This comment what I was literally thinking about
I still remember the event quest where you have to face a fucking rajang the size of king kong and a rajang the size of an ant at the same time, took me 2 days to finish that event quest

Reading this.has given me a seizure
edit:Oh nevermind I've decoded it
I saw a car on the highway which backlights looked like rajang horns and my heart skipped a beat.
It was then i knew i had rajang ptsd
That shoukd be a creepypasta
Imagine walking from a lonely 7 11 at night and as you step into the foggy, misty highway you see it, what seems to be the back of the bison
knowing bisons' body heat can turn water into steam or mist, you shrug it off
but it has horns
and now it starts to turn towards you glowing red eyes in the lonely humanless highway ready to devour your soul
then you think, "it's just a car, it can't be real, that fucker ain't real"
then it blinks
a rush of adrenaline rises up your head, what was once your chilled, cold, frightened body is now sweating and burning in your own body heat.
"it may not have noticed me yet", you think, but it looks into your eyes, unmoving.
You stand there for a few moments, thinking of what to do next, your brain starts to hurt because of all the stimuli and thoughts. And then it suddenly charges towards you, full speed, an angry daemonic lightning gorilla. You try to move your legs but they're stuck in place, colder than you were. Your heart is as if it's trying to kill you by beating. You run back into the 711, fast as you could, your legs working like train wheels. The cashier asks you what's wrong. "I probably just thought of that one" you say, trying to regain your calm. You buy a good cup of coffee, ready to go home.
And then you feel the ground shake

About Rajang's size being smaller in the New World compared to the Old World, its quite common for the same species of animal to have different sizes depending on enviroments and food. The ones in the New World have only recently encountered humans, have an abundance of food, and weren't spotted until recently, so are probably smaller in size to make it easier to fuel their bodies, while still being strong enough to tangle with the largest monsters. Meanwhile the ones in the Old World are constantly putting up with humans and large monsters in competion for food and land, so they probably are bigger and stronger to fight off the humans and other apex predators who they constantly encounter. I bet the monster reasearchers in MHW love the chance to study all the differences between Old World and New World Rajang and find out exactly why and how things are the way they are.
I like this explanation
Yeah, that makes sense
Some Monsters just changed over time. Look at Gypceros. He was HUGE and came after Rathalos in the very first game. Now he is the size of most other bird wyvern. Things just change.^^
and that’s the reason why alatreon in iceborne is small since in the old world it’s 3105cm and possibly encountered other monsters
While in the new world it’s 2969cm lenghtwise
@@frostbitecryo Everything is bigger in the Old World XD
Just for a bit of education: back in MHFU, monster roars and sounds scaled based on their size. The larger species of a monster had bigger/deeper roars/sounds whereas the smaller species had higher/pitched versions of their roars/sounds. What an awesome touch! This idea was ditched from tri onwards I believe. Not sure why
The idea wasnt ditched. I remember this happening in world with gold crowns.
@@Umneriko In all my 1000 hours of world, I havent noticed a difference in the pitch of monster sounds, and I have both crowns for almost all the monsters. I'm convinced there isnt any difference. In FU, the differences in monster sounds are so obvious.
Still remember the mini khezu scream lol
It still exists and Legiana is a perfect example of different pitch/tone with size
It's still around in MHW, just harder to identify i guess cause monster roars are a bit less distinct, but it's there for sure.
Its funny how in the old games they had tiny blood spatters whenever u cut monster. But in world they don't. It felt more real when they did have that in the game.
I think they did that to lower age ratings
@@digitalfreak8280 the old ones are 12+ but world is 16+ if I’m not being wrong so if that’s the reason then it really didn’t work
@@aliaims760 huh nvm then
That's one thing I missed from World. It was a good damage indicator. Now it feels like it takes forever to kill a monster because half the time you can't tell if you're hurting it or not.
They were probably trying to promote the damage numbers
Its reassuring to know that the director of mh rise directed this game.
iirc he almost directed every mh portable game
People keep saying this as though it means something. As someone else pointed out that individual does all the portables.
It doesn't mean they're about to regress in game design because a vocal minority think their nostalgia is more important than the success and playability of a series.
From everything we've seen, Rise is very much World inspired, and if we see Rajang, he'll 100% fight more like he does in Iceborne than here.
@@leonfrancis3418 that's good to hear since i absolutely loved world and iceborne, and its good to see they'll be bringing us both old and new world elemtents.
@@leonfrancis3418 perhaps. From the little we've seen tho the monsters seem to be going back to the old reposition methods.
Hopefully it's more like world
3 Skills in an armor, the good old days
To be fair, one of them is lv 3, meaning he put 20 points into reckless abandon which is pretty much 2 different skills worth of points.
Partly because it's a mixset (individual pieces provide points for up to 4 different skills).
To be fair i prefer having more skills it allows to make more mixed sets that are actuallt worth. Don't get me wrong, in iceborne the are too many, but i reallt do prefer something similar to 4u, maybe even more (and less god charm/relics centered)
Nah. As a veteran, never being able to reasonably explore skills was the bane of creativity.
@@grifonefolle105 The Iceborne system just makes it so there's literally no point in getting any skill aside from the meta skills. Iceborne endgame basically has zero build diversity, because the target skills for most builds are critical boost, weakness exploit, critical eye and peak performance or agitator. aside from some weapon specific skills and health boost, there's no reason to experiment with skills.

Hes so big compared to world
Their max size in FU used to be 1600cm. In 4U/GU it was 1207cm, and in world it's 994cm. They made him smaller and smaller because of how fast of a monster they were designing him to be. A 1600cm rajang in world would be too broken cause of how fast he is in world
Always has been
It gets even more scary when you realise that the second rajang is not even a large gold crown. It was actually a silver gold crown. He got even bigger than what you see in the video xD
i never play the old MH games tho
@@FrostyzZ311 Well I'm just telling you the history of how his size change throughout the games. It's funny cause prior to world, rajang was not known for how tiny he was. He's considered the alpha of all the fanged beasts. He grew large in the older games and was physically just bigger and more muscular than the other fanged beasts. In world, he retains everything from the older games except they made him smaller. His identity in world is a manchild that just bullies other monsters and elder dragons, whereas before he would at least grow to be the size of them xD

This remains me of the story quest in monster hunter 3rd portable, "Like a moth in the flame" or something. In that quest, you have to kill a deviljho then a pair of tigerex and nargcu after that in 45 mins. That is even more painful than the quest killing 3 narcuga and the boars because deviljho laser reduces your hp to around 50-25% after he stomps you and move back to shoot at you even if you have maxed out barroth u armor which has the highest def.
Not to mention, the awkward psp camera control which you have to manage in order to dps.

The only reason I was able to beat this quest was one of the Rajangs glitching on the other side of the arena, allowing me to take them down consecutively instead of at once.
So the old rajang give you more time to hit, less aggressive, a bigger target, and moves alot slower but fast for the older games.
New world is smaller, less time to hit, moves really fast and is pretty fast compared to most creatures in mhw.
It's opposite with Zinogre, he was smaller and faster.
He is only that big in some quests and has way more damage as in world, the super Rajang can kill u with one hit.

Quest: Beat 2 Old Rajang
I miss when monsters felt like a threat instead of part pinatas.
@Grungeboy Oh come on, they weren't all bad. Most were pretty damn good, but due to that the few that were bad stuck out super hard.
I was referring more to the calm, deliberate mindset you had to hunt in previous generations. Mistakes were more punishing, but the pace of gameplay was slower and ended up being more about positioning, tactics, knowledge, and preparation versus the current gen of basically just reaction and a little knowledge. Just feels like the gameplay has lost a lot of its depth in favor of mass appeal. Makes the monsters feel like toys to play with, as opposed to big, dangerous animals. Which is super funny since they are so much more fluid and yet still they feel so much more hollow. Flashy over substance.
@Grungeboy Oh don't worry, I know that some of them were rage inducing. I know it's practically a meme, but I had to go lance to beat plesioth the first times I fought him. Just ridiculous.
I also agree, I liked the scoutfly system. It held a good spot of still making you track down the monster until you did it so many times it would basically just appear on the map, but because you had tracked it so many times it felt earned. I just wish Capcom wasn't so willing to just throw away all the old mechanics, I'm sure they could be reworked without throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
