tank gets me there and most of the way back, with just a splash and dash at the border on the way home, no stops, no buying expensive coffee, no problems. EV's i'm afraid have a long way to go before i buy one, i need a range of 800miles, like my diesel Jaguar 8 speed auto.

??? So was that Corsa one with a 7kW or 11kW on board charger. If the 7kW on board AC charger when on a Tesco 7kW it will show as charging at 21-26 mph until near full. It will take in about 6.1-6.6 kWh in 60 minutes.

@@antoniopalmero4063 totally agree. It was more just to give a equal level to give an idea on value. A lot of chargers are under 50p per KWH but some arnt not so by giving a level it could help people choose which chargers are worth using.
@@JeffersMcJ yep , I’ve been driving electric for over 5 years now , the first 3 years most of the chargers were free like instavolt etc, I use podpoint at tesco quite a bit whilst shopping which are also free. And up until recently my night electric rate was 8p kwh . I do about 10k miles a year and I reckon I’ve saved £1000s over the past few years .👍
If you charge at home, the cost on an EV specific tariff is normally now 7.5p per kwh. And that's after the recent 50% increase in cost. If you do this most of the time, your per mile costs can be less than 2.5p per mile.
Don’t know about the e version but the ICE car had problems. It was very crash on poor surfaces and started showing signs of overheating on Lyme Regis’ very steep hills. This was my daughter’s loan car. She is sticking with her Tesla M3. Enjoyed the video, by the way. Different concept and works well.

@@JeffersMcJ The cost effectiveness of an EV only comes in to play if you can charge at home or work (which unfortunately not everyone is able to do). If an EV owner is charging solely via public rapid chargers then there's not a great deal in it compared to an efficient ICE car.
Incredible where you find those low charging prices... According zap map in Wakefield area cheapest charge is 48p and 80% of chargers price is over 50p. atm charging at home 27p cheapest way for me...
When are places like Tesco and Sainsbury's going to install a sensible amount of charge points! I mean the four (admittedly free to use) points in the Tesco car park featured is ridiculous. The supermarkets currently sell petrol and diesel so surely they should be investing in what will be their long term replacement? I would like to go electric, but with no way of charging at home, until I can plug in at the supermarket carpark and recharge while I do my shopping once a week, it's just not practical for me, and I'm certainly not going to gamble on whether one of a handful of current chargers is working or unoccupied. Specific membership cards needs to stop too, charging up should be like filling up with fuel as far as payment is concerned. Have you approached your employer to ask if they might consider applying for the available workplace grants to install EV charging? It actually shouldn't cost them a penny, as the grant covers the costs. You would of course pay for the charging, unless your employer is generous. Your Local Authority are also entitled to apply for grants to install EV charging near your home. You would need to approach your Council to initiate the process, but the money is available. Your Council just need to apply for it..... All new EV charging must provide contactless payment facilities by law from this year......so no app needed. You may be expecting a bit too much too soon. We're basically just 10 years into mass market electric cars. How many petrol stations do you suppose there were 10 years after the motor car first appeared 130 years ago? There are a further 30,000 new public charge connections being installed in 2022 alone, with the aim of around 200,000 by 2030. And don't forget that many EV owners will have their own home chargers too. I have my own charger, and I reckon I will have used public charging maybe 6 times in the last 2 years.......
@@Brian-om2hh thanks for the info. My company has installed three pod point (?) chargers but sadly they are all in use with Tesla company cars. Whilst chargers near/at home would be welcome, it's sometimes difficult to actually find a parking space (roadside parking) at all! My great hope therefore is that the large supermarkets and out of town shopping centres will look to replace their fuel income with charging income in the near future such that we can charge our car once a week whilst doing the weekly shop. I feel it's time that a space to charger ratio was mandated at all shopping centres over a certain size to enable the many thousands like me to charge an electric vehicle relatively easily. At the end of the day it should be a money maker for the supermarkets eventually too.
Money money money, costs a ton of it to suddenly dig up the car park and stick in a whole heap of charge points, not to mention getting the grid supply upgraded to handle all the extra potential draw, and that’s just AC points not even rapids. If it was cheap and easy to do, every single shell and bp garage up and down the country would have twice as many charging points as they do petrol pumps.
Don't forget that 22kw ac charging doesn't mean you'll get that unfortunately.... Early Corsa e's can only charge at 7.5kw onboard and newer ones at 11.5kw Not many cars can Zoe owners can and a few others.....didn't know that myself till the other week.
I'm confused about your ratings of chargers as the Corsa only has a 7kw onboard setup so a 22kw AC wouldn't do a thing for speed, and please be sure to address charger with the correct names Fast and Rapid and please don't encourage people to go off for a weeks shop whilst using a Rapid charger as you should be going to 80% and moving on as we just don't have the network capacity for that yet. Other than that, nice review video.
Great video Tish on charging. Just a note on your driving, you cross you hands too much, and at one point on turning you weren't holding the wheel at all! Just imagine if you hit a pothole while you're turning.... hold the wheel at all times without crossing your hands, it's very easy!!
I drive a Corsa-e & have done for 25,000 miles.. Free Charging with CCS in Scotland or InstaVolt, PodPoint or BP Pulse, When i charge at a 50kW charger, battery hot & weather hot & arriving needing to charge because i am down to maybe 20 miles range i get 33kWh of charge in 60 minutes into the 50kW battery with 45 kW useable. The same with other vehicles with not big batteries. It is strange the speed / time that others say they get.
The downside is that the free charging in Scotland is not likely to be free for much longer. The Scottish Government have done well to keep it free as long as they already have. The scheme they provided to help people buy EV's was also good....interest free loans I think, although I don't know all the details.
@@Brian-om2hh much of Scotland has not been free for a while now with CPS, and even worse with SWARCO . Tax payers have spent over £50 million over 12 years for the fiasco that is public charging in Scotland
@@georgewalker7061 actually the points on CPS are owned by many individual organisations and the prices are set by them, not the government. Many are owned by councils, parks,housing associations etc. CPS is like eBay and the charge points are individual sellers, eBay(CPS) manages all the admin and organises maintenance on owners behalf but it’s the owners who pay the bills. Most of the councils now have pricing structures set but vary wildly in cost. They aren’t normally allowed to make profit though, all proceeds go back to maintaining/upgrading their charging offerings.
@@salibaba 32 local authorities in Scotland and their maintenance contracts are with SWARCO e-volt. And now the chargers are mostly from them. Swarco won the contract for the CPS back office. Transport Scotland and the Scottish Government are on a love in with SWARCO. They are in incompetent. They say they had to take over a broken system. They were there for long enough doing their worst before getting control. Or lack of control.
@@salibaba you will know how a ticket is raised when there is a fault, and how the charger owner then has time to have maintenance done. Fair enough about fair charging for a good provision. But really CPS with SWARCO having the contract is just ridiculous in as far as they can not even get Chargers showing in the correct position even if weekly you notify them. Then it is a joke dealing with CPS at the Michelin Innovation Centre in Broughty Ferry and excuses they come away with. Transport Scotland has given Swarco long enough to get a grip. There is more to Scotland than the Central Belt.
If you check various EV car forums you will see that they all avoid BP Pulse chargers like the plague due to them being so often unreliable. Some work of course but it's usually best to just swerve by and go to one that is more reliable or you could just be wasting your time.
In Northern Ireland most of the chargers are broken and we also have a lack of rapid chargers. In my city there is just two rapid chargers where one of them is broken from two years. It is a joke. We have more electric cars on the road, but I can't see more chargers to be created. Shame. Even my Tesco or Asda doesn't have any chargers.
Went to Braintree GridServe yesterday, having been there 3 times previously. Once I took a sceptical friend there, to show him the future of EV charging! I had gone to see my daughter and left her house, with more than enough charge to get home (32%) and drove to the Electric Forecourt (just because I love it!). Plugged in and set the car to charge to 70%. Went inside, out of the high heat of yesterday, and bought an orange juice from M&S foods, sat in the air-conditioned rest area and read some of my book. Nipped to the loo and headed back to the car. About a minute after I arrived, the car reached the 70% charge I had set. The air-con was running, as I had set it to cool the car a few minutes earlier, got in and drove away. I was relaxed, cool and ready to go home. It's not the cheapest price-wise, but there's always a charger available and is still cheaper to fill, than an ICE car!
I really enjoyed this style of content. It was neat seeing a review of the car whilst demonstrating just how common charging opportunities are for folks.
We need more of these Gridserve forecourts around the country. The prices are pretty good, much better than the Shell forecourt in Fulham.
I don't want to go to a dedicated place to charge my car. I want to go somewhere like a proper supermarket where I can get my shopping done while my car charges. I need to be doing something while my car charges not just lounging about drinking expensive coffee. Great for a break on a long journey but not day too day running (most supermarkets have coffee and toilets as well and are cheaper).
I have a new Gridserve charge station near me but I won't be visiting it as I charge at home. Hopefully it'll help bring tourists to the region.
100 Gridserve forecourts are planned, sited on most of Britain's major road routes. I think 2 or 3 are up and running now.

100kWh charging capable, at Instavolt a 50kWh charger and a 22kWh charger? An easy mistake, it's kW (kilowatt) for power and kWh (kilowatt hour) for energy. Basically if it's not battery capacity related then use kW (kilowatt).
It may be a 22kW AC charge unit but all cars have the onboard AC Charger and if the car only has a maximum 7kW AC capability then that's the maximum you get regardless if the wall unit is capable of higher. Lots of mixed small errors made by many new to EVs but needs to be corrected as others watching may just copy your incorrect terminologies used.

The first part of your comment is correct. Thank you Colin! 🚗 But your next part needs to be more specific in the following way: This car is able to charge at 7kW (at one phase), which means that it certainly DOES matter that the charge unit is 22kW (3 phases) rather than 11kW (3 phases) since the latter would not give 7kW (one phase) to this particular car, but only half of it! Public AC charge units are (I think) always 3 phases, hence the 22kW refers to approx: 3 x 7kW, that is: This car gets 7kW. (An 11kW AC charge unit: Only capable of supplying half of 7kW for this car).
@@carstenschmedes6599 Not all Public AC destination charge points are 3 phase, the majority of the UK is single phase. Europe on the other hand do have lots of 3 phase including private homes that's why 11/22kW 3 phase AC vehicles are more popular there than the UK.
She and the unit stated that the wall unit was 22kW capable but mentioned nothing about the car's AC capability and it may be assumed by her that the car would charge at that 22kW rate.
Bought a 110 Zoe last year and it has outperformed our expectations, even driving across the country to Essex coast from Wales and back in the same day doing 4.9 miles pkwh (on Eco mode), which is above the range that Renault give. My wife's 40 mile daily commute costs about 65p on night tariff of 6p (less if you account for our 3kwh solar roof) which takes 4 hrs at 3kwh to recharge.
Downsides are the slightly small boot compared to our Skoda Fabia and the mysteries of finding working chargers/Apps.
The interior is functional, although the seats are high because of the battery, so taller drivers might get back ache and the motor is acceptably quick and fairly quiet. Road noise is ok and the 50kwh battery means that charging is faster than other vehicles with larger batteries with smaller ranges, such as the Corsa/Leaf...
We tried the Leaf, the Corsa and the E Nero which were too expensive, too short on range and slightly too big in that order.
My wife didn't like the ID3 (I loved it), the Kona, or the Ioniq.
I'd say the Renault is still the best all round cheap electric car and the Hyundai/Kia are top teir, with the ID3 in the middle (ID4, IPace, Mercs, Audis, not a match for the Kia/Hyundai in terms of efficiency/price/finish...)
If style is more important than practicality, then the Renault loses, but I don't think the Corsa wins there either...

What a great review. I am in Canada so the specifics don't apply to me and the Corsa is not sold here. That said, knowing that there are good quality, affordable EVs on the way is great news. Canadian as well. It looks as though Stellantis is working on a Fiat version of the Corsa, which I really hope we end up getting here in Canada. It seems like a great little EV.

Having owned one of these for over a year and having covered over 26,000 miles I can give a realistic view of this car.
Actual range in this car is no where near what Vauxhall claim, in summer the most you’ll get driving carefully is about 140-160 and in winter it drops to 90-110 miles.
The interior quality is low and there is a lot of rattles. Our car has been back to the dealership 5 times for noisy CV joints and a failed parking brake.
The CV joint issue is a fault that Vauxhall know about. The dealership changed our drive shafts after the 4th visit and a lot of complaints but the new drive shafts started making a noise a few days later. There is also many other problems including that the keyless entry system doesn’t work. This isn’t a one off as I have driven 3 of these as courtesy cars and they have similar problems.
We are trading ours in and getting a 64Kwh Kona but the problems we’ve had would probably put most people off buying another electric car.

Unfortunately, just because it’s electric doesn’t mean it’s automatically a great car, we are still gonna find some are a bit naff and have their shortcomings. I couldn’t wait for the Corsas release, glad I didn’t. Tried the e208 but found it too small for our growing family. Corsa would have been the same. Have had driveshaft issues with current leaf though sounding similar to your Corsa. Seems when building budget EVs they’ve cheaped out when designing a driveshaft getting high stress in both directions due to the flipping between hard driving and strong regening.
What do you expect - it's a crappy Vauxhall at the end of the day.

I have had my corsa e sri for 3 months & totally agree about the range. Only taken one long trip & it was scary how the percentage dropped on motorways. Even driving around town is not that impressive & find yourself constantly watching the GOM ( guess-ometer) mileage.
Overall a little bit disappointing as although quick is not exciting to drive. My previous car a Fiesta eco boost was much more fun to drive. Only reason I changed was that the dealer offered me a ridiculous PX against the corsa e. ( Had Fiesta 3 years & PX offered was only slightly less than I paid for it !)
Financially a deal I could not refuse, and allowed me to make the transfer to EV painlessly. However still missing my fiesta for that fun driving experience you don't get with the corsa.

I drive its German brother (made by Opel) for almost two years now and I absolutely love this little runabout. It's a really good daily driver and, on top, it has the ability to make the occasional long-range trip without a problem, if needed

I've had my Corsa E for 17 months; it replaced a ZOE that I had for 7 years. Overall I'm very pleased with it apart from the app, which was poor to start with and despite various tweaks, has not improved. Sadly, Vauxhall are not interested in any customer feedback, so there's little chance that anything will improve in the future.
I assume the App is same in every Stellantis car and at least the Peugeot App on iPhone has improved. Now I get a connection to the car every time.
@@Sherukka the App on mine shows on the phone 100 mile more range than the cad has. Adds 12,000 miles occasionally on the maintenance. The cad needs 2 Software updates and this biggest dealership group in Scotland will not provide an automatic courtesy car. At the first services for 4 hours they did nothing and messed up the service indicator. Now the cars thinks it needs a service. It runs fine. Brakes are fine. And it will never do more than 150 mile range unless on mountain roads with lots of regen available.
Vuaxhall are probably not interested because what they sell now are rebadged Peugots, research it ..........

After range anxiety, I reckon actually being able to charge an EV on-route is the second most common hurdle to overcome for ICE drivers considering the switch to greener motoring - so this was a perfect topic to cover.
And it was great that you had so many positive experiences - though, it's absolutely no surprise that your first 'fail' was a BP Pulse 'fast' charge point...! On EV forums, they're frequently rated the MOST unreliable network... call me cynical, but it's almost as though 'big-oil' wants to make converting to an EV as difficult as possible...!! Go figure... 😉

How many charger "hops" would you anticipate making in a day, if the car has 200 miles of range? Do you often drive 200 miles per day?
@@Brian-om2hh well now that I've had an EV for a year two or three would be fine. 45 minutes to charge a car a good amount is fine. When I last did a very long road trip I wanted to stop for the bathroom and a coffee every 140 miles anyway and that was during England's stupid petrol panic (no petrol in pumps) and.i had an ICE car it took me 2 HOURS of detours to find a station able to sell me half a tank. in a year of unwise Citroen Ami journeys I have met ONE broken charger. And that's the one at college that I don't need to use because i arrive home from my commute with 17 miles left in that tiny battery.

No-one seems to mention how much the charging companies ‘hold’ onto when you charge. And if the charge fails, is the held money returned straight away. Fuel stations don’t hold your money. Again thank you for your informative reviews.
I've never had any money taken before charging when using Osprey, Clenergy, Swarco, GeniePoint, PodPoint, of GridServe. However, I do use their apps, or a separate EV charge account, and have payment methods set up on all my accounts. A couple of them took £1 at first to make sure that the payment details were correct, but these were "Pending" charges and never realised.
I’m still trying to get the £15 back which BP pulse taken off my account as a deposit, the charger failed after 5min. I can live without that £15 but as a principle I am chasing that refund and I will make sure I get it back - so should everyone else having the same problem
Great video. My better half is looking at the Corsa E (in the same colour) and is a daily commuter needing about 50 to 60 miles of range per day. She's not a fan of large cars so the Corsa seems ideal. She'll be pleased to see your report.

I really like this video. I've got an Corsa-E too and love driving it. It's pretty nippy in sport mode - but I'm a sucker for trying to eek out as many miles per kwh as possible so keep it in eco 😂
I've had an email today (27th April 22) from InstaVolt saying their prices are increasing to 57p/kwh from 4th May (22) 😣
It is like a classic GT car, drive comfortably longer journeys in the Eco-mode but if you arrive at a bendy nice road just change to Sport and have some fun!
Thanks for an informative video. Unfortunately I had a charging debacle yesterday on my way back from Norwich to Brighton. Two very new charging stations near the A11 both not working, ended up at an Instavolt in Thetford. As you point out it is 50p per Kwh but after two failures I did not mind as it worked. I was disappointed more than anything as clearly someone (Shell and Chargemaster I am looking at you) has gone to a lot of effort (and cost) to make two very fancy charge stations but neither delivered. The Instavolt was very basic but it worked so maybe don't overthink it. I am definitely an EV evangelist but my experience yesterday tells me EV ownership is not for the faint of heart; if you have somewhere to charge at home take the plunge for sure but plan those longer trips well and keep everything crossed.

I have this car, i really like it, wish the range was just that little bit better but for the work commute and the usual daily trips it's great and works out about half the cost i was spending in petrol in my old car even with the electricity price hike, i do always charge from home though. Also the better range wasn't from a software update, it has a more efficient heat pump
I have got an early Corsa e that I ordered before the first lockdown and which was delivered in early July 2020. I love it. Having used it on long holiday trips to Area’s of the country which are poorly served with chargers I wish the Corsa had a bigger battery. I thought I was buying a 50 kW battery but only 45 kW is useable. This is my only gripe, but if the charging network was better there wouldn’t be a problem having a smaller battery.
50 kWh battery not kW? As they are not rated for the power but capacity.
? What exactly did you find more engaging with the possibly a bit heavier e-208? Where the cars on the same 17" 205/45 R 17 Michelin Primacy 4 rubbish ECO tyres and at the same tyre pressures?
I bought my corsa e last August. 21 plate. I like it, but mileage not good in cold weather. 20 mile journey and used 40 miles of electric. Better in warm weather ( 12c plus ) I do charge at work on one of 4 pods... FREE too. I look at the cost of derv now, my saving payes the £250pcm on credit. I give it 9/10.
EVs definitely work down south where there seems to be chargers all over the place but up here in East Yorkshire once you get away from Hull there's hardly any.
Knowing the difference of DC (fast charge) and AC (slow charge often using own cable), is a big thing. The Corsa E can make use of only 7.4KW AC charging, so the fact that 22Kw was offered, the car will only accept at the slower speed.
All of the AC chargers are generally placed at places you will stop for a longer time and don't need the fast charge.
DC Fast chargers are great for filling up for a fast speedy stop!
The Corsa E seems to be a great small car to have the benefits of a decent range. For me this is a second car for the family.
Finally I wish Gridserve would bring a charging forecourt to the Lincoln/Newark area!

I have a Corsa-e too and taking it for a callout service tomorrow. I wonder if they will update the software, too? Apparently, they need to change the onboard charger. Let's see...
In the real world driving, you probably get 140 to 160 miles depends on motor way driving or urban road driving. During the winter time it drops to only 100 to 120 miles in range. Don’t expect too much from the manufacturer claimed range, say between 55% to 75% if you are lucky.
Weirdly when I "confirm charge" at Tesco podpoints, the app gives me an error message, but does actually confirm, as it does charge for much longer than 15 mins. Also, some Tesco podpoints are free for the 22kw chargers too as well as the 7s
So the grid serve is something that should pop up in more areas. Quick question what was the cost of that stop for the charge on the corsa? Not including the coffee from COSTA’FORTUNE
I live is South Wales and in my area there are lots of charging points in Caerphilly. I'm waiting for my Vauxhall Corsa e as there a waiting list. I know I'll be slightly gutted after driving a Ford Focus ST line but I got to think of the prices of Deisal. I don't use the car much anymore I don't think many in my street do. So far looking at the reviews I'm happy and looking forward to driving 🚗 a battery or EV I heard its very quiet. Not used to Automatics neither 😱 sign of the times.
Got one my self as a commuter car, and gets me to A to B quick, BUT how did you get a sunroof option ??!!!
Grid serve is very much the future... These other ones just seem like nobody looks after them so you never know if they are going to work until you drive to them , which if your running low, can be very stressful 😮

The charge point maybe 22kW but what is the charger in your car? Very few EVs have a 22kW internal AC charger. These days it is cheaper and easier for manufacturers to presume you are DC charging so they only put a 7kW or 11kW AC charger in the car.

What is the max AC charging this EV can take? 7kW/11kW/22kW as the charger isn't the limiting factor limit in the car. All EV's and well all cars ICE or EV are affected by weather/geography/driving style/towing/etc on what range you can get. Any idea if the car will support Plug & Charge in future at all, via a software update say? With your ratings what factors do you use to get the rating? ie: safety lighting, CCTV, reliability, dependability, ICE/EV'ing, facilities(toilets/food/etc), close to main highways/throughways/etc, etc...
Good idea doing reviews on charging stations etc. How about looking at the accessibility an facilities for less mobile drivers/wheelchair users. We do drive as well. Be one of the first at covering some of this area. It would be so helpful to so many.
I'm involved with carpark design and have struggled with clients that EV spaces and the charge units need to be accessible.

Motability are on about more accessible chargers. Currently many are terrible. But then Motability have Vauxhall EV,s leased and in Scotland Arnold Clarks will likely do the servicing or not, and recalls and yet have no Automatic Courtesy Cars. Bad not being able to access chargers, worse being left carless.

As far as charging your car goes, there is a very long way to go.
EV cars are not for the elderly, unless they are up to date.
Certainly not for my parents, who are quite good at driving, but not tech savvy..
Here in Scotland the entire EV public charging network can be accessed via a Chargeplace Scotland RFID card with a bill being sent to you once a month that is cleared by direct debit, so no downloading apps or even the need for a smartphone. I am in the mature age group but with zero interest in tech and don't even own a smartphone, yet my Fiat 500e is proving much easier to manage and drive than my previous car, a Twingo GT particularly as I can charge at home - a bit like having your own private petrol pump!
A few weeks ago at 10:30pm my Zoe was in turtle mode and the satnav was on the blink as was the phone signal. Hoping to get to one in Rochdale, I arrived at a charger in Bury!( satnav was making mistakes). I could not download the app as no 4G signal in the town centre! The battery on the phone went, but I was bold when car suggested 6 miles range, so somehow drove round getting regen which allowed the phone to charge, before ending up at the same 7kWh charger. I tapped into the wifi at the nearby ASDA and finally the app could load. A slow charge allowed transfer to a rapid charger, which I had to sit at for ages to get enough to go home -130 miles away....reaching home after 5am next day. The charger company sent a rfid card, which may be helpful if I ever go to GMcr area to watch football again! I do sound stupid but then at the same time never gave up, though RAC said ...before I got cut off that they would send someone in 2 hours!

It wasn’t a software update. It’s an updated heat pump, revised gear reduction motor and more efficient tyres.

Fossil companies like BP or Shell should not be allowed to neglect their charge points. Some locations are just pathetic, although the new MFG charging hubs have been much better. Hopefully we'll get more of those sites emerging in the UK over the next couple of years.

Trying to get recall actions done is a joke. But so is servicing at Vauxhall dealers left. A lack of EV trained Technicians means a Vauxhall EV might go in for a booked services and leave with a look see and wash and vacuum and even recall work not carried out, or the service indicator reset. The My Vauxhall app will show service incomplete.
Is the slow charging at 33Kw not because it is AC and the Corsa can only use it at 7Kw/h? One of the reasons to get a Zoe
I have always liked the look of the Corsa e, although it's too big a vehicle for where I live, that is if I could get a homecharger, which I can't, and the infrastructure here is near enough non existent, the nearest charger to me, the parking fees are£3 per hour plus the cost of charging.
At present I run a 2011 Smart ForTwo diesel, iv covered around 135000 miles in it so far, it's reliable and I only need to refuel once a fortnight, I would look at an electric Smart but it doesn't do enough mileage between charges, charging and parking charges, it's extremely expensive, dearer than running an average sized petrol powered vehicle, so sadly, I'm going to be living with my Smart ForTwo diesel for the foreseeable future as I can't afford to move and I can't afford to buy an electric vehicle that will cover a distance between charges.
On another note regarding charging, many have said that I won't be driving such long distances so why do I need a vehicle with such a range, the answer is that I work long hours, I don't want to finish a 15 hour shift, drive another hour to get home to try and find a chargepoint that will be available after 6 or 8pm, which my local chargepoint isn't, so I'd like to be able to drive for a week without having to charge my car, and I'd like to be able to run an electric vehicle for around the same sort of cost as my diesel Smart ForTwo, I know it's a lot to ask
I'm still not convinced, there is nothing better than filling up the 3.0l twin turbo diesel jag and racing from scotland to london with reactive cruise set to 99mph, one tank gets me there and most of the way back, with just a splash and dash at the border on the way home, no stops, no buying expensive coffee, no problems. EV's i'm afraid have a long way to go before i buy one, i need a range of 800miles, like my diesel Jaguar 8 speed auto.

I think the car needs to be unlocked to remove the charger, that's how it is on Konas anyway and assume this is the same!
No. If the car is locked, then the charge cable is also locked at both ends.....

??? So was that Corsa one with a 7kW or 11kW on board charger. If the 7kW on board AC charger when on a Tesco 7kW it will show as charging at 21-26 mph until near full. It will take in about 6.1-6.6 kWh in 60 minutes.

Yes @ 50p that is true but many of the chargers are free and home charging is much cheaper whereas you can’t make your own Petrol at home .
@@antoniopalmero4063 totally agree. It was more just to give a equal level to give an idea on value. A lot of chargers are under 50p per KWH but some arnt not so by giving a level it could help people choose which chargers are worth using.
@@JeffersMcJ yep , I’ve been driving electric for over 5 years now , the first 3 years most of the chargers were free like instavolt etc, I use podpoint at tesco quite a bit whilst shopping which are also free. And up until recently my night electric rate was 8p kwh . I do about 10k miles a year and I reckon I’ve saved £1000s over the past few years .👍
If you charge at home, the cost on an EV specific tariff is normally now 7.5p per kwh. And that's after the recent 50% increase in cost. If you do this most of the time, your per mile costs can be less than 2.5p per mile.

Don’t know about the e version but the ICE car had problems. It was very crash on poor surfaces and started showing signs of overheating on Lyme Regis’ very steep hills. This was my daughter’s loan car. She is sticking with her Tesla M3. Enjoyed the video, by the way. Different concept and works well.

heads up the app, you can phone them and they can remote start the charger, these chargers dont work with the app thats why it gives you that message.

@@JeffersMcJ The cost effectiveness of an EV only comes in to play if you can charge at home or work (which unfortunately not everyone is able to do). If an EV owner is charging solely via public rapid chargers then there's not a great deal in it compared to an efficient ICE car.

When are places like Tesco and Sainsbury's going to install a sensible amount of charge points! I mean the four (admittedly free to use) points in the Tesco car park featured is ridiculous. The supermarkets currently sell petrol and diesel so surely they should be investing in what will be their long term replacement? I would like to go electric, but with no way of charging at home, until I can plug in at the supermarket carpark and recharge while I do my shopping once a week, it's just not practical for me, and I'm certainly not going to gamble on whether one of a handful of current chargers is working or unoccupied. Specific membership cards needs to stop too, charging up should be like filling up with fuel as far as payment is concerned. Have you approached your employer to ask if they might consider applying for the available workplace grants to install EV charging? It actually shouldn't cost them a penny, as the grant covers the costs. You would of course pay for the charging, unless your employer is generous. Your Local Authority are also entitled to apply for grants to install EV charging near your home. You would need to approach your Council to initiate the process, but the money is available. Your Council just need to apply for it..... All new EV charging must provide contactless payment facilities by law from this year......so no app needed.
You may be expecting a bit too much too soon. We're basically just 10 years into mass market electric cars. How many petrol stations do you suppose there were 10 years after the motor car first appeared 130 years ago? There are a further 30,000 new public charge connections being installed in 2022 alone, with the aim of around 200,000 by 2030. And don't forget that many EV owners will have their own home chargers too. I have my own charger, and I reckon I will have used public charging maybe 6 times in the last 2 years.......
@@Brian-om2hh thanks for the info. My company has installed three pod point (?) chargers but sadly they are all in use with Tesla company cars. Whilst chargers near/at home would be welcome, it's sometimes difficult to actually find a parking space (roadside parking) at all! My great hope therefore is that the large supermarkets and out of town shopping centres will look to replace their fuel income with charging income in the near future such that we can charge our car once a week whilst doing the weekly shop. I feel it's time that a space to charger ratio was mandated at all shopping centres over a certain size to enable the many thousands like me to charge an electric vehicle relatively easily. At the end of the day it should be a money maker for the supermarkets eventually too.
Money money money, costs a ton of it to suddenly dig up the car park and stick in a whole heap of charge points, not to mention getting the grid supply upgraded to handle all the extra potential draw, and that’s just AC points not even rapids. If it was cheap and easy to do, every single shell and bp garage up and down the country would have twice as many charging points as they do petrol pumps.

Don't forget that 22kw ac charging doesn't mean you'll get that unfortunately.... Early Corsa e's can only charge at 7.5kw onboard and newer ones at 11.5kw Not many cars can Zoe owners can and a few others.....didn't know that myself till the other week.
I'm confused about your ratings of chargers as the Corsa only has a 7kw onboard setup so a 22kw AC wouldn't do a thing for speed, and please be sure to address charger with the correct names Fast and Rapid and please don't encourage people to go off for a weeks shop whilst using a Rapid charger as you should be going to 80% and moving on as we just don't have the network capacity for that yet. Other than that, nice review video.
Great video Tish on charging. Just a note on your driving, you cross you hands too much, and at one point on turning you weren't holding the wheel at all! Just imagine if you hit a pothole while you're turning.... hold the wheel at all times without crossing your hands, it's very easy!!
I drive a Corsa-e & have done for 25,000 miles.. Free Charging with CCS in Scotland or InstaVolt, PodPoint or BP Pulse, When i charge at a 50kW charger, battery hot & weather hot & arriving needing to charge because i am down to maybe 20 miles range i get 33kWh of charge in 60 minutes into the 50kW battery with 45 kW useable. The same with other vehicles with not big batteries. It is strange the speed / time that others say they get.
The downside is that the free charging in Scotland is not likely to be free for much longer. The Scottish Government have done well to keep it free as long as they already have. The scheme they provided to help people buy EV's was also good....interest free loans I think, although I don't know all the details.
@@Brian-om2hh much of Scotland has not been free for a while now with CPS, and even worse with SWARCO . Tax payers have spent over £50 million over 12 years for the fiasco that is public charging in Scotland
@@georgewalker7061 actually the points on CPS are owned by many individual organisations and the prices are set by them, not the government. Many are owned by councils, parks,housing associations etc. CPS is like eBay and the charge points are individual sellers, eBay(CPS) manages all the admin and organises maintenance on owners behalf but it’s the owners who pay the bills. Most of the councils now have pricing structures set but vary wildly in cost. They aren’t normally allowed to make profit though, all proceeds go back to maintaining/upgrading their charging offerings.
@@salibaba 32 local authorities in Scotland and their maintenance contracts are with SWARCO e-volt. And now the chargers are mostly from them. Swarco won the contract for the CPS back office. Transport Scotland and the Scottish Government are on a love in with SWARCO. They are in incompetent. They say they had to take over a broken system. They were there for long enough doing their worst before getting control. Or lack of control.
@@salibaba you will know how a ticket is raised when there is a fault, and how the charger owner then has time to have maintenance done. Fair enough about fair charging for a good provision. But really CPS with SWARCO having the contract is just ridiculous in as far as they can not even get Chargers showing in the correct position even if weekly you notify them. Then it is a joke dealing with CPS at the Michelin Innovation Centre in Broughty Ferry and excuses they come away with. Transport Scotland has given Swarco long enough to get a grip. There is more to Scotland than the Central Belt.
If you check various EV car forums you will see that they all avoid BP Pulse chargers like the plague due to them being so often unreliable. Some work of course but it's usually best to just swerve by and go to one that is more reliable or you could just be wasting your time.

In Northern Ireland most of the chargers are broken and we also have a lack of rapid chargers. In my city there is just two rapid chargers where one of them is broken from two years. It is a joke. We have more electric cars on the road, but I can't see more chargers to be created. Shame. Even my Tesco or Asda doesn't have any chargers.
