Excellent advice! Isn't trout fishing great therapy? I always return from trout streams renewed and never tire of the beautiful environments. Thank you for sharing, Fish Hawk! Ron
That's good advice on fishing a hole. Current seams, yes. Color is color, presentation trumps all else. Reel as slow as you can without hanging up on the bottom. The bottom current runs slower than the midsection, fish will hang in the bottom foot. Nice vid.
Seems as if might be one of his(UA-cam as well) better instructional videos yet. Is nice to see/hear what to look at and how to run lure info...now if we can get a hold of his home made lures....well will happen eventually.
Hawk, thanks for the tips! As a 57 yr old newbie your channel & others have been a huge help for me to fish the right way. I’ll prob watch this a few times. Those Trout sure are beautiful fish, nice job!
That's me too, 30 years of bassin, including tournaments. Retired now, need the exercise. Gonna start walking the banks of some local stocked rivers in Ma. with light tackle & spinners. Will NOT use bait.
Such beauties in the creek! Unfortunately we have limited freshwater fishing opportunities in Long Island, NY. But Saltwater... quite the contrary. Seeing this is eye candy. Fish onnnnnnn!
Thanks! I notice you hooking up 'on the drop' the first time the fish sees the lure. This has been key to my own fishing success - in general. Tight lines!
Thank for the tips. I’ve been thinking about switching to spinners all year and this will definitely help. P.s. awesome flying WV ring. West Virginia is where I live and do all my trout fishing.
Great advice throughout. Well done explaining where they sit, how to approach, etc. Great looking wild browns. Good luck on the next trip and keep busting out good content. I gotta get a video out ASAP!
What an excellent video. I think spinner rod fishing for trout is quite a challenge. Love the action on tiny creek tackle. Switching the spoon color is exactly what i do. I've actually found that most lures that work for creek smallmouth also work well for trout. Beautiful fishing area....love seeing that rod bent in half. Thanks for the tips....always learning!
When there is a good current, I like fishing downstream, fishing from or near shore. Cast across and downstream a little and let the current sweep the spinner across the current to your side of the stream, then reel up. Often the fish will hit as it is crossing. The current will activate the spinner. In slow water, cast up or downstream and reel in to activate the spinner. If you can find it, a rooster tail type spinner in blue, pink, and white with black dots imitating a rainbow trout is killer. At a waterfall, cast directly across the stream and reel right through where the water is falling.
The biggest one was very nice👌🏻 I listened to your advice and my buddy caught a nice brown on a rapala that resembled a little rainbow. Keep up the great work!
You have got to try ripping 3 or 3.5 inch streamers for browns in October and November. Find yourself a nice limestone fed stream, stay off the redds and enjoy
Really enjoy your videos! This one was helpful and I like hearing you explain your tactics and methods. Maybe include some more tips in newer videos! 👍🏼 keep it up!
I might try this method I fish shallow rivers and streams in the Rocky Mountains up here in Canada it’s mostly just fly rods might try this different setup
Definitely the number one thing is to let it run as low as possible to the bottom. Is spinners don’t work. A spoon will too. 👍🏼 Around my area spinners don’t work too well but spoons all day long.
@@FishHawk I had a old Marine camo top a friend had given me & by accident & comfort I wore it & wham! Fish were just biting my ex lost a 3-4 lb rainbow 🌈 trout but she dipped her rod and left me standing with the net empty watching it's big tail swim away. Then she blamed me you know trout got that lil tongue it just spit the hook. I rebaited & cast back out & I caught my 2lb or so rainbow they were on the rise for mayflys but jumped a juice nightcrawler hooked only once so it wouldn't damage it's nervous system. Man, they was on fire that day.
What was the red arrow pointing at at 2:12. I watched sever times, but nothing stood out. It kinda looked like Bigfoot was sitting on the bank, but I figured I had watched so much that I was straining my eyes lol
Go single hook. Barb is ok but better if you pinch it down. SOme of those trout you're catching are stream bred. Save 'em for the future. Pray the next guy does too. Like your videos. I grew up fishing these small streams. Lots of memories. Especially with my girlfriend(s)
@@FishHawk that's what I've heard too thanks Fish Hawk. I've stood waist deep in chest wader's at night for walleyes I think it's best to take a buddy nowadays. It was beautiful I didn't get but one walleye but the treeline in the dark & the sound of the stream & a distant train set just right mode to hook a monster! Good Luck 🎣
For average trout think small. Weight is determined by the movement of the stream and reeling. As long as the spinner is spinning you are fishing. Throwing upstream will give your lure a chance to get deeper. Generally trout should be fished with light everything. After they hut a certain size then they start hitting bigger presentations. So if you are not Hunting for large browns think small.
Hey Hawk, great vid as usual. Number four (I think it was number four) was a beast, very nice fish. Were those trout all natives? What’s the best way to tell, short of opening up the fish, of course? Did you have a split shot on your line, or maybe a swivel? Any problems with line twist when fishing spinners? Ok, I guess you’re thinking enough with the questions by now, lol. Thanks for the vid and have a good evening.
Luv the vids...occasionally my line gets wrapped around the treble hook on a spinner or a bass lure after i cast out and reel in...what am i doing wrong? Im tryin to get back n do more fishing...

Love seeing a skilled spin fisherman. Like seeing someone who still knows how to drive a stick.
Fishfearme Studios in uk everyone drives stick
@@adamroberts6414 Lol nice. Like everyone here has a gun.
Cool hand guns are not aloud in uk unless it has a 12 inch barrel and a fixed stock
Im currently learning how to drive a stick shift.

Thanks for the tips man. I'm giving trout fishing a try for the first time this fall and I've really been studying your videos.
long time bass fisherman here, going to give trout a try real soon here in WV. Your videos are very informative, thanks!

Try a lure called ‘crickhopper’ in these WV creeks - WV does a daily update on stocking. Good luck! 🐠

The old timers say the darker the day the darker the lure and I've found it to be true most of the time. And I'm an old timer haha.Nice video as usual.
I agree. Thanks for watching!
@@FishHawk do you have a P/N on the black spinner and gold blade
Thank you! My and my bf have been trying to trout fish but hardly catch anything while we see others pulling in trout after trout!
Idk why but I love the way you set the hooks it’s so satisfying for some reason

Top tips pal I'm always amazed at the fight out of the little trout
Beautiful fish. We’re on the Williams this weekend, hoping to catch a few left over from the spring stockings.

Good job, those were nice fish. I use a lure most of time, panther Martin, cast master, split shot with fireballs works pretty good sometimes as well.
Damn that trout was beautiful! If you ever find yourself in Alberta , fish with me ! Tons of trout here !
Thanks man. I’d love to fish there some day
Nice Broo !! Top Ultralight and spot

Have you ever fished with swim baits or minnows to target larger trout? I’d like to see a video of that! Awesome job!
No I haven’t but I’d really like to try

I have a question. When fishing for trout in streams. What size lures like roster tails do you find the best
I've NEVER liked a tattoo before this! I get it.

What’s a decent weight of spinner to use? I seem to never get them low enough in the water column.

what should be the right water temperature for trout fishing?

We are going to NC and I have no idea what kind of rod/reel to buy. Should I get a spinner rod?
Luv the vids...occasionally my line gets wrapped around the treble hook on a spinner or a bass lure after i cast out and reel in...what am i doing wrong? Im tryin to get back n do more fishing...
might just be from line twist. Try using a barrel swivel about 12 inches above your spinner
Swivel will help with line memory. Think small
Sorry about the newb comment but do I still use bait on the hook if I use the spinner
Awesome Video, I’m from WV as well. What creek is this?
Do you use barbless hooks?
