We did bed sharing, in fact still are bed sharing (just turned 2), but I’m not a risk taker so for the first year we used a cosleeper in the bed with us. There was never a risk of her getting rolled over on or of blankets/pillows getting on or near her face. I loved it and since I had a preemie and csection I feel like I took longer to bond, and bed sharing helped. I don’t want to frame it negatively or judgmentally, but parents that bed share HAVE to be very diligent about making sure that if they want to bed share they go out of their way to do it safely and if they cannot or worry they are too heavy of sleepers, do bed extension or room sharing. I always woke up if my daughter even changed her breathing pattern or wiggled and I loved being able to put my hand on her little chest and make sure she was breathing through out the night. We are going to bed share the same way with baby #2, but probably not as long. Maybe until 3-6 months and then switch to room sharing. Thanks for the informational video! There definitely is a stigma against it here in the US but we had a very knowledgeable and supportive doctor 😊
Amanda Juline The Snuggle me organic is the best! I can’t say enough about how much I loved my Snuggle Me organic. I originally wanted the Dockatot but I ended up having my daughter a month early and needed it ASAP, and it was sold out. So I got the Snuggle Me instead and I am so so glad. It is so soft, so comfy, cozy. My daughter loved being in it. If I needed to put her down to do something, I felt good putting her in this. The Snuggle Me looks like it is truly cradling your child. It keeps her safely separate from us. Once she got old enough to roll over, it prevented her from it. She fit into it until she was almost eleven months! There are some good videos on UA-cam so you can see. They didn’t have the larger size back then but if they did I would’ve bought it in a heartbeat. I’ll be using the Snuggle me with baby number two as well 🖤 The only thing the dock a tot has that the Snuggle me doesn’t is a cushioned bottom. It’s pretty much just fabric beneath, which is great for putting the baby on a couch or bed, but if you want to set the baby down somewhere on the floor you’d need to fold a blanket under it, which I had no issue with doing.
So our plan was The Snuggle me we bought it my baby is due in September! I was advised that it's not safe to use in the bed. Because of the side bumpers could be suffocating to them if they roll over or not even roll over but just put their face over to the side of the little bumper things. I'm not feeling 100% about bed-sharing right off the bat yet. So I was hoping the Co-Sleeper would ease my mind. And I don't want to use a sidecar or bassinest. I'm glad this worked for you and I'm hoping it will work for us. Why do so many people fear us out of these things!
Iv co-slept “bed shared” with all 3 of my kids until they were alittle over a year! Co-sleeping with my 3rd baby right now. There are safe ways to bed share we are the only country who “doesn’t” bed share. I’m also a very light sleeper so any movement he makes I’m awake instantly! Also easier for us nursing throughout the night, we both sleep MUCH better, I can’t sleep on a mushy bed so mine is firm no blankets, no pillows, I also have a thing “not sure what exactly to call it” that goes on the side of bed in case he would roll without me knowing and he won’t fall or suffocate💕
There is so much amazing and factual information supporting bedsharing and co-sleeping, great video! Most of the infant deaths that happen "co-sleeping" are because parents are on recliners or couches..
This video is great! I do have a question though - are you using "SIDS" to describe suffocation as well as unexplained sudden infant death? The way I understand it is that suffocation (from pillows, soft bedding, etc.), is different than SIDS which is unexplained. Perhaps I'm wrong but I am just seeking clarification on that. Thank you for this wonderful information!!
@@Noella1963 Suffocation links in becayse babies can roll in their sleep, comforters or pillows can move or if a parent is so exhausted they can roll over on their child if they are in the bed with them. Alexa Roberts Dockatot specifically says not to put your dock in any enclosed area. (Such as a crib or portable bed) If your baby happens to roll over the edge, your baby could get stuck. So make sure you're always placing it in a very open space :)
