    My gas hot water heater came with my mobile home. Bought the home in October of 1998. It has been only drained/flushed twice. I base the life span on my Australian water scrubber. My washing machine is just about that old also and I have replaced the motor only once never touched the pump ever!

      What is an Australian water scrubber? A kind of whole house filter?

    My two tanks (in series) are 25 years old and counting. Zero maintenance for 25 years. No water treatment, no draining, no hassle. I'm not yet sold on tankless.

    Like with most things, it’s not always that simple. They are awesome water heaters. Ive had one for over 15 years and it’s still going strong plus we have rather soft water so that helps too. Bonus benefit is it alerted us to broken pipe in our plumbing because we would hear it running when no water was being used. Downside with them is there aren’t really any good electric options available given their power demands, making a gas service is necessary which isn’t always possible.

    My last tank water heater lasted 22 years, no way I’m paying 7000 for a tankless…… ll

    I’ve got the Joolca tankless camping heater $400 going on 2 years now runs off propane and batteries. A 20lb tank lasts about 7 months for 1 person, same with the 2 double d batteries. Can’t imagine paying $7k for a tankless heater!

      A camper is a lot different than a house. You have a tiny shower that hardly puts out any water. An on demand heater can handle four showers running simultaneously. Can’t believe I have to explain to you that a house is a lot different than a candominiium on wheels!

    Those navians are amazing. Just know that the life of your heater really depends on a couple things... 1 water quality... if u dont have a water softener on your house then sediment will ravage all your fixtures and heaters over time. With one they can last a very long time. I install these navians and they are super simple to install....2 water pressure... if u dont have a prv on ur water line or ur on a well and the pressure is excessive then it can also damage all fixtures in your house. Here in texas we set water pressure to 55 to 65 max psi coming into your house. Know these things about your house they are good to know

    Why dont you do a video on solar water heaters? We have had one for 7 years with no problems and it saves us a lot on our electric bill.

      I’ve never worked on solar systems. It’s a great idea but not my expertise.

    A tankless water heater costs up to five times more than a standard tank heater. Why will you still buy it other than the lifespan for the unit?

      Where in the world are you buying a tankless water heater for five times more than a standard heater???

      Maybe you were just kidding because you said from your other video that a tankless will cost up $7,000 and you still recommended them. Anyway, they must be that good. @@TheGrumpyPlumber

    How do we get rid of the sulfur smell with both hot and cold water?

      You need to get a treatment system. It’s not a guarantee that the system will work well however.

    My standard heater is going on 15 years. I drain the sentiment out twice a year. On demand just isn't worth it to me

    I live in a condo in a cold climate where the utility closet is located on the interior of the building. I asked a plumber about getting one he said it's not very feasible for me as a PVC pipe would be needed to vent it. Is this true for some people?

    • @TheGrumpyPlumber
      @TheGrumpyPlumber  9 місяців тому +1

      Yes, it probably would be difficult to vent the heater. Great that you had an honest plumber to tell you that.

      @@eddiecedillos8417 you won’t have any water until power goes back on. Hopefully, power goes back on. If the power never goes back on, then you’re screwed.

    Wtf are you talking about ? You still need a recirc line if you’re installing a tankless with a built in pump as the 240a does.

    • @TheGrumpyPlumber
      @TheGrumpyPlumber  9 місяців тому

      You don’t have to have a recirc line with the new 240as Navien.
