My friend and I recently just got out of Moria. We played back in the day when in school/college and have now reached the same spot where we stopped playing before back in 2010 due to life and all other things. Now here we are now in our near mid 30s at the same spot in Lothlorien and it's fantastic and we're looking forward to getting further in the game. It really is a classic and I mean that in the best sense! There is no other mmo like it in my opinion when it comes to the world. You can truly get lost within it. The classes are really intriguing for all types of play styles. I still have my lvl 65 captain from when I originally played the game and now i have my level 62 beorning from my recent play through. Its always exciting to see where the game will take me each time I log on, I think thats the main thrill of the game, the path is yours.
Lotro has a way of immersing you in the world that newer MMO’s can’t even begin to emulate. New MMO’s are more concerned with big flashy damage numbers popping up on the screen, making you a juggernaut amongst common rabble, generic story lines and uninteresting world building. LOTRO is everything an MMO is supposed to be and the fact that its lore and world design feels Tolkien certified just takes your immersion to the next level.

Which i used to get shared storage and a universal crafting tool. After that i will buy character slots and use even more characters to farm lotro points and get the entire store for free
Long time player here, agree with most everything you've stated. Currently have a level 50 hunter and a level 13 burglar on the Angmar legendary server. The immersion is so great really because of the richness of the world and how well crafted the story is. You get the feeling that you are in a world and a story that is much larger than you, but are able to make an impact for the greater good of Middle Earth. And like you said, the simple questing and leveling is very satisfying. I would also add that the story only gets better into the higher levels. Angmar storyline, for instance, is deep, fascinating, powerful, and even tragic at times. And because there is SOOOO much story building up to the epic events of the LotR books, like the battle of Pelennor fields (which is at level 105), the epic feeling of the story is multiplied. NPCs from Angmar, Lothlorien, Enedwaith, and Rohan make it into that epic battle, as do some of the bad guys, which makes the allies feel like old friends and the enemies like old nemeses, adding even further to the story quality. Oh, and don't get me started on the crafting system. Also a super classic and satisfying MMO feeling.
I have played Dungeons and Dragons Online since it was released and it's from the same developer, but LOTRO is their "primary" focus. DDO is by far my favorite game of all time so I can only imagine how good LOTRO is. I wish I'd gotten into it years ago but maybe its a good time to try it out.
You can basically farm 115LP an hour with a new character. Considering expansion is around 1500-2500LP, not that bad of a deal actually. It's grind, yes but for each hour of grind you get some quality content in each expansion. Also, for people who don't want to grind they can just pay few bucks to enjoy your favorite game.

My most time spent and best memories is from Lineage2 before 2010, damn that game was amazing, you had to play with others to progress, social thing was number one, lotro and Lineage2 are best mmorpg's ever made for me :)
I’ve been playing Lotro for a while and I think the main thing I like is the gameplay feel. When you play the classes (especially Dps) at higher levels. The skills just flow in a way unlike any other mmo I’ve played. In the absence of lag. The flow of doing your “rotation” flows so much better than other mmos.
Just like in GW2, LOTRO lets you to earn premium currency without spending any dime on the game (tho I'd recommed to support and sub once at least). In GW2 you convert your gold to gems while in LOTRO you do "deeds" which is basically kill X amount of mobs, discover POI in the X zone, Complete X quests, and the good part is... while you do those deeds you also farm the so called "Virtue XP" which is needed for end game as well. It's a win win situation. You cannot go wrong with this game. The only downside of LoTRO is the lag, but SSG is working really hard to fix this. Also LoTRO is in TOP 5 this year for most updated MMO's. If you're new to the game, and not sure what to buy. it is a must... - Journeyman Riding - account bound. - Any mount - account bound. - Bags - account bound. In that order. Account bound in LOTRO works, if you buy all these things they will be available on any server you roll, all will be unlocked to you.

I'm trying to come back after a very long lay off, I think the level cap was around lv75. My biggest gripe with the game when I left it was the bloat and clutter, so many systems and currencies... It seems to be worst now. The game really needs a good sweep! get rid of the mounted combat/skirmishing/barter tokens/legendary weapons etc it all takes away from beautiful experience. It's totally unnecessarily intimidating for new players to have so much going on. P.S I miss when different weapons had different attack speeds and damage per hit.

I decided to give it a try earlier this year but I just can't get over the user interface. The game itself looks pretty good but my god the UI is such an eye sore of a clustered mess that I couldn't enjoy the game. They should really focus on updating that.
I think monthly fee games are way out of the scene now. 15 usd a month.... vs 25 USD a free for life full GW2 with full features? i'll just stay with GW2
the real question is how much time do you really play that 25 usd expansion maybe paying 30 usd for 2 months of lotro is more fun than what you get in gw2
The problem with the game ui suck the combat is so bad graphic are so old but i starting playing the game and start to love it but they need to make a better ui the combat need a major rework it's and the lag is so bad and character model is so bad need rework and also the world map is bad
LOTRO is UNpLAYABLE on modern hardware, in 4k resolution the interface and scaling is so small you cant even read it. The maps are so blurry you cant see anything. if you play any resolution above 1440p DO NOT TOUCH this game! maybe when ur on potato pc 10+ years old this is worth it but otherwise there are MUCH better mmos on the market
Love everything about the game that was created over the years, and the devs are still pushing out new content, but lets not turn a blind eye that powers at Daybreak or someone in SSG is still pushing a "diverse" agenda and they spent an entire year pushing female dwaves and pushing characters of specific skin color on the playerbase at ever turn not for the benefit of the "lore". They have stopped or slowed down a lot though ever since Amazon's Ring of Power has bombed. Which I hope continues and they focus on the lore/books.
This fighting with lower mobs for too long is what breaks the immersion. Gear is literally useless i hate it. Mobs that are few levels below you should get one shot. Unless they are a boss or something. It's so annoying you search for gear and then you fight this random bear like its some boss....idiotic!
go to the skirm camp for gear :) heck there is gear at the auction house that people craft to put up for sale :) then there is reputation weapons that you can get at certain rank in reputation in a faction.
GW2 was my first MMO, and yeah, you're absolutely right. I actually love GW2, but two things really break the immersion for me. First, I'm this superhero that everyone loves, and they're always happy to see me because I'm 'the best'... Oh man, how stupid is that? Can people really identify with this superhero stuff? And second, the difficulty in the otherwise pretty nice open world is way too easy. I can run anywhere I want without any fear of danger. Sure, I'm a hero, but it's so boring. If GW2 changed these two things, I'd say it would be perfect. LOTRO feels so much better in these aspects. Unfortunately for me, though, it comes with that €15 subscription fee...
@@LiLei-mi4nh Yes, not to mention the fact that the storytelling which has improved over the years, is subpar to many other games of it's genre. The story is too generic, the pve world feels too easy (though the social aspects is AMAZING - ANet really promotes the community-spirit). I can't identify with the super hero stuffs and for me thats where i lose interest. GW1's story was fantastic as the build up from zero to hero is believable; GW2's story just blows everything way out of proportion and i feel they've ruined the magic of Tyria. For me a world comes first and if i can't get immersed in it, i just won't bother. That's why i mainly pvp on GW2....all the rest of the PVE milestones (whether crafting, exploration, jumping puzzles, world metas, achievements etc) just doesn't do it for me. Only exception would be raids and strike groups. It may be me but i don't mind the VIP subscription as i know i'll be supporting a game that still manages to retain the spirit of MMO magic that we all yearn for, which let's face it is why we are here.

People also do crafting to lv up(yes as you lv up your crafting profession your lv,ing your characters) ohh I forgot to mention there are skirmishes that you can do solo or a group. They are like mini raids. I prefer skirmishes if you are in a hurry to lv plus the loot can make you money at vendors.
Lovely game but not my cup of tea. I like my mmos to have good pvp and more of it. Pvp in LOTRO was pretty shite from my experience
Oh for sure, they have MPvp but its not what people usually play the game for it seems.
I'd play if the game would install. "Dat file corrupted" won't go away. Even when I delete the files. Oh well... For Sigmar!
Did you install the game on steam?
@@morrowoblivion13 Yeah.
@@realjosephanthony that is the issue. The steam version has issues. Most lotro players download and install from the official site.
Is there still bad lag in it?
i have heard that lag is problem on steam variant . non steam version shuld run better.
no
There are 64 bit servers that people say there is no lag. But you got to be a v.i.p
EverCraft ? Sorry I don't have time to watch this- I'm too busy playing the EverCraft alpha test 😃
Queridos latinos ! Si alguno esta interesado estoy en server Gladden avisen :) Great video thanks for all !
I decided to give it a try earlier this year but I just can't get over the user interface. The game itself looks pretty good but my god the UI is such an eye sore of a clustered mess that I couldn't enjoy the game. They should really focus on updating that.
You can customize the u.i size, etc on the options.
Only playable servers are the legendary ones. Angmar and Mordor. Rest is lag fest
I love lotr but the visuals and HUD are meh -_- and I can't seem to get over it
The ui is so ugly
played for 2 hours did not see anyone. Game is too dead to fulfil my MMO needs
But… but…. The Ashes of Creation alpha 2 opens up in eight days!!!
All other MMOs get forgotten after that.
😍
😀
:D
I think monthly fee games are way out of the scene now. 15 usd a month.... vs 25 USD a free for life full GW2 with full features? i'll just stay with GW2
Lotro used to have lifetime subs but that is years ago.
the real question is how much time do you really play that 25 usd expansion maybe paying 30 usd for 2 months of lotro is more fun than what you get in gw2
@@yoooyoyooo in lotro you get EVERY expansion and get access to the 64 bit legendary servers. And a bunch more stuff. If you are a v.i.p.
The problem with the game ui suck the combat is so bad graphic are so old but i starting playing the game and start to love it but they need to make a better ui the combat need a major rework it's and the lag is so bad and character model is so bad need rework and also the world map is bad
You can customize the u.i.
the game has no proper scaling for higher resolutions, in 4k resolution you simply can not read text. it is unplayable on modern hardware
@@bRED2k until there is such a fix. You can adjust the font size of the quest dialogue.
So you haven't played this game this year, but you are endorsing it?!? What compensation are you receiving?

No better business model than gw2
Warframe
