  • Lisa Gasteen performing "Dich, teure Halle" from Richard Wagner's opera Tannhäuser during the 1991 final of the Cardiff Singer Of The World competition.
    The Australian soprano won the Main Prize that year.
    Lisa Gasteen made her operatic debut in 1985 with the Lyric opera of Queensland. After winning the CSOTW competition she made her British debut at Scottish Opera, which was followed by invitations to perform all over Europe and the US. In the Australia Day Honours of 2006, she was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) and founded the Lisa Gasteen National Opera School, an intensive, four-week summer school with international guest coaches, in 2011.
