FWIW in March 2016 I bought a new Fiesta ecoboost 100 from dealer stock with a great deal (fast forward to 2022 and there's almost no such thing as dealer stock anymore and I could probably sell the Fiesta for what I paid for it - but it's a "keeper"); it is a great fun drive and it's on the optional 17 inch wheels which IMHO look really good and set the car off. Ok I'll throw in my comments based on facts of actually owning and driving all three cars, and not just stuff that I've read. First and as I've said many times and written here on UA-cam (and agreeing with Matt) the Corsa is the best all rounder of these three, as it does feel biggest inside, its very reliable, the ride is comfortable enough, its just good at everything without being class topping in anything and for that reason I'd recommend people to buy one. So, breaking down my own findings based on what I have ACTUALLY owned (present or past) and drove with two of them being brand new cars: * Vauxhall Corsa Club 1.4 auto (2009 car) - I drove this for 3 years, never any reliability issues with it other than a 'niggle' which was the windscreen wiper would make an audible knock when at full swing almost like it was too long, fuel consumption was average, comfort was fine and not soft or hard, interior room was very good, it was an excellent all rounder and for looks then I would call it a good looking car without turning heads. * VW Polo Match 1.4 auto (2012 car) - I drove this for 3 years after the Corsa, never any reliability issues other than 2 replacement windscreen wipers and 1 blown headlamp bulb, it felt a better quality and had a classier inside than the Corsa, it had more solidity of build than the Corsa, comfort was fine without being too hard or soft, fuel consumption was excellent with 62mpg on a given run longer than 30 miles due to its 7 speed DSG box (and I am from a part of the country without motorways), its a superb car and class leading in terms of solidity, its engine is smoother than the Corsa and made the latter feel like an arthritic wheezy slug on the road, but one 'downside' for those that I am aware make an issue of 'looks' then yes I agree the Polo is a dull looking box on wheels (but I don't care in this regard). * Ford Fiesta Edge 1.4 auto (2012 car) - actually this car was second hand is my wife's and has been owned for 2.5 years, however I've driven it many times particularly when she has wanted our Seat Leon with it's increased room for our adult children and grandchildren, it's proven reliable, fuel consumption is average but nowhere near as good as the Polo, comfort is very good and not too soft or hard, interior room is okay but doesn't feel as large as the Corsa, and as for looks to me its stunning indeed the prettiest of these 3 by miles but there's so many Fiesta's on our roads that I doubt they turn any heads. So in summary I would state that all of these 3 cars are excellent cars, none is outstanding in all points, but if you wish for an excellent all rounder go for the Corsa, if it's build quality and superb mpg its the Polo, if its comfort and good looks then has to be the Fiesta. If the money is available and you can make any choice then I would go this way: 1) Polo, 2) Fiesta, 3) Corsa. However, I stress none of these cars are bad cars and I would not argue with anyone who selected differently unless their main criteria is for the looks and I have never gotten that one but maybe I am more mature in years than most who argue in this regard. One deciding factor could be for those having second hand cars and here thinking of ease to obtain parts from say a breakers yard I would imagine the choice would be: 1) Fiesta, 2) Corsa, 3) Polo. Thank you, Paul
Dahlia Man I agree the polo is bets for MPG comfort and quality. I have not seen a corsa though but with the older models before this one they were shocking Amdahl dealers were selling them brand new for £6000
Chatta290 As on said I wrote on experience of actually having owned and driven them all and that's that. However, I did not say the Polo was best for comfort and I feel I gave that to the Fiesta. Personally I have never heard any horror stories with any of them and I am from the UK.
Dahlia Man I am also from the Uk and with potholes and driving at high speeds the polo is far better, more insulated less wind whistle whereas the fiestas chunky wing mirrors cause a lot and the suspension is far more suited to less ideal road conditions e.g. Pothole covered roads. The polo has far better quality aswell not to Mention the depreciation is lower then the fiestas why because it's a VW
Dahlia Man yeah my parents bought both in 2014 valued at the same and this year with the same milage the polo was worth around £1500 more so that shows the VW depreciation tactic is true and its because its a more desirable brand
my15 1.4 le 5 door corsa is really fun to drive over 4k rpm with manual done 30k miles coming up to 2 years in may and had 0 problems with it. i have a service plan and my first year of insurance after passing my test at 17 was £1200 second year 800 would of gone down extra 40 if i didn't get caught going 36 in a 30 then had to do a speed awareness course.
It was a choice between a Polo and Fiesta when i upgraded my car in January. In the end i decided to go with the Fiesta as it was an Ecoboost Titanium version which means better interior and more power. Same upgrade for the Polo would have been too much money.
I just got rid of my first ford fiesta 06 plate and after getting the 66 plate Ford Fiesta S, I'm 18 and 6'3 and surprised that I can get good head room and descent mileage of 46 and that is on the 1L EcoBoost and driving to my Part Time weekend job whilst being a Apprentice can get comfortable and drives nicely
I'm glad the corsa won the test as I'm hoping to buy one. I just love the shape of the 3 door version way better than the other 2 as well. Surely it must have a mpg trip display somewhere. As I haven't heard any body else mention it hasn't got it. It's basic info that you need to know
Ford Fiesta are everwhere i like the look of them bit they are just to common for me and the polo i like the best just cause of the comfort and you can get 1.2 tdi which has a decent amount of power for a first car. Then the corsa and ngl the new ones are decent but it'd still rather the german vw.
Corsas are good because they lose their value quite a bit faster than the other two, with the fiesta being popular with tuners and the polo being a vw.
I agree i think that the Opel (Vauxhall) is better then the other 2 car's. It has better look's and it has better interior. The Volkswagen Polo looks like the same from 2010-2012 zero improvement on the outside looks. The interior is slightly better from the 2010 Polo, but the driving is better. The Ford Fiesta is a good car, the front i think is better then the Opel/Vauxhall but the side and the back are really bad looking. The interior is nice, but not better than the Vauxhall/Opel, but the driving i think is better than the Opel, but the Opel's engine is better then the Ford's. Overall the winner here is the Opel (Vauxhall).
The Corsa is definitly a really good car. I am driving one myself with an 1.3 CDTi with 95HP and 210Nm and OPC Line interior and exterior. Avg. fuel consumption is 5,3l/100km and I drive very aggressive. Especially on 215/45/R17 tires it just handels really good in corners and is really steady driving 200+ km/h.
+MRTOWELRACK - Vauxhall are the same as Opel which in turn is owned by GM but I believe those two brands are for the UK and Europe only. Vauxhall for UK and Opel for Europe both exactly the same cars just different badge.
joe bloggs'Corsas are catching fire'. That's a new one on me and I had one fro 3 years, super reliable it was too. I feel your statement is far too ambiguous so can you give more detail - all Corsas or only certain models/years; all Zafiras etc etc? This always annoys me when people write on you tube with no facts, detail, evidence etc. Its the same as if I say "the moon is made of cheese"!!!
Fantastic! My brother had been learning to drive in a Fiesta just like that one, they are very smart, all 3 are nice cars here, of course the Polos 1.0 3 cylinder engines are from the Up! Overall fine in a lighter city car like that but just a bit too unpowered for anything bigger, the horsepower even for small hatchbacks is best at at least over 80bhp. Would be nice to see a city car one as well
Greetings from South Africa. As a blind person I would prefer the Opel Corsa with the 1.4l 4 cylinder petrol engine and the 4th and 5th generation Polo and the Mk6.5 and early Mk7 Fiesta with the 1.6l 4 cylinder petrol engine.
Missing the Renault Clio and the Peugeot o to have the top 5 best selling cars of the last 15 years. But now with the Kia Rio, can't have better value for money.
@@moonwhistle The Fiesta here might win it, but that's only because it’s the ST-Line model. They should have used a fiesta without the body kit, like the Corsa and polo. If they're gonna use an ST-Line, then it's only right to use the Limited Edition Corsa and Polo R-Line. The Polo definitely looks the best in the R-Line trim by far in my opinion.
Shame. I’d would of preferred the Polo as well. No fan of the Fiesta or Corsa at all personally. So how much was the insurance for the Polo compared to the Fiesta then?
@@nunyvanstta135 before all this I must say this was taken into consideration without BB. Even with BB, pricing was not that significantly different in my area. Polo was around 4.3k whilst the fiesta was 1.8k by directline, I never checked for Corsa as I never had Corsa in mind.
I’d have them all. I have a polo 63 plate and it has nothing to it except Bluetooth. Wish I could have spent an extra grand to get the 15 or over plate.
True. And the last couple of year's models look ten times better than the Ford or Vauxhall/Opel. Although I'm not sure about driving dynamics or engine sizes for the Fabia tbh. Although a friend said the Fabia is by far the more reliable.
The Corsa is just ugly. Polo is boring, even though its good otherwise. I'll take the Fiesta cause not only it looks great but its fun to drive and has tuning potential.
Tuning a car effectively without completely ruining its daily drivability and reliability is very expensive to do, to the point that you'd be better saving your money for something which is faster out of the box anyway, like a used BMW 330Ci or something
I know this is Years later, but for me, it would be the Polo because of the Reliable Vw Engine,, then the Corsa, then the Fiesta, But if the Fiesta doesn't have the Wet Belt engine, that would be second. For me, in 30 years time, the Corsa will be a Classic and Worth Money, they are worth nothing right now, but just watch in 30 years, they will be like a well loved car and probably rare by then..
Just bought a Corsa 1.0L Turbo. Coming from a modified Audi S3 I was shocked at how nippy it actually is. Petrol lasts forever and costs next to nothing to tax it. Very happy with my purchase and this video confirms I chose correctly 🥳
i own a fiesta zetec ecoboost, had it since July 2016, total cost to me, if i decide to buy the car at the end of the 2 year options deal is £13,400. just been on the vauxhall web site and specced a corsa as close to mine as possible, total cost at the end of deal, £16,500. you do the maths.
I don't like the fact that 5-door Corsa can't have electric rear windows (even as option, while even Opel Karl can). That's why I wouldn't want to buy it. It's weird when a car that has heated steering wheel doesn't have (imo) basic equipment
Your comparing a St fiesta to two other 1 liter hatchback cars... Ye there's gonna be a slight difference in fun. Try the 1.4 turbo corsa. The polo tsi 1.2 or 1.4 turbo. And ecoboost fiesta 1.6 turbo. I don't know everything about them but they seem to be the bog standard ones you compared. But ye seems a fair outcome anyway.
@@Thomas-wg3ls I did listen he did mention St, ecoboost etc. And if it isn't quick at all. I still can't think it's more fun so it's basically its the same as the others Alright then? Plus it did say St model, but did say 100 hp so not very clear.
@@ryanclark1605 he says "St line." they're are shit. My dad tries to sell them but no one will touch them cause they're slow (97hp) and are expensive too. Corsa is the best here. Even a corsa vxr is better then a fiesta St. Cheaper and quicker with better interior and exterior
@@Thomas-wg3ls yes and I did say I don't know much about them. Never owned a Ford don't plan to either. Only ever owned a corsa I have a 1.4 limited edition I get vxr if I had the money.. Ye I do think they bland and slow for the money to be honest.
Trè 300 the polo holds its value quite a bit better after 2 years a polo and fiesta with the same mileage and value the polo will be worth £1500 more. This is accurate information
I think you need to have your license for a year before you can get the 1 year free insurance ..and to be honest the Corsa is a pretty good car..I got the 2016 limited edition with the 1.4 engine ..it's fun to drive, has good equipment and looks good inside and out
I disagree. As we all know, new drivers are the worst drivers, and are the most likely to be involved in an accident, or have near-misses, due to entering corners too quickly. Therefore, the Fiesta would be the better first car, because a you have a better chance of making it around a corner at speed, whereas the Corsa would just understeer off the road. Especially given that a new driver would be using the pull-push steering technique, and would probably be panic-braking.
Owned the pre-facelifted Fiesta, it was a brilliant car, on a back twisty road it's a really fun car to drive at any speed. Now own a 208 ,personally I can see all the dials & I'm really happy with it, a bit more damping than the Fiesta on big potholes & the turbocharged 1.2 is punchy & nice to use(for reference I had the 1.25 Fiesta).
VW polo 2016 without a turbo engine, are you sure about that? Last time I checked this model had a 1.2tsi engine with 95 hp. I think the Polo, Ibiza, and Fabia are among the best cars in this class, Ford Fiesta is nowhere near as good as any of these, try sitting in it for over an hour and you'll know why. Plus it's noisy.
the 1 thing that i hate about my corsa is that it dont have MPG display, when your watching your pennies it would be the greatest thing considering lots of young people purchase corsa's.
Can we have an updated version of this video? because both the Ford Fista and the Golf Polo got a facelift ( i'am not sure if the Vauxhall also got one or not).
Just for curiosity, you should make the same test with the Fiesta ST vs Polo GTI vs Corsa OPC (or whatever name it has on Vauxhall, I only know the Opel's one). Even though I'm sure the Fiesta ST would win, I may be wrong and btw it would be a nice review. Think about it Mat ;)
BMW KING why? Because the interior is nice? If you’re going for the look of it Then yeah go for it because it’s really nice, but if you’re looking to buy it for speed and fun then don’t bother, it’s a quite a dull car to drive, the fiesta Eco boost obviously has a boring interior but very fun to drive and has a very sporty feel to it
3 years have passed, the polo and fiesta still fetch a few grand, that corsa is now worth 50p.
Brilliant for us, cheapest second hand car is the better of the three
Good for us used buyers xD
Chris Leake only problem is you’ll get called a nonce in a corsa
Owen W.02 😂😂😂😂 yet to see a corsa driver with a girl over the age of 15 in the passenger seat to be fair

So, breaking down my own findings based on what I have ACTUALLY owned (present or past) and drove with two of them being brand new cars:
* Vauxhall Corsa Club 1.4 auto (2009 car) - I drove this for 3 years, never any reliability issues with it other than a 'niggle' which was the windscreen wiper would make an audible knock when at full swing almost like it was too long, fuel consumption was average, comfort was fine and not soft or hard, interior room was very good, it was an excellent all rounder and for looks then I would call it a good looking car without turning heads.
Chatta290 Very well put, and I forgot to mention depreciation which of course would be another factor to consider.
Same upgrade for the Polo would have been too much money.
what for a cambelt £1100
@@kenwarriner69 Can you explain a little more to what the heck you are in about?
I'm a ford fan so i go with fiesta anyway :))
I’ll take the fiesta! Love the st line and the st
I just got rid of my first ford fiesta 06 plate and after getting the 66 plate Ford Fiesta S, I'm 18 and 6'3 and surprised that I can get good head room and descent mileage of 46 and that is on the 1L EcoBoost and driving to my Part Time weekend job whilst being a Apprentice can get comfortable and drives nicely
i’ve got a 2007 corsa and am about toy upgrade to a 2016 corsa!! love the car
I'm planning to 2007 corsa do you recommend it ?
11:13, my favourite supermini won the test 😸
don't know why people buy these small cars and then complain about them having not a lot of room in the back??? just buy a proper size car!!
Come on matt...its a small car and you expect an elephant can fit in the back seat?
I'm glad the corsa won the test as I'm hoping to buy one. I just love the shape of the 3 door version way better than the other 2 as well. Surely it must have a mpg trip display somewhere. As I haven't heard any body else mention it hasn't got it. It's basic info that you need to know
Ford Fiesta are everwhere i like the look of them bit they are just to common for me and the polo i like the best just cause of the comfort and you can get 1.2 tdi which has a decent amount of power for a first car. Then the corsa and ngl the new ones are decent but it'd still rather the german vw.
Good times at Vauxhall.
You need to do another group test between the new versions of these cars, even though the new polo will be the clear winner.
Opel all the way. Opel corsa 1.4gls is running for 16 years without any problems
Opel/Vauxhall is come back 👊👊 .
The fiesta's main downfall is the interior but i think the 2017 model solves that, i just hope it drives as well if not better..
Ooh Arhh the 2017's main downfall will be the exterior. Ugliest thing ever
AHCy0 I agree its not as sharp, the 2017 ST is the only model that looks okay imo.
All of these cars are hell to insure as first cars though
The skoda Fabia looks so sad.
Corsa us better between the Classic polo and the fiesta looks old inside.
Fiesta I had one, Polo nice but a bit boring, Corsa will catch on fire
Please can you state why you have written the Corsa will 'catch on fire' as that's a bold statement to make?
If your in the UK you would have seen it on Watchdog Corsas are catching fire, just like the Zafiras. Buy a Vauxhall Opel at your own risk.
Until UA-cam, I'm embarrassed to say I didn't know about Vauxhall. Asian cars have really taken over Canadian roads.
I really like the vauxhall corsa limited edition the original white 3dr 1.2
It's funny seeing all the VW and Ford fan boys refusing to accept their cars are overrated.
How are you able to see what you are typing?
@@yandisamtshali7228 to put it simply, text-to-speech software
You need to do one for 2018 versions for Polo and Fiesta
They have done one
Missing the Renault Clio and the Peugeot o to have the top 5 best selling cars of the last 15 years.
But now with the Kia Rio, can't have better value for money.
You should yank on the other cars center armrests.
I like how this video proves Vauxhalls aren't always terrible cars sometimes they can be really good
I like the Fiesta interior.
My dad has the opel (Vauxhall) corsa 2017 and it's so fun I love when my dad gives me a ride I love Opel (Vauxhall ) well done Vauxhall (Opel)
Would love the communities opinion on vw polo vs seat ibiza - i kind of like the exterior of the ibiza more but is it worth it?
let's be brutally honest, the fiesta looks the best out of these 3
I think it looks the worst of the three. An ugly egg shaped thing with messy lines and angles. I think the Polo is vastly more pleasing looking.
The Corsa also comes with the Check Engine Light
are they that bad ?
@@ivdee The three-cylinder is crap. I've built them while I worked at Opel (Vauxhall).
worst car ive ever had for managment light coming on was a ford
Dear Mat :-) as always great video but please do somethimes a drag race at the end ;-) thank you
I wanted a Polo but the insurance is just too expensive so I went for the fiesta.
HAHA! As an Opel driver, I love this video. Thanks Matt. I drive an Opel Adam, also a 1.0T, it's just lovely
Thanks for mentioning Azerbaijan 🇦🇿
the group test should be :
hyundai i20 v mazda 2 v suzuki baleno
Why?
Yudha Bagaskara not the Baleno
i20
I would actually want the 3 door over the 5 of any of these cars so none of my mates will ask for lifts
Exactly what I'm going to do when i pass my test and get my first car😂😂
Lol
Wow, what a selfish culture... If they were your mates you would give them a lift anytime they really needed it. Sad little man...
I totally agree, the Polo just looks terrible tbh. Fiesta drives well but interior is outdated. And Corsa is just the best all rounder
Polo looks fantastic, Fiesta and Corsa have a bit of too much girly look
I’d have them all. I have a polo 63 plate and it has nothing to it except Bluetooth. Wish I could have spent an extra grand to get the 15 or over plate.
I think that the skoda fabia is better as it is bigger and cheaper!
True. And the last couple of year's models look ten times better than the Ford or Vauxhall/Opel. Although I'm not sure about driving dynamics or engine sizes for the Fabia tbh. Although a friend said the Fabia is by far the more reliable.
lapamful yes not great to drive but if you don't care about that then fabia is great, but to drive the fiesta is the best
Galeere2 yes and also cheaper along with skoda's great realiabillity rate
Fabia is really cheap inside. Everything is hard and nasty.
Not everything... But some of the plastics yes the rest is all nice a VW. I volunteer for SKODA.
Go to a foreign country and see how many people can fit in a hatchback. I’ve been in one with 5 adults + 2 kids
i believe you can get a 1L or 1.2L turbo charged polo with more than a 100 hp it's much fun !!
The Corsa is just ugly. Polo is boring, even though its good otherwise. I'll take the Fiesta cause not only it looks great but its fun to drive and has tuning potential.
BlackWind fiesta fan boy
BlackWind fiesta is too boring inside
BlackWind if you get limited edition corsa that looks amazing!!!!
Is the Corsa really that ugly i admit the colour is horrible
Tuning a car effectively without completely ruining its daily drivability and reliability is very expensive to do, to the point that you'd be better saving your money for something which is faster out of the box anyway, like a used BMW 330Ci or something
Don’t know if anyone noticed he was comparing the bottom spec interior of the fiesta with the top spec version on the corsa
My 1998 Fiesta puts a bigger smile on my face than my 1998 BMWis. Ford knows how to make a car fun
I want to see a review of the new Toyota Yaris
Armaan Chowdhury It's not new, it's just the really old model with a new face.
Try it now again
I know this is Years later, but for me, it would be the Polo because of the Reliable Vw Engine,, then the Corsa, then the Fiesta, But if the Fiesta doesn't have the Wet Belt engine, that would be second. For me, in 30 years time, the Corsa will be a Classic and Worth Money, they are worth nothing right now, but just watch in 30 years, they will be like a well loved car and probably rare by then..
Corsa is the coolest car of these three!
Just bought a Corsa 1.0L Turbo. Coming from a modified Audi S3 I was shocked at how nippy it actually is. Petrol lasts forever and costs next to nothing to tax it. Very happy with my purchase and this video confirms I chose correctly 🥳
Which would be best for students?
Fiesta is nice but the flat load bay in the polo is a huge win over. Not even considering the corsa, just no.
i own a fiesta zetec ecoboost, had it since July 2016, total cost to me, if i decide to buy the car at the end of the 2 year options deal is £13,400.
just been on the vauxhall web site and specced a corsa as close to mine as possible, total cost at the end of deal, £16,500.
you do the maths.
and the polo bluemotion, cheapest car with 1 litre turbo, £17,750 including sat nav and voice control(which my car has)
I don't like the fact that 5-door Corsa can't have electric rear windows (even as option, while even Opel Karl can). That's why I wouldn't want to buy it. It's weird when a car that has heated steering wheel doesn't have (imo) basic equipment
Konrad Kowalczyk it's not that big of a deal
It is for me :p
Then maybe you really should tell momy to not buy a Corsa if you enjoy playing with the electric windows on the backseat so much.
Steven Steven I think your comment is just stupid. I am a driver myself and this just bothers me.
But ye seems a fair outcome anyway.
that wasnt an st. was a zetec st line. theyre really not quick at all. just a sports trim. listen to what hes saying
ZzZ mate its a fiesta zetec s not st
If you left the polo's boot floor on the bottom then put seat back down and you too would have a big seat lip so no no flat load space
Vauxhall corsa is the best for new drivers because it's cheaper insurance ..Corsa insurance group 3- polo 7 and fiesta is usually 13/14
Trè 300 the polo holds its value quite a bit better after 2 years a polo and fiesta with the same mileage and value the polo will be worth £1500 more. This is accurate information
I think you need to have your license for a year before you can get the 1 year free insurance ..and to be honest the Corsa is a pretty good car..I got the 2016 limited edition with the 1.4 engine ..it's fun to drive, has good equipment and looks good inside and out
Trè 300 I don't know about that, we had the free insurance and it covers around three people so its good to have as a incentive to buy
I have a Cora nice looking car no complaints here.
ONSTAR has been out over 10 years .
Well done car wow
Watching the review, I’m from Azerbaijan and didn’t even realise about flag until you mentioned lol good eye for detail there
Owned the pre-facelifted Fiesta, it was a brilliant car, on a back twisty road it's a really fun car to drive at any speed. Now own a 208 ,personally I can see all the dials & I'm really happy with it, a bit more damping than the Fiesta on big potholes & the turbocharged 1.2 is punchy & nice to use(for reference I had the 1.25 Fiesta).
Yey it's Vauxhall again, woo hoo.
Who carries 3 adults in the back of a small hatchback?!
Compact people
My mate
VW polo 2016 without a turbo engine, are you sure about that? Last time I checked this model had a 1.2tsi engine with 95 hp.
I think the Polo, Ibiza, and Fabia are among the best cars in this class, Ford Fiesta is nowhere near as good as any of these, try sitting in it for over an hour and you'll know why. Plus it's noisy.
Fiesta is a way better car, try not falling asleep while driving one for a hour and you'll know why.
Ford Fiesta is my dream car as I passed in one 😂
Same passed in a red one
The Vauxhall is most commonly seen in a McDonald's car park 😂
the 1 thing that i hate about my corsa is that it dont have MPG display, when your watching your pennies it would be the greatest thing considering lots of young people purchase corsa's.
Hmm don't but on latest drag race of polo gti Fiesta st and gr Yaris the polo wins but the gr and st got more hp polo is lighter
I would like a vw polo
BMW KING why? Because the interior is nice? If you’re going for the look of it
Then yeah go for it because it’s really nice, but if you’re looking to buy it for speed and fun then don’t bother, it’s a quite a dull car to drive, the fiesta Eco boost obviously has a boring interior but very fun to drive and has a very sporty feel to it
Corsa well underrated
In this class best car Hyundai i20. But Vw polo have an ageless design.
