Oh wow! Just incredible amounts of tumbling... makes my little 3pounder look like a babies toy... nice work! You must have to keep a log for each barrel, I suck at remembering when I put my barrel on after only a week haha! Thanks for showing us 👍
Do you have plans on the tumblers and the motor size. I need to build a tumbler that can Handel tree barrel of different grit. Mine is all dry tumbling of plastic (cellulose acetate). Any help is appreciated.
Great idea! I prefer to make my barrels. I have a suggestion... maybe cheaper to use a round steel tank and then weld several pieces of angle iron against the inside of the tank to mimic the effect of a hex drum? I hope you are making money from the polishing process. Looks like a nice set up.
Very nice setup, Looking to make something like this, (gathering parts) Looking for larger barrels without breaking the bank. You mention salvaged barrels, and from collections ?. Do you have some ideas of where to start looking. Where did you get that 45lb barrel. Thanks for posting your setup.
The speed can be changed depending on whats running, typically im running 30 to 40 RPMs. I also have it geared to use other barrels I made for a ball mill to crush gold bearing ore. If ya need any help making on just let me know :)
Do you have an after video of the tumbled stones? I was thinking of building one that runs off of a couple of solar panels so I wouldn't have to hear all that noise at night. It might take longer for tumbling, but at least the neighbours won't complain. As much.
Hi. I recently got the opportunity to take my love for rocks to another level by way of making stone jewelry. To date I've been using sand paper to sorta smooth the stones and then adding a lacquer to shine them up, but I am interested in tumblers. I would rather (if it were easier) to make than to buy a tumbler, and your design looks interesting. If you wouldn't mind, could you share with me how you went about building them? Thanks in advance.
Long long ago in Germany the boss came in after the machine shop was running for the day, in winter with his long trench coat on. A gas engine outside the building powered the shop. A long shaft in the floor powered all machines with shaft and pulley systems. (Engine Lathe, ex). A cover had been removed off of the trough on the floor where the main shaft turned. When he stepped over it his coat tail snagged on the shaft. Workers said he was pulled under the shaft and turned into corn beef hash. I liked the video but I cringed a little.
Maybe the proprietor has all this in an old shed out in the back yard and if it burns so what big deal? And he built it for a hundred bucks, instead of $700 a tumbler.
Your ingenuity, economy, and business are inspiring!
Nice to see Steve O's hobby
just one request please: show some tumbled stones from this setup... GOD BLESS
That’s a sweet set up ya built there. I’ve been thinking along those lines myself. If you are gonna tumble rocks you might as well tumble a bunch.
0:24 oh hello little spider! (in the top right corner)
Nice! Been brainstorming ideas for something bigger lately. I like the setup and chain drive idea. Thanks for sharing!

Would you be willing to share the plans? I have wanted to do this for a long time, but don't the know how to quite pull it off.
I noticed that someone already asked if you have a parts list? I would love to see it so I could try to make one.
Ingenious my friend! When I get the chance to set up something similar I will be in touch for your knowledge! Thank you for sharing. 💯
OMG I LOVE YOUR SETUP. I WANT TO MAKE ONE.

Are you talking about Wess in Nipomo?
Awesome homemade roller.
You are awesome! Please tell me if you had to put a rubber liner in your PVC barrel?
Very ingenious.
Link to buy the buckets?
Any other info about all other parts ?
where are you getting the drums?
What kind of barrel are you using and how are you keeping them sealed? And do you use ceramic media and if so what size. Thank you
Do you have a parts list of this? It looks really cool and I'd like to make one like it! Thank you
how many rpms is your motor?
How cool is that . Way cool. I likee i want one.

Great Job
Wow! Amazing
that is an awesome setup!
What size motor is that?
That is totally awesome
Magnificent Work!! 💪
How did you make those drums. What materials did you use?
I built one, or my sons did, but easy and inexpensive!
Nice! Just wondering....did you have any trouble pulling the hydraulic hose over the shafts? Any trick to that?
Glycerine is used to make putting rubber hose onto glass tubing easier.
You’re the tumble plug!
I wanna see the moon rocket ur building next!! 🙂👍
Genius! Subscribed!
How many RPM does it do on those 12 lb. drums? Im guessing 20 - 30 RPM? If so you really got that thing dialed in!

really really cool
Awesome! Where did you find the mounted bearings? I've looked and those are spendy.
You can get a set of 2 for about 25.00 on Ebay

Lapidary means noise, such is life.

pretty Snazzy set up...DIY rules...
That my friend is a fire hazard... here we are 3 years later and I do wish that you spent money and bought decent equipment by now.

I would be happy to share my email, privately.
