Dave Darcy, the shooter producer of MAD TV and Editor at Large of Australian Adventure Bike Magazine buys a 2023 Heritage edition Husqvarna FE 501 with the intent on building a cracking adventure mount.
The build is now complete and Dave and Nugget head to the rugged Victorian High Country with two new mates, Tom the Stalker and Flash Jamie for a two day motorcycle adventure.
It's Daves first ride on his newly built Husky, let's see how she performs.

So happy to see another singles adventure. Missed seeing Nugget glad to see him again. The northern trip on the 701's was also one of the best series of videos I have seen. Thank you. Yeah, you rarely see me in these type of adventures. They were good guys. Nugget has another trip planned down there that's tougher. Knowing Nugget it will be past there skill level. That down hill was right on their limits.

An idea- since MADTV are about the only ones who do proper riding of adv bikes over multiple days on proper tracks and go into detail about stuff like suspension, how about a camera mount down by the side so we can see tyre and suspension movement. Would make for some cool shots I reckon.
Yes I do that. Yes I had the camera, I was just having so much fun I didn't use it. I will be doing that for thr build video.

I love how Nug just smashes through, no line choices needed. And that's a sweet retro look husky. Had several of the vintage versions in that colorway.

Wow nice! I own a Husky501...wonderful bike for those adventures. Love to get some upgraded suspension....only upgraded the springs to support my Wisconsin Cheesehead weight. Amazing riding. Nugget is Legend....

Well the husky's and KTM's did extremely well, lots of holy crap moments and great scenery, another excellent video gentlemen! Nugget takes out the lead rider award, followed closely by Dave, Nugget doesn't like to be overtaken hey Dave 🤣

The Dog Rooter Family did a 10 day trip around the TAS recently. What a place to ride trails but The Chief Dog Rooter suffered a little and needed some bush mechanic work!

Tossing up 501 or 701 bit old so just tracks nothing scary.
I think 701 bit easier on the distance will handle it a bit better.

Dave and team, another great video. One big thing that's missing are the names of the tracks. Adventure riders like me that follow you use these vids to plan rides, looking for tracks that are 'must do' and sometimes ones to avoid. Even if you don't mentioning them while filming - it would be great if you add the track names in the editing (pop up's would be great).
Looked like a fun couple days in VHC.
We provide hints but generally we don't provide track names. Every now and again they'll be an exception.
That slow motion crash at 14.35 didn't even need a speed ramp, new Guiness World record 🙂

Good to see all the 500's carried the luggage for a multi day adventure well, I have a 501 adventurised a little its like cheating on fire trails.
They are a great bike for there targeted riding I dont think I could do huge K's outback adventure on one though.

Awesome ride fellas! Well worth the wait to view. My parts have started arriving for the 501, hopefully I'll have it sorted in time for the Giant Loop Rally, 1st weekend of June. I'm going to give the Adventure Spec "tower" a try. Just a simple addition to mount my Garmin Montana 700 and a USB.
I'm interested to hear your thoughts after putting your 501 build through some paces Dave. Nugget seemed to get along with his 501 very well.

Yet another epic from MADtv! On my second watching, this is among my favs (together with london-sydney, himalayan, and tropical punch -but really all of the feature length shows). Dave, sorry to be pestering you, but can we hope in a video with your final considerations about 501 vs 701? Will you keep them both? Or does the 501 “subsumes” the 701?
I've got my on the Norden Expedition, which really complicates things. I'm over biked and something has to go. The 501 suspension shits all over the 701s now. For the Tropical Punch series we just put in appropriate springs. The 701 is such a mile muncher, but for outback touring you need a twin. Tough times :). But you'll be the first to know, together with the other 164 thousand subscribers. :)

Good to see some views of the VIC high country. Thanks for posting. Would be better if you had told us where you went, the road names etc. Next time you go up Mount Pinnibar, try it in the opposite direction, in the wet, at night! That would be a great video!
Also, some of your buddies need to spend less on bling and more on rider training! I’m looking at you Six Days and 701! Get yourself on the Chris Birch rider training video package and it’ll change your life!
