I found a trick with the chia seeds. Put the boiled seeds in the blender, it will release the gel much easier. You’ll still need the stocking but it worked.
@@Melanite_Nomads no need to boil chia seeds, you can just soak them in water for like 30 mins and you will see it thickens. Then blend for a few seconds to loosen the seeds, then squeeze.
This one is nice, but the work on those chia seeds looks way challenging. I've been using the flaxseed with olive oil, rosemary and carrot essential oil - I L O V E IT!!! Thanks so much for sharing your recipes!
It is definitely a pain in the butt lol but worth a lil extra work because of all the added hair benefits. You're Welcome, now if I can only hurry up with this hair care line. So many people inbox me saying they appreciate the recipes but don't have the time or patience to make it themselves.
thank u for this video I twist my hair and this also helps my hair grow and it's healthy for my hair I boil my seeds down in rice water for extra benefits and growth I have mix hair because I am mixed race and i just love this recipe thank u so much
Thank you for this video. I made the gel yesterday. I washed and retwisted my locs, first time DIY😍 I also followed the blending of chia to make the extraction easier. Thank you thank you thank you 💕
NaturalBeauty0214 here is one on Amazon, but you can find them at World Market or Bed Bath and Beyond for between $10-15 www.amazon.com/dp/B01N78X92P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_RRUPzbTM6WKHT
thank you for all the details in this video. I have been watching all of your videos since before I got locs 18 months ago. I really appreciate your channel, it has helped me so much. thanks for doing this for us.
++ I watched your other video and I love your journey. That's for the DIY lock products. I started with locs in 2004, so I've had them for a while. My problem was leaving the US and trying to find products in the stores or eBay. I like DIT so I looked and found you and you are a blessing. I just ordered off eBay and two days later searched the Internet. I could have saved some money starting of the year and had beer products from things I have around the house already!
Hi, nice to see more UK UA-camrs out there! I'm from London. I've been using Aloe, Flaxseed, and Okra with Vedic oil for a while and I really like it! I didn't know you could use Chia seeds in your hair as well! I'm going to add them to my recipe! In regards to the difficulty you were having extracting the Chia seed gel, perhaps try a fine plastic sieve; this will allow you to manipulate the seeds with your hands more efficiently and work more productively. ok, gotta run! Off to do my hair! Seeya! 😄
You did that! 👍🏽😉 I love it. Your hair is so beautiful and healthy. I have twists. I may think about getting locs at some point. Wonderful job. I subscribed. 😊
a strainer or probably cheese cloth would be easier to squeeze it out. I feel so bad for tossing old expired flax seeds I could’ve used them for hair treatment.
Not going with locs however I am twisting , wash n go , natural braids ,twists and styles .u think this would be ideal for those as well ? I love the vid by the way 😍
Your locs are getting so much longer and there so healthy I definitely need to invest in making my own natural loc gel and where did you get your aloe Vera gel from?
Thank you! Its really a combination of a few things. Eating healthier, taking vitamins, and using natural products. I understand that not everyone has the patience or time to make their own hair products. I will be launching my products soon, stay tuned!
Gorgeous hair! Can you tell me how long your retwist lasts with this gel? I loved flaxseed gel on my loose natural hair to style, but I'm wondering if my retwist would last a month with this gel. Thanks
I just tried this ^^ I boiled 2 cups of water with a quarter cup of ground chia seeds (used a coffee grinder on the 'fine' setting). The seeds are much smaller, more of a gritty texture than actual seeds. Less likely to show up in hair.
I found a trick with the chia seeds. Put the boiled seeds in the blender, it will release the gel much easier. You’ll still need the stocking but it worked.
Thank you! I'll try that next time
Do I boil them first or after I blend them?

It has taken me 15 years to discover this natural homemade stuff. I am loving it!❤️ Thanks you
Your hair is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing this tutorial.
@KizzyK Thank you.
What can I use to grow my dread lock

Looove this!!!!. will be making this today for my 2nd month re-twist.
Thank you for this video. I made the gel yesterday. I washed and retwisted my locs, first time DIY😍

Thank you thank you thank you 💕
Invest in a coffee press. You will do less work and can press the gel from the chia seeds easier.
MissZ1KCMO Coffee press...never heard of it. I will definitely look into it! Thank you 😘

You are a genius! This makes so much sense and helps you get the most out of each batch. Thank you!! 💐
@@brithegoddess how do you use the coffee press to get the gel out?
@@lvncsr6166 you use s coffee press to ground spices , seeds ,, & herbs . Not adding the gel just the chia seeds

You're Welcome @mshero0211 Thanks for your support and riding with me so long!
Thank you for the video. I just started my locs Saturday and I am ready for the 3rd journey
Maybe grinding the chia before boiling might make it easier to extract. I'm going to try this, thank you for sharing the recipe 💓

Thank you for the recipe
YW.
Your hair looks amazing thanks for the info
letting it double in size or and blending it should very well help with straining
I can never get the flaxseed to come out like that..lol
That for Sharing
Your locs are so beautiful and shiny. I really like that. Is that because of the flaxseed and chia gel?
Thanks @SuziQ...It from using all natural products and taking hair, nail, and skin vitamins.
NaturalBeauty0214 what kind of hair, nail, and skin vitamin do you take and often do you take it
i only use 2 table spoons of flaxseeds and it makes more than enough gel for my entire end you can try reducing the waste
love it,and btw Ive never heard of Aloe Vera Jelly Ill have to find that 😉your locs are beautiful
Yaaas, thank youuuuu! Now which one holds better?
They hold the same, this one has more benefits which is worth the extra work to me.
Use a blender to mix chia seed . It s much easier to get all gel😍❤️
Great tip!!!
Before or after boiling ?
Subscribed, thanks, do you have a recommendation for cold pressing? How does this gel smell?
Never tried Chia seed🤔 gotta try that 💁thanks for sharing 🙋
You're Welcome!

Does the gel leave any residue?
Is this something you could use on your edges to tie down at night for your locs?
Valita S. yes
Do you use this this gel for retwist all the time ?
thank you for sharing
Great job!!!!
Beautiful!
can i use flax seed gel without the intention of twisting my locs, i just want some good homemade gel
fate. Zero93 absolutely
a strainer or probably cheese cloth would be easier to squeeze it out.
I feel so bad for tossing old expired flax seeds I could’ve used them for hair treatment.
Do you ever get product buildup from the gel
no
Do your retwist last long time?
Your skin and hair 👌😍
A muslin cloth works better with chia seeds.
Very Beautiful I Love your Hair
Love your hair. Any tips on getting rid of lint an product build up?
Loc brushing helps to remove lint. Also using light products that doesn’t cause buildup or lint to stick to locs
I have Sisterlocks I would love to know what did you use to make your favorite oil.thanks
Love the vid and your channel!
thank you!
Hi could I use this gel mixture to moisturizer my hair like a once a month thing?
You can re-twist with it once a month. However it’s not a moisturizer product that you can use strictly to moisturize your locs with
Amazing!!!!!
Would you recommend this over just the flax seed gel for a better hold???
The hold is the same, this one has more health benefits for the hair
this is a really cool recipe but I don't know if I can use it on my locks since I interlock. but do you still use henna on you're hair?
I use it on mine and I interlock mine
You should put this on the market to sale..
MasotankaTV soon!
I need u to PLEASE come get my hair together.
can i use this to lay my edges?
Aspen Quevo yes but don’t over apply because it will flake on the edges
When making this homemade jel does it matter how much water you use or the other way around ?
Angel Sykes I usually use 1 to 4 ratio.
NaturalBeauty0214 ok thank you also is the aloe Vera gel optional because I couldn’t find any at the beauty store
Nice
Not going with locs however I am twisting , wash n go , natural braids ,twists and styles .u think this would be ideal for those as well ? I love the vid by the way 😍
yes
Did you say keep it stored in the fridge?
Yes
So this gel only last for 2 weeks ?
yes
Thank you for sharing 🍑

NaturalBeauty0214 Thank you so thats completely normal then? I'll just have to get a retwist then Sigh"
Gorgeous hair! Can you tell me how long your retwist lasts with this gel? I loved flaxseed gel on my loose natural hair to style, but I'm wondering if my retwist would last a month with this gel. Thanks
+BTalise87 Thank You! 1-2 weeks depending on how active I was after the retwist. I doubt it lasts a whole month though.
I wonder how the chia seed gel would turn out if you ground them up first 🤔🤷
I just tried this ^^
I boiled 2 cups of water with a quarter cup of ground chia seeds (used a coffee grinder on the 'fine' setting). The seeds are much smaller, more of a gritty texture than actual seeds. Less likely to show up in hair.
Hi. What are the benefits of using chia seeds. I have only use flaxseed with great result but have seen chia used what's the difference. Thanks
Jade seaman Hi Chia seeds have more omega and more vitamins so overall it’s healthier
Why didn’t I find this video 7 years ago when I was 10?🤦♀️
Maybe use less chia seeds?
Maybe if the chia is boiled a little longer the gel may release more easily . Just my suggestion. 🦋
Hey! I was wondering does this ever leave Any build up in your locs?
I've never experience any build up. I add a good amount of oils to the mixture too
NaturalBeauty0214 Okay, awesome hun! Thanks.
