@@r5yamaha well than you haven’t seen enough! There are lots of videos of them catching trout. And trout are kinda lame compared to steelhead and salmon. And they definitely catch a ton.
Dude thanks for being real and showing when stuff slips away. I would much rather watch someone who missed a fish and analysed what they did wrong out loud than pretend they're the best ever and never miss a fish.
I understand that not everybody can afford a boat, and neither could I for a while. But after looking around for a while I found several John boats for ~100 dollars, bought and fixed one my self. A boats just not everybody's thing though
Love trout fishing, have been using the same rig since I was 14. My first fishing pole was a 9 foot long bamboo with a string tied to the end, my first fish was an 6 inch long black crappy. The rig I have been using since I was 14, is a Mitchell 300 on a 7 foot Roddy rod. Have three spare spools(4 total) for it, loaded with everything from 6 pound to 20 pound mono. Have fished a couple creeks that you have to low crawl up to, to fishing in the Pacific. My smallest fish was about 2 inches, same size as the Dare Devil lure I was using and my largest was a 76 inch long, 94 pound blue shark taken on a double 0/1 eagle claw rig with a herring filet, drift fishing off the bottom, about 80 feet deep with a sandy bottom. Biggest fresh water fish was a bull Chinook at 42 pounds. My last fishing trip, I caught an almost 3 foot long blue shark at the mouth of the Umpqua River, on a big sand shrimp. Have used the same rig to catch a mess of big bullfrogs, to catching a mess of black crappie for supper. Have fished crystal clear creeks where the rod was twice as long as the creek was wide and you had to belly crawl to get close to it to fish it. I am now 70 and still use that same set up, it looks a bit battered, but I take care of it, flush it with fresh water after using it in the ocean, then making sure there is no sand in the mechanism and all the moving parts are lubricated with a good reel grease and replace the line when it starts to look old and used up or once every other year. Have not been out fishing yet this year. We have a new fishing pond south of town that I have not fished yet, it is stocked with various size rainbow. My strangest fishing trip that I have gone on, was while I was in WestPac. Went fishing with a local fisherman, he took me out after octopus. We got in the water in the lagoon, and went after them by hand. I got one that had three foot long tentacles, we had it for a late afternoon lunch, with Saki, fresh raw vegetables and of course the raw sliced octopus tentacles, dipped in a mild sauce. Fishing is fun and satisfies the appetite, when I was young, I enjoyed fishing where ever I was stationed. Had a unique tackle box, too bad it was lost in a fire, at least the rod and reel were in the truck.
I've seen I don't know how many fishing sites. I just stumbled upon Jordan and Addicted tonight. I don't know why, but he comes across so real. I believe he knows how to fish and the way he communicates what he knows is natural and engaging. Thanks for the content!! I believe I may have found a favorite.
I tried your tactics in Colorado, fishing the west fork of the San Juan river. Spot on advise. Thanks for your time making the video. My little girl thinks i can fish. The smile on her face was worth watching your videos. Keep up the good work. Say hello to leif for me. John in Colorado
I river fish exclusively. Panther Martin's have caught me trout, pike, bass and salmon as well as some carp and a catfish. That's basically all I use now. Love them
Got to say thank you for teaching me the west coast ways bro. Thanks to you I was able to adapt to my new fishing hole, the Spokane River. Was an Midwest bass fisherman and I was more than clueless. When it came to cold, clean, mountain fed rivers. Long story short. Thanks to you I was able to have a more.than successful and great time fishing the Spokane River in Spokane for a few years. Caught more than my fair share of trout. Now back in the Midwest I'm happy to have recently learned, I can drive less than 2 hrs away and once again encounter trout! Not just trout but some salmon! So now my new goal is to catch a Steele or coho! Yee haw! I'm studying these weird rivers out here I've been out a few times. Springs on its way. Now I'm more than confident I'll be landing, smoking, and eating some salmon soon enough! God Bless and thank you!!
These never get old. It brightens my day whenever I open up UA-cam and there is a new tutorial or even a fishing trip video posted. And when there is none, I can re-watch one of the many without a hint of boredom. Well done guys! Keep 'em coming!
Just a couple years ago I started using my 5’ ultralight spinning rod to fly-fish with nymphs & streamers. Am surprised how good it works. 4-6 lb mono and usually 4X floro tippet, 12’ or longer. The short rod length helps allot on the tiny- small streams I like for wild brooks and browns.
Thanks for another nice video. I do a lot of this type of fishing. I have always felt using a swivel with spinners gives a better presentation and avoids line twist. Your comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
You guys are the best! Great tips and details to fishing. I always been a basic fisherman hook and worm but once I came across your channel my fishing skills has increased ten fold. Always have fun fishing trying new methods and fishing new lakes and creeks. Awesome fishing tips and How To videos!
You guys are great .. Jordan’s vids are my fav cuz I’m kinda new .. I tried so hard at so many spots last season because of you guys .. didn’t catch much but that’s why I’m here is to learn
It would be cool to have Jordan do a video in depth on fly fishing. Break down the difference in dry and wet flies and nymphs. How to setup the fly line to your leader/tippet. How to use the loop to loop rigs and how to tie the loops if they break, etc. I’m interested getting started with my 5wt but not sure what leader I need and what flies to start with.
This guy is very personable and articulate. And the soft background music is very compatible with his presentation. The use of a heavy line with a trace leader is really not something I had ever thought of doing. But it makes sense when you think about it.
Love the tutorials man! Keep it up! I caught a trout today on a yellow tiger striped rooster tail. May have been the only one of the day in an hour and a half but no skunk! 😊👍🎣
I like how you called your location a "little creek" -- that's actually quite a large creek compared to most of the places I used to fish in California. My go-to setup is an ultralight rod, 2-lb line, and a Panther Martin lure -- Deluxe Silver in 1/16 oz usually does the trick. In my many years of experience, one thing that I have observed repeatedly is that Panther Martin lures work best in areas where the fish have to react quickly or else miss the opportunity for a strike, e.g. fast-flowing runs, pocket water, deep riffles, and along the edges of bubble curtains and other cover. The more time they have to examine the lure, the less likely they are to strike.
Pike love em too. Caught my biggest pike on my little black and gold panther martins as I was pulling my life from the water I watched this giant come from the black brown and slam my spinner and peeled off ripping drag. I had 4 pound test on my 5'0 ultra light rod and micro reel. I pulled up a near 10 pound fish on it. Didn't get mearuments or weight besides my hands because when I held it up for a picture if decided to to flop one more good time and I dropped it and its head it a chunk of metal and took a chunk of meat off it's check so I wanted to get it back in the eat I instantly put it back and held it until he came back and swam away with power I was like man kicked my self for that one
Nice, but... having it tattooed closer to your bobber (if you're a guy?) might impart better action. Presentation is important. But a gal getting a tat of a 'vibrax' might telegraph that you're just trying too hard. Go with the flow.
Hey guys great stuff!!! Any way you can post links to your gear your using in the videos. Like jackets, backpacks, wader, ect. Thanks love your videos. Opening day for us in PA is this Saturday!!!!
How do you know if a creek or ricer has natural trout ? Do you just already know from previously fishing there or is there like an app or DNR website thing?
Jordan, awesome video. Question from a new angler: Are you using anything to weigh down your wooly bugger? I don't know if they come in different weight's like other lures, or if you need a lead wire.
I love wooly buggers. A way to fish with a fly rod on small creeks is a shorter lighter weight fly rod using roll casts or nymphs such as a hare’s ear with a strike indicator.
I caught a steelhead this summer fishing with a little Rooster tail. I was targeting cutthroats in those little pockets and wham! Fun fight on such light gear.
This is great! I’m gonna change it up and try your methods. Yesterday at the Beardsley res after bay(Ca Sierra Nevada) I hooked up to a huge powerful brown trout that got off the hook...next time
I use stream 6ft1in rod with abu garcia 10x reel with 4lb test line I also use a clear bobber twist type in lakes I streams I use spinners with no weight the reel goes 4 6 8 pound test learned to cast so I can put the spinner where I need It .
It will work, just won't flex with smaller trout, and won't be as fun (the catfish rod is much more powerful than needed). That said, as long as you hook the fish, you'll catch them with anything.
These methods work for MANY species ✅... I catch some nice smallies in both rivers and lakes with PM spinners and also either drop-shotting nymphs/wolly-buggers, or from a float.
I nail trout in that black and gold panther marten in the thumb nail. Such a great spinner for small creek fishing. I have more fish in that spinner than any other. Close second to a Gold Mepps Agila 2
I’ve been fishing lakes rivers and mostly streams for trout for 35 years. Never caught one on a spinner. Best luck with the bead head woolybugger flies. Never get it. Wish I had a nice creek or river to fish different baits
Bending the barbs on my hooks was the best thing I've ever learned for trout fishing. So much easier on the fish, and I almost never lose fish, as long as I keep tension on the line.
You guys are awesome yall have great content and thanks to yall I have learned so much keep it coming I cant wait to hit our West Virginia streams and lakes SOON!!
Glad to see I am not the only fan on here from the original mountain state. Love their creek and stream trout fishing tips. Really can help with your technique. I only wish we also had some steelhead sized trout readily available to fish like them.
Hi. Greetings from Mexico. I had seen some of your tutoriasl. I have a question. Fishing is catching fishes. I´ve listened a lot of tales, but i didn´t se you catching a single fish. I agree all your points of view, but I would like to see you catching a lot of trouts. Thanks for your time and courage.
Have you guys ever fished the green river in Wyoming? I'm trying to branch out to fly fishing but would rather use my spinning rod for flies. More videos on that would be helpful-thanks
Walleye fishing is generally deeper or lower light, so the 17lb line isn't as visible. You will definitely have more difficulty catching trout using 17lb line, as they see so well and they spook easily at the site of line. 2-6lb test is best for most trout fishing.
I fly fish exclusively for trout, but it was an interesting video. I think the main thing that strikes me is the size of the float. You said you were using flourocarbon line because you don't want to be spooking fish, but then you were chucking this giant float that made a pretty hefty splash. Surely that's going to spook a few. Why don't you use a smaller one? I do appreciate you using safer hooks when wild fish are present.
Bobber is the weight for casting. Splash in moving current is not always spooky. I've used bugger-bobbers in lakes and just drag a V reeling in. Tons of fish
I agree with your comment. Use as small of a bobber as possible; and use clear bobbers. I usually use a drop shot rig instead of a bobber to spin my flies. 🙂
dont listen to any teasing or comments ...the how to parts of this video and others are what we like...im new to fishing in Washington...I like these small rivers and on foot style trips cause I don't have a boat too...keep it up...I can't wait to get on the river even if i get skunked...
Aside from flyfishing, small Kastmaster spoons and rooster tails are the best lures I've found for trout. Always cast upstream. A wounded minnow won't be swimming upstream.
I feel like Jordan is my best friend. He just doesn't know it yet. And I do love fishing even smaller creeks than this one in early spring. The smaller the stream the easier it is to pin point where the trout are holding before moving up stream to spawn.
If I’m creek fishing for trout I use a dock runner with 8 pound fouro and a couple different rooster tails. if I’m on a bigger stream and or I’d creek where I can comfortably whip around my fly rod I’ll use that with flys that’s interesting thought never thought of using flys on a spinning reel for trout that or a bobber rooster tail as far as spin fishing for trout have always done me justice
If you haven’t subscribed to these guys yet, there is something wrong with you! Thanks for the great content!

That's what I said because ppl act like you catch fish all the time lol I love the realness great video
Much respect Jordan with pushing those barbs down, fishermen and hunters were the first conservationists.
Keep every brown trout. They are an invasive species now. Same as brook trout in the west.
Yeah, more trout vids from the shore, we can’t all afford boats! :) Keep it up yo!
Hey! I recognize that name. It’s Scott from the FishAngler app. And yes. The boat fishing tips aren’t much help when you don’t have a boat 😂
Realistically trolling is the only technique they show from a boat anything else you can put into use from shore as well.

Have you ever tried a clear twist on bobber???? I would like to know if you think i don't know i know they are hard to see
I prefer to use clear bobbers if I'm doing this setup, especially in more clear of water. It doesn't spook the trout as much as a colored bobber.

Caught many steelhead on that one in #4 #5 and #6 sizes
best trout channel out there hands down

The best teacher you can get for fishing trout and salmon
Heck yeah! Great video man
How do you know if a creek or ricer has natural trout ? Do you just already know from previously fishing there or is there like an app or DNR website thing?
Generally, your state's fish and game website will have information on what kind of fish are in a given river/creek, including stocked or wild.
Just ordered a pflueger xt combo I'm so excited to get back out, think I might hit yellow bottom creek this weekend!
What do you think of single hook spinners?
I've personally caught plenty of trout on them. A fine option for catch and release spinner fishing.

I use stream 6ft1in rod with abu garcia 10x reel with 4lb test line I also use a clear bobber twist type in lakes I streams I use spinners with no weight the reel goes 4 6 8 pound test learned to cast so I can put the spinner where I need
It .
If you only have a seven foot long catfish pool would it work for trout fishing?
It will work, just won't flex with smaller trout, and won't be as fun (the catfish rod is much more powerful than needed). That said, as long as you hook the fish, you'll catch them with anything.
Im ready to go out and try these Addicted Fishing setups!
Another good video Jordan. Long ago, I removed all the treble hooks and switchd to siwash
These methods work for MANY species ✅... I catch some nice smallies in both rivers and lakes with PM spinners and also either drop-shotting nymphs/wolly-buggers, or from a float.
Been fishing small creeks in my area and 3-4 egg spawn sacks are money bro! Caught a couple of 23in these weekend! Tight lines great video!
I have been waiting for this one
Love the trout videos jordo!
My go to in Wisconsin is a white and silver roster tail. But I'm going to add the opposite, a black and something.
Love the protips, thanks!
Id like to be ur camera man for a day, I'd learn so much just by watching you do work in ur natural environment!

In his tackle box that blue/ silver rooster tail W/eye is fire in Rivers. Especially for Bass 🎣 Wal-Mart only place I can find it.
What would be your best recommendation for rod and reel okuma celelio 6' 6" ul and 2000 Shimano saraha or 7' or 7'6" all ul
Quality hip waders so you can go into water. That way, you can get away from the overhanging brush to cast your rod. 😊
Have you guys ever fished the green river in Wyoming? I'm trying to branch out to fly fishing but would rather use my spinning rod for flies. More videos on that would be helpful-thanks
Yes another trout video keep it out!
You think 17 pound flouro is visible to fish? I use 17 pound for my walleye fishing never seemed to have a problem but im curious
Walleye fishing is generally deeper or lower light, so the 17lb line isn't as visible. You will definitely have more difficulty catching trout using 17lb line, as they see so well and they spook easily at the site of line. 2-6lb test is best for most trout fishing.

That's a sick hoodie!
Liking the trout vids, should do more
Is there any specific reason for using 20 lb main line ? Does the size of the main line matter? Thanks
Aside from flyfishing, small Kastmaster spoons and rooster tails are the best lures I've found for trout. Always cast upstream. A wounded minnow won't be swimming upstream.
Small creek fishing is the best..
Very well explained! Thanks man!
I feel like Jordan is my best friend. He just doesn't know it yet. And I do love fishing even smaller creeks than this one in early spring. The smaller the stream the easier it is to pin point where the trout are holding before moving up stream to spawn.
