So she asked to be taken out of the running. Shonda and co, felt slighted that she said that. And it opened up a floodgate situation that essentially got her fired. It was ridiculous, especially now when women can speak up and disagree and critique their work or show. Katie didn't get to do that at the time and was labeled difficult and it's sad.

Shonda didn’t do anything to her. She merely removed a big star to protect her staff writers. Heigl had made a stupid and unnecessary statement that made it impossible for the writers room to get an Emmy that year. Writers are the most under appreciated part of showbiz and winning an Emmy as a young writer can change your career. But because she was a rising film actress it didn’t occur to her that she was hurting peoples careers. She’s still never apologised to “the little people”. She just plays victim and kisses up to Shonda to get back on her shows. Even Ellen at the end is telling her she messed up but she can now be forgiven. Stop using your parasocial relationship with Heigl to deny she did a bad thing.

Izzie’s departure from Grey’s will always be one of the saddest parts of the show for me. The fact she was never given a proper send off (for valid reasons, that being) always felt so wrong for how big of a character she was - she truly was my favourite and I always would pray they brought her back even just for an episode.

I know. I’m actually glad she left Grey’s Anatomy just bcuz they were starting to make her character of Izzy Steven’s become really annoying. And whiny and I was starting to not like her anymore. But once she broke off and started doing movies and stuff I loved her movies everything she starred in I loved it thought she was a great actress. So yea back then they were not letting her character grow very much at all. It became very limited. I knew there was a reason I loved her and after hearing this conversation between them just solidified that. ❤ But I love Greys Anatomy. I’ll be 28 in 2 days. And I’ve been watching Greys Anatomy since i was 10 years old. And I was 10 years old the year this show aired back in 2005. And im still watching it. So crazy that I’ve gotten to grow with show over the years through my childhood. I thought it was funny when Ellen mentioned her daughter about wanting to watch it and her daughter being in 6th grade. I was like yea I watched it when I was 10 my dad let me watch it with him and of course if they were scenes I couldn’t watch he just said shield my eyes. Though I don’t remember having to do it a lot bcuz now thinking about it since the show is on ABC my dad probably thought we’ll when it comes to the sex scenes they don’t really show a lot anyway so yea haha. And blood and stuff didn’t bother me and my dad never said anything about having to shield my eyes for those scenes. And guess what I was never traumatized by any of it. But it’s probably bcuz I knew it was just a show and not real. 👍🫶🫶🫶😊

But like she said, Katherine was just ahead of her times and was a confident, ballsy woman and for someone like that, I think it would have felt so wrong to stand by and watch something wrong and not say or do anything about it.
